So, I was grinding just before Victory Road when I found this as I was training up my Noctowl:

Female, went with the two-word name "No Sound" because of her dex entry.

As much as I wanna use her, I can't quite replace Clocks, the Noctowl that I'm currently using. Clocks has been on the party since day 1 of the challenge, and I found him on a route that I normally lose out on, because of the whole lack of Poké Balls thing. So yeah, not right now. Still a cool catch, though. This is the generation where shinies actually MEANT something.

I'll definitely use her during Kanto.

i don't think you really need proof

the atmosphere was that of everyone just silently wanting to fucking kill each other, it was so dour

a lot of them are openly resentful and unpleasant, especially the mods

An obscure off topic discussion forum that was formerly hosted on a video game developers website doesn't allow a few bad words!

This angers me so much to the point that I must type out a multi paragraph response!
Less anger, more mixture of amusement and irritation.

Everything pisses me off. I consider it part of my joie de vivre. You're not special.

What bothers me more is the notion that you think Sapphire is a place worth being.

It really is just so stupid on so many levels.

Obviously, you've bred up this community of a bunch of people who are as unracist, unsexist, and unbigoted in every way as can be, right? You're all so wonderful and accepting and diverse and you're so proud of it. You're so proud of the safe space you've provided for all these minority groups, and you would never think to denigrate anybody for any aspect of their identity.

All the more reason not to have the slur filter. Because you're not gonna be using those words anyway. And anyone who does is going to get banned instantly. So what the fuck does the filter actively accomplish?

Holy shit.

We manage to have conversations on several sensitive subjects without using slurs

It's not that hard.
It's not about it being hard. It's about the impression that it creates.

You should be able to handle reading words that you dislike. You're all adults, presumably.

i used to abuse the shit out of guides as a kid, and i stopped when i began to realize how stale and flavorless some of my favorite games were starting to feel because of it

i tend not to use guides for any game in general, partly because of pride, partly because of how good it feels when i'm finally done, and partly because, in theory, a well-designed game is not going to require you to use any guides in order to beat it

i'll ask people questions about small mechanics, but in terms of progression, if i'm ever lost, it's up to me to figure out where to go, because i view that feeling of being lost as part of the whole experience, something i'd rather not lose

dark souls is no exception, but i have allowed people to drop hints on me, if only to emulate the experience of having the soapstone messages that i'm missing out on, since i play the game offline

i'm not above asking about obscure mechanics if it'll only help me understand the game's combat more, but i would never look up where to go, what to do, or how to beat certain bosses though

basically, anything that helps me understand the rules of the game? that's fine
lore? that's fine, generally speaking
anything that helps me progress or beat the game? that's for me to figure out

for example, not understanding how poise works isn't really going to enhance my experience of the game once i eventually learn how it works, and it's not going to ruin my experience if i just ask about it; that's just a matter of saving time

not understanding how to beat a boss, though, is part of the idea of fighting a boss in the first place

It's not a profanity filter, it's a slur filter.

If you feel the need to constantly use slurs because freeze peach or some non sense, then fair warning Sapphire probably isn't the place for you
There are several practical instances where using a slur unfiltered would make having certain conversations about certain subjects run a lot smoother.

Given the context, our minds will be able to fill in the blanks anyway, so having a filter doesn't actually filter out the word at all. The only effect it produces is making the website look like it's comprised of small, overly-sensitive children.

It wouldn't be a Verbatim nuzlocke if some stupid shit didn't happen at some point.

So the other day, I was making my way up to Victory Road, but not before getting my penultimate encounter for the Johto region, not counting Mt. Silver: Route 26. After clearing the route of all its trainers, this is the last area in the game where I'm able to get a Pineco. Not only have I never used this thing, I've never even seen it a single time in a Gen II game, and this was my last chance to find one.

Unsurprisingly, I found a Hoothoot instead. Mildly vexed, I close the 3DS, intending to play some more of it later.

So I pick it up and turn it back on to discover that I forgot to save. I was back in the Dragon's Den where the last thing I did was get the Extreme Speed Dratini, and now I have to re-fight every single trainer on Route 26 again. Not devastating, but still kind of annoying.

So, I'm trying to clear the route as fast as possible, not thinking too hard about what I'm doing. Suddenly, my Kingler wound up biting the dust after making a retarded and rushed decision that I wouldn't have made at all if I were focusing.

I'm wondering if I should count this death. I literally already cleared this route already, and I was just making up for lost progress. But at the same time, all of this shit was easily preventable and is 100% my fault. So maybe I should count it. But technically, if I count the death, then maybe I should also give myself a second chance at Pineco, too. I'm not going to do that, though. I just kinda wish this didn't happen, because no matter what choice I make, it's going to make me feel guilty.

So, here's my compromise:

1.) I'm gonna keep Kingler. The death doesn't count because I cleared this area already.
2.) I'm banning Kingler from the Elite 4. So, if I want to use him again during this run, I have to win.
3.) No extra Pineco attempt.
4.) This is the only time I'm ever allowing anything like this to happen again.

Suicune will have to replace Kingler for the time being. It's way stronger anyway, and I'm normally not cool with using legendaries, but given that Suicune was the first legendary I ever caught, and the first thing I ever used a Master Ball on, there's sentimental purpose to using it, too.

What I find particularly funny is that people who hate on capitalism seem to be very aggressive and bitter towards anyone who is successful or even just in disagreement with them, and yet they do not seem to care that they display that kind of attitude, even though it virtually saps any influence they might have over the average population and makes it incredibly hard for them to actually create any of the change within government they would like to see.

Your average working man or woman who just wants to make their way in life, provide for their family, and be happy is going to look at that kind of hateful rhetoric, even if it's directed at the rich or the country, and be completely turned off by it.

Hate doesn't initiate change, not without violence. You have to present yourselves as respectable. There's a reason why Martin Luther King Jr asked his supporters to march in dress clothes and not black block or something intimidating. He understood the value of the public's perceived image of your movement.

i mean i fucking hate rich people, so i guess that makes me a classist too

but the fact that poor people are the ones having the most kids, despite being the ones who shouldn't be having any period, doesn't put them in my favor either

this is probably the most who-gives-a-shit form of bigotry there is
the idea that you can actually be classist against the rich is about as valid as the idea that racism against whites in america is a problem. classism is very much a valid concern; you would know this if you were actually dedicated to morality. and you really have no place to be telling poor people how many kids to have you ugly little chucklefuck.
nobody on this website has dedicated themselves to morality more than i have, especially not you

and i am in every place to tell everyone in the world how many kids they should be having

there is no hypocrisy whatsoever, and lmao you're a christian now hilarious
if that's what you think. and no, not a christian. im just concerned for your soul.
it's about as hypocritical as a white person with white guilt

so, not hypocritical at all

and you have to be some type of religious fuckwit to believe in anything like a "soul"
