The Flood / Re: When is the last time you ran a mile or more?
« on: May 16, 2015, 04:00:11 PM »
I understood it was hyperbole, the implication of my post however was that just because you aren't active doesn't mean other people aren't.
Where in my post did I ever say that I wasn't active? Do you think you need to run a mile every day in order to be considered active?

I didn't learn anything from your post, but two facts were reaffirmed:
1. You are illiterate.
2. You should be demoted.

I forgot everyone in the Bnet community is a fucking triathlete.
You don't have to be a triathlete to run a mile. Some of us actually like to do something active every once in a while.
You don't have to be a genius to understand hyperbole. You just have to be a retard (minimum).

What does that make you?

Get demoted.

That decade long appeals process is a fucking colossal waste of taxpayer money. It's cheaper and better to just let him rot in ISO in ADX Florence.
for DECADES?

seems like that would cost more, actually

I've suffered a lot at ages where you shouldn't have to suffer that much.

So if you haven't suffered as much as I have (this isn't a competition, I just want you to think on this), why do you have your views? At what point did you decide that these are good and reasonable views to have if you personally never suffered much?

I mean none of us here have suffered as much as African children. Yet they all want to live probably more than we do.
it's just a matter of empathy

as class pointed out, 99% of people may not have felt the worst suffering there is, but that still leaves about 1% of the population (~72,000,000 people) who have

and that's obviously not a real statistic anyway, so let's look at some real statistics

whether these impoverished people want to live more than us or not isn't really the point--it's the fact that many people do indeed suffer, and we should account for them--not marginalize them--because when you really look at it, there's a lot more terrible shit in the world than most of us are willing to admit

what i liked the most about the video i posted was how quickly the society fell apart
satan gave the people life, and decided to torture them out of sheer nihilism as a result of their impertinences for each other

satan represents how i view budding parents--he's a natalist nihilist

Only boring motherfuckers wouldn't care about people seeing everything through their eyes for a day.
boring people tend to be very self-conscious about their lives

you might be able to get away with "only narcissists," except i'm not a narcissist either

No

that doesn't mean i'm unable to recognize that when someone says "the good in the world outweighs the bad in the world", they're talking out of their ass

My original post implied equal happiness and suffering. You can't have an argument of "oh you'd choose to spend an hour undergoing excruciating pain and misery so you can spend the next hour lounging around with a cup of peach tea?" It's not comparable. The average human is never going to be tortured in some Russian gulag, so even bringing up the point of "you've never had REAL suffering" is pointless.
if you could illustrate the scenario for me, then, that would be helpful
i won't contradict you, but i don't suspect that i will agree with you

it's difficult for me to imagine a scenario where the suffering/happiness do not outweigh each other either which way, even if only by just a little bit

i would stop eating cupcakes if i had to prick my finger every single time i decided to eat one
they wouldn't really be worth it to me anymore at that point

99% of humans live their lives without any fear of actual physical torture. That vastly outweighs the 1% who does.
how is this relevant, then, to your initial assertion that you'd undergo an hour of suffering if you could only receive an hour of pleasure first, if the suffering is conditioned only by, presumably, the worst you have felt thus far?

you've relegated your point to, "i would suffer for an orgasm, just as long as the suffering isn't so bad"

a vapid, diffident statement that has no meaning

Sure, I've never been tortured or mutilated. But that's not a realistic perception for suffering for 99% of humans.
which means 99% of humans do not have a realistic perception of real suffering

besides, it shouldn't matter, if you can honestly think of a good experience that would outweigh being tortured and mutilated

i don't think you can
