I just think men would end up treating women more like a sexual distraction than anything else. That's why I'm not terribly into the idea.

caring about the welfare of others, though it may be an alien concept to you, is not a problem by any rational means

I just say what I believe. No one has an obligation to live.
i believe the same thing, in essence
but it's just so infuriatingly off-subject, though

it's not about forcing people out of their choices--it's about convincing people to make the right choices

Would you mind explaining the mentality behind it?
I'm seriously curious. I don't know if there is anything I can do, or if I should do anything.
I mean, I've known people with addictive personalities, and I know the confusion, and the anger, and the disappointment. The mentality changes depending on the person, of course. From what I'm able to gather, the most common catalyst is depression.

A lot of drug abusers, and people with addictive personalities, are also very depressed for some reason or another. It's important to remember that depression isn't necessarily intense sadness or mopeyness. For most thinking people, it's a state of perpetual boredom, malaise, and apathy. Nothing you do feels like it's worth it. Time either goes by too slow, making you feel like you're frozen in time, or too fast, making you think you're wasting your days away being useless. Everything you used to enjoy doing, you cannot derive enjoyment from anymore. You grow tired of who you are and what you're living through. For some people, they begin to lose the will to live. You start getting paranoid, thinking that everyone secretly hates you, is getting sick of you, or doesn't care about you. And it doesn't end. The only thing that you truly want is to either fade away, or get rid of the feeling. To get yourself out of the rut.

Drugs allow you to make that feeling go away. As stupid and dangerous and irresponsible as they are, that's just what they do. They allow you to cheat your psychology, mask your problems, and pretend as though your life means something now, because now you're happier. You're more sociable. You're less paranoid. Instead of finding meaning in their lives, they create meaning.

This is why most people drink alcohol, I'd wager.

That's all I really have. I'm one of the most depressed people I know, and I've never, ever thought for even a single moment to ever use drugs, and I have a burning contempt for those who do. Why I happen to be an "exception", I don't know. It's all very frustrating and confusing. But yeah, that's essentially what I meant when I said I knew that feeling. I haven't answered your question fully, because I can't, really. And that part's frustrating, too. I've lashed out at countless people for indulging in various substances--even weed--because I value so much our capacity to be sober. Our capacity to be in total control of our faculties. That's the part I will never understand: Your brain is the most important organ in your body. Why in the fuck would you EVER fuck with it?

But what I've learned is that not everybody values their agency as much as I do.
I think they're fucking idiots, but I guess that's just the truth of the matter.

lol
hayden christensen is an awful actor
natalie portman is pretty toss at acting
sam jackson appeared for all of 5 minutes

i could go on
please do, because everything you said was wrong

show me at least one scene from each character where the acting sucked and i'll explain in thorough why you're wrong

37964
i'm never derogatory for the sake of being derogatory

The Flood / Re: should i watch the star wars prequels?
« on: May 30, 2015, 05:15:51 PM »
Bad acting is quite a big thing though, you know, because actors are the biggest part of a movie.
i strongly disagree

as long as the story is great, the themes are expressive, and the movie makes me FEEL something
it's done its job

good acting is a part of that, but... not always
and the acting wasn't even bad in the prequels so whatever

The Flood / Re: should i watch the star wars prequels?
« on: May 30, 2015, 04:53:55 PM »
i've only seen the original trilogy, i knew there were prequels but the reviews for them were all so left and right. some hate them some love them so i didn't bother and just watched the original trilogy because i heard nothing but praise for them.
oh, i misread your post, then
my bad

yeah, the nice thing about watching the prequels in this day and age is that the hype has been long dead
so even if you end up disliking them, i think you'll still find entertainment value

>he doesn't know third person when he sees it.
Spoiler
now we're getting confusing.
>he speaks in third person

you only begin greentext with "he" if you're referring to the person you're responding to, assclown

hmm i enjoyed the original trilogy. like you im not the biggest star wars fan so i don't really mind the errors the hard core base despise, i just find the universe interesting so getting more of that can't be a bad thing imo.

im not very picky when it comes to movies
ohh, so you've already seen it?

what are you asking for, then

when i was a kid, i thought he was just a regular guy playing a character and reading a script written by real scientists

then ten years later, i see him on youtube, and i discover that he's a legit scientist
and he's pissing all over creationism (and pissing off many people in the process)

that was the moment he became one of my favorite people

oh wow that's so helpful
Thanks.  :D
kys

did you like them?
yeah

i'm not a big star wars fan, though, to be completely honest
i ended up seeing them before i saw the original trilogy, which is probably why i like them more

i would say give them a shot if you want to enrich yourself in the narrative further for when ep.7 finally comes out
i would also recommend watching them with someone--don't watch them alone

The Flood / Re: should i watch the star wars prequels?

If you want to then no.
If you don't want to then yes.
oh wow that's so helpful

you know, the #1 reason these threads are made is because the OP isn't sure if he wants to or not--so he seeks guidance from his peers

i wish he asked the question like "do i want to watch the star wars prequels?"

but then you'd probably just ask, "i don't know, do you?"

If I said that then it wouldn't be opposite day now would it?
no, it would, because the opposite of "it's not opposite day" is "it's opposite day"

and most people would get the idea

The Flood / Re: should i watch the star wars prequels?

Which would mean it is you fucking retard
if it's opposite day, you would have to say that it isn't opposite day

otherwise it's not opposite day

]The shitty acting by most actors and way too much CG ruins them.
Also fuck kid Anakin and Jar Jar.

Also also fuck the dumb pod racing part
1. bad acting is, by far, the tiniest complaint one could ever, ever make about a movie (and i don't even agree)
2. where do you draw the line--at what point is there too much CG?
3. anakin and jar jar were seriously not that annoying--i consider anakin more annoying (only for the "are you an angel" bit)
4. wtf the podracing part was fucking tight as fuck shithead im gonna cut you
