What made you become vegan? When did you decide to denounce animal products from your life, and how do you approach grocery shopping?
I mean, ever since I was little, I thought the fact that we killed animals just for our food was horrible, but I figured it was okay, because everyone else does it. Then I got smarter, and just used the excuse of, "Well, it would just be a drop in the bucket if I became vegan. Not to mention, some of my favorite food isn't vegan." But then I got over that, too.

I made the decision over a year ago.

Grocery shopping is much easier than you'd think. Much of what you don't buy is just common sense, and if there ever happens to be a food you've been buying that isn't vegan, it's simple enough to stop purchasing it and find a suitable alternative.

How did you get into that then?
I learned about the philosophy on YouTube and the logic compelled me.

What got you into the whole nihilism thing and the whole "did you ask the baby if it wanted to be born" type of thing?
1. I'm not a nihilist, at all.
2. There is no "did you ask the baby if it wanted to be born" thing. There's anti-natalism.

I've been an anti-natalist for almost three years.

Educate me.

What the fuck are manipulatives.
to my understanding, they're like physical objects that you fuck about with, and you can glean from them various mathematical concepts

Or, conversely, we probably wouldn't be able to detect them either given their level of technological advancement. The Fermi Paradox relies on the completely unjustified assumption that, were aliens there, we should be able to detect them.
i reckon it's a better assumption than

"...but there's GOTTA be!"

Roy was my main in Melee, so I'm excited. Deep down. But not outwardly, because my dickhead friend thought he'd show me the leak even though he knows I hate leaks.

Favorite literary work of fiction?
Flowers for Algernon.

Quote
Favorite literary work of non-fiction?
Haven't actually read any in recent memory.

Quote
Should biological determinism be propagated even if it's true?

Should determinism be propagated even if it's true?
Probably.

Quote
Do you think buying organically farmed animal products can be more ethical than buying conventionally farmed plant foods?
Not really.

Quote
What are your views on organic/biodynamic crop methods? Better or worse than conventional?
It's all the same to me. I guess conventional would be the worse, but we're dealing with bads so bad it's hardly worth it to discuss the betters.

Quote
Do you think insects have moral status?
I have no idea what "moral status" means.

Do we have an ethical responsibility not to harm/kill them? Well, I try not to kill bugs. I let them out when I see them. Should others do the same? Maybe. There's such an unbelievable amount of them, though, it probably won't make a dent if you kill them anyway.

Quote
Do you support agricultural biotech (GMOs)?
Indifferent.

Quote
What ethical theory do you most subscribe to?
Consent is everything.

Quote
What are your views on virtue ethics?
Makes sense to me. I wouldn't say all value is derived from outcomes--I'd say the mere possibility or potential of some bad happening presents a value in itself, because you can be the stopper. But even then, the prevented act is still a positive outcome.

Quote
Do you believe an objective system of ethics could ever be precisely quantified?
Never precisely, but we don't need precision 99% of the time.

Quote
Do you think the is-ought problem is actually a problem without first laying down certain moral precepts?
Not particularly.

Quote
Copenhagen or many-worlds interpretation?
Copenhagen.

Quote
Is life extension a worthwhile medical pursuit, if life has negative value?
If you want to live forever, go for it. I don't think life has nearly as much negative value as birth does.

Quote
Should philosophy be a core subject in primary and/or secondary schools?
I hate to say "yes", because we're already filled to the brim with core classes as it is. But... yeah, probably.

Quote
Do you think the absence of free will devalues moral responsibility?
Absolutely not. If you think you should stop writing your magnum opus of a novel just because you were predetermined to write it, doesn't mean that you should still probably finish the novel. We all have roles to fulfill. You can't just walk off the stage during the show.

Quote
Do you think feminism and egalitarianism are the same thing -- not ideally, but in the current social climate?
Definitionally, yes. In the current social climate? No, unfortunately.

Quote
If you had a big red button that ended all life in the universe, but made no guarantees as to whether life would resurface, would you press it?
Yes.

Quote
Do you think Cobb's totem stopped spinning at the end of Inception?
It's been a long-ass time since I've seen that movie, so I'd have to rewatch it. I'm not even sure if I quite remember what the totem is or what it means when it stops :P

Quote
Career plans/goals you are currently pursuing?
I have to learn how to drive this summer.
I'm writing a fuckton.
And, a lesser goal but still a "goal", I'm sort of trying to build my reputation here. For reasons.
