Came out on top, but lost my Graveler to Karen's Houndoom. I thought she'd be able to withstand a Flamethrower, even during a Sunny Day boost, but I was woefully incorrect.

Noctowl had a cool moment during the fight, though. After taking out a couple Pokémon on her team, he was down to about 10% of his HP. Maybe less. She sends out her Murkrow, and to give him a break, I decided to switch out—but by the time it crossed my mind that she might use Pursuit, it was already too late. He took the hit, and lived with just 1% left. It was dope.

Lance was a joke with Suicune around. He landed every Blizzard, missing only once, and tanked several Hyper Beams. Normally, I'd feel guilty about making the final fight so easy, but this has been a pretty special run for me, so I don't feel too bad about it.

After putting Graveler to rest, I flew to Goldenrod City to pick up my reward—the GS Ball, the key item needed to catch Celebi at the Ilex Forest Shrine. In order to use it, though, I first had to show it to Kurt, who examines it for a day before giving it back to you (or, hopefully, just after midnight).

This is something that means a whole lot to me, because the shrine at the Ilex Forest has mystified me for fifteen years. When I watched the fourth Pokémon movie, I knew Celebi was waiting at that shrine, but I just couldn't figure out how to make it appear. I tried so many different methods, from catching a bunch of Unown spelling C-E-L-E-B-I and checking the shrine, to glitching the game to find a hidden "Teru-Sama" item that was meant to represent the GS Ball, and many other things.

Nothing ever worked, and by the time Bulbapedia was a robust website, it was there that I discovered that Celebi, like Mew, was an "event" Pokémon—but unlike Mew, it was never distributed in America. Ever. Only in Japan.

There is a way to catch Celebi using a series of strange glitches that I've never tried before, and the reason I never tried it is mostly because 1.) I stopped caring, and 2.) I just wanted to get a Celebi legitimately. It's my favorite mythical Pokémon, and I really don't wanna have to break the game to get one.

Now I don't have to. Fifteen years of having this shrine do absolutely nothing for me, and it's about to finally do something for me in about 10 minutes. Pretty cool shit.

Oh, also, I checked back with the two Aipom I dropped in the daycare at the beginning of the playthrough, and they're both level 55 now.

All right, finally ready I think. Here's the gang:

Spoiler

I'm really happy I was able to take Meganium all the way to the end, given Chikorita's reputation as the weakest starter ever. With the highest overall stats on the team, even above Suicune's, he's really made a name for himself.

Graveler's been with me since Dark Cave, pre-Falkner, and has carried me through over half of the gyms in the game. Though she'll never be a Golem, and has the lowest stats on the team as a result, I still fully expect her to hold her own.

Noctowl has been on the team even longer, and I was lucky enough to get an encounterless Route 30 when I had the opportunity to catch him. He's not the strongest member of the team by any means, but he's been flying my ass all over the region for quite awhile, and he's very reliable.

Arcanine wasn't actually meant to be on the A-Team at all, and I only trained her up (along with Ariados (RIP) and Kingler, who is currently in limbo) so that I could use something for the Battle Tower. I never wound up going to the Battle Tower, though, but she wound up proving herself to me anyway, especially after some crucial members died.

Espeon didn't evolve until very late into the playthrough, so I was never able to get a read on his personality or anything, but he's absurdly powerful and I expect him to fuck shit up with Psychic.

Suicune is Suicune. Normally, I wouldn't be using a legendary at all, but Suicune isn't horribly overpowered anyway, and he's just standing in for Kingler until I'm able to use him again. I spent the rest of my life savings in the game on a Blizzard TM just to make him my dragon slayer, and the rest of his movepool is surprisingly shallow.

All right, hopefully no one dies.

Who would care? Why do I have to mod the game?

Gaming / Re: Why is Sep7agon so anti-modding?

You've probably already answered this but what's your opinion on mods that add in/ enable content that was intended for the base game but cut due to issues like time constraints?
Depends on the case, but with KOTOR 2 specifically (which seems to be the most commonly cited case), I wouldn't care if you decided to go ahead and restore the cut content.

I personally wouldn't. If it's so important for me to experience it in some way, I would opt instead to watch clips of the restored content on YouTube.

Chris Avellone, the game's lead designer, doesn't point the finger at LucasArts for having his team at Obsidian rush the game out. He blames the team for wasting too much time fiddling around with relatively insignificant shit.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-07-31-fear-is-the-path-to-the-dark-side
Quote
But however valiant the team's efforts, Knights of the Old Republic 2 would not be properly finished - "broken", the team implores polite old me - and asking LucasArts for an extension was out of the question. "There would have been substantial penalties had we not have made that date," Avellone tells me. But LucasArts isn't the Sith Lord in all of this, the Obsidianites are quick to point out. The house that Star Wars built sent QA people over to help in-house, and did "crucial" work getting all the game's cinematics together. The LucasArts people were so nerdy about Star Wars they could even understand the fictional language written on posters in the game, which resulted in some odd bugs being filed on Obsidian staff who didn't think such a thing was possible.

No, the real fault, Avellone says, was Obsidian's eyes being bigger than its belly. "There's a number of design decisions we could have done to de-scope the game. We should have removed all mini-games - that was a huge waste of time. And all those cut-scenes we had, the in-engine sequences: all of those were such a huge pain in the arse to set up and we could never count on them reliably." There's a reason why so many cut-scenes take place on the Ebon Hawk, and that's because Obsidian could ensure people would be standing in the right places when they triggered. Oh and redesigning the interface was also "a huge waste of time".

Therefore, the way I see it, the game deserves to be unfinished. I'm not into giving developers a pass for failing to be punctual and making good use of their development time, and since he's the LEAD designer, I'm taking his word over anyone else's.

Had LucasArts been entirely to blame for the game's unfinished state, I might have been more sympathetic.

Here you go with your "I'm better than you" attitude. You're not fooling anyone. There isn't a single thought in your head that hasn't been thought before. You're not special, you're not as intelligent as you seem to think, and you're certainly not the only one.

It's time to accept that.
i don't think i'm special, i don't think i'm intelligent, i don't think i'm the only one who's ever thought these things, and i don't think i'm better than anyone

Sending a message to who? If this is just about you, that's fine, as long as you can admit that it doesn't matter in the long run.

You can't do anything verb. Your beliefs mean dick if you can't affect change. Doesn't matter though, this is just a phase and you'll grow out of it.

You're here for a short time verb, if this is how you want to spend it they by all means go for it.
this is how beneath me you are

people told me the same thing when i was 13, and at 22, i haven't changed my worldview one iota—the only thing that changes is my perspective, my knowledge, my education, and my vocabulary, and the smarter i get, the more i realize just how right i am about pretty much everything that matters

i'm going to be 60 years old, and i'm going to be the exact same way, if not even more extreme

meanwhile, you're going to be an insipid cunt for the rest of your life, that's not a phase you're going to grow out of

it's people like you that inspire me to transcend everything that makes you who you are—you're a fucking washed out druggie loser, and i've made it my life's mission to be absolutely nothing like you

nobody goes through a "verb phase," and that's probably the stupidest thing i've heard all year

people might go through an edgy phase in their teen years where they can't figure out who they are or why they're here, so they turn to nihilism or some other stupid philosophy (that has absolutely nothing to do with my own) and start hating the world for no particular reason, they're just going through a phase

the difference is that i have extremely detailed reasons and levels upon levels of multitudinous, layered, and nuanced perspectives for every single one of my deepest convictions, and i can sit here and argue all day about them, because they're literally the only things that i've thought about for the past decade

the kind of people you're talking about don't do anything of the sort, because they don't actually believe in anything

i do, so you simply can't lump me in with them

i could say about you, that you're just going through your late 20s phase where all you do is say extremely stupid shit

because all you do is say extremely stupid shit

You seem to misunderstand what a phase is, given your past two remarks.

Your opinion will change or you're going to end up on the news. I don't think the way you do anymore because I grew out of that toxic mindset. I had a verb phase, verb is in a verb phase, tons of people go through a verb phase.
