What measures are we looking at this time around?

MI's only got two, both of which are easy and boring:

Prop 1: This measure would establish the Michigan natural resources trust fund and would change the ways in which revenue in the state's park-related funds can be spent, including allowing for spending on: (A) capital improvements at Michigan state parks; (B) operations and maintenance at Michigan state parks; (C) acquisition of land or rights in land for Michigan state parks. [yes]

Prop 2: The ballot measure would add language to the Michigan State Constitution that requires a search warrant to access electronic data or electronic communications. The ballot measure would also state that electronic data and electronic communications are secure from unreasonable searches and seizures. [yes]

meanwhile, states like MA are getting to vote on cool stuff like IRV and shit. no fair

wasnt totally sure on some of the questions, since how I think I am and how others see I am are different

Also I think one way but usually end up doing the opposite
the trick when it comes to these quizzes is to understand the question behind the question—like, if there's one that says something like, "i've always been into things like basketball and baseball," and you put "strongly disagree" because you're only interested in football and soccer, you're kinda missing the point—because what it's really trying to ask you is if you enjoy games that involve working with teams and physical activity

there's another proposition that has to do with whether you follow routines, so for that one, i sort of had to think of myself in a different/more idealized state of mind—because while i don't happen to follow any routines right now, it's only because i'm depressed as fuck, and don't really have my life in order; so i could put "strongly disagree," but that wouldn't be 100% accurate because the fact that i don't follow routines is very distressing to me—i wish and strive to have a plan that i can consistently follow every day to sort of dig myself out of the emotional hole that i've dug myself into over the past four years—so from that angle, i can put "strongly agree" in order to reflect an ideal

the only proposition that stumped me for a while was the one that had to do with having a wide variety of interests

my gut feeling to that one is "yes," just because i can definitely give you a laundry list of things that i'm interested in—music, movies, writing, video games, etc—but all of these things can be boiled down to just "art"

do i really have a wide range of interests if the only thing i'm interested in is art? and like, philosophy

I've always found these tests kind of silly

regardless, it's activity—do you feel like they missed the mark on your results?

Damn, now I'm curious what Deci wrote. Been a while since I had a good conversation on this topic.
If I remember correctly he wrote something like "Top 10 posts that didn't age well"
Yeah, basically (remember that all banned users' posts can still be accessed if you check their profile):

"Considering the insanity that is going on in America right now, this thread aged very poorly."

you would not have had a good conversation

Yeah, that was something people have found weird about me, how I think one way that's drastically different than how I act in person. I find the serotonin thin weird, too, because it's not like I'm good at planning things, I just dwell on the future a lot and all the different ways things can play out, which leads to a lot of indecision up until the last minute, which drives my nuts
That's the problem with these sorts of tests, a lot of times the answers don't really mean much because it varies depending on how you interpret it.
You clearly know that there is something wrong with the test if it says that Verb is kind and empathetic :)
well, i'm extremely kind to those who i think deserve it, and to be honest, "empathetic" is one of those words that i think perfectly describes me—i've just been known to weaponize it

if i've ever chosen to say something hurtful to somebody, it's not because i don't realize how hurtful it is—it's because i know precisely how hurtful it is; a sociopath/someone without empathy wouldn't be cognizant of that

the two words used to justify each section are obviously broad generalizations anyway—my low dopamine rating has more to do with the fact that nothing in life really makes me happy these days, more than it means that i'm uncreative

you can say the test is silly, but based on what i know about all of you guys, i wouldn't say anyone's results have been totally inaccurate so far—my results in particular sort of corroborate my feelings of being "agendered" or w/e (not that i would ever use such a label to describe myself, but still)

i don't like putting a deadline to these things

there are only a few things i want to accomplish in life, and if they don't happen within the next five years, that's okay

Dad came through on those N64 games, so I can cross one of these off now:

- Castlevania (fucking finally)
- Mortal Kombat Trilogy
- Tetrisphere
- Rat Attack!

as well as an Advanced D&D game for NES called Pool of Radiance, which i believe is the first one out of four

Mortal Kombat Trilogy is also cool, because it's among the first eight games released in the first year of the system's life in the US. These games include Mario 64, Pilotwings 64, Wave Race 64, Killer Instinct Gold, Cruis'n USA, and Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire. I have all of these games except for one now: Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey, which should be easy enough to find. Overall, this brings my total to 56% of the library.

don't really got the money to be spending on no games for a while, but the guy who normally hooks me up with retro stuff messaged me yesterday showing me some pretty cool shit—including the other castlevania 64 game which i don't have, and most surprisingly, a loose cartridge of Power Blade 2 for the NES

this game is worth about ~$430, and is among the top 10 most valuable games for the system

i hope nobody tells him

The Flood / Re: do you like the area you live in?
« on: September 29, 2020, 02:35:47 PM »
objectively speaking, i live in a miserable frozen wasteland filled with old people, trump supporters, meth heads, and ne'er-do-wells (like me) and no one in their right mind would consider it to be a good place to live

but having lived here for about a quarter of a century at this point, i'm fairly used to it, and it hasn't gotten so bad that i ever thought to myself "holy shit, i gotta get out of here"

no matter where i'd go, i'd stay in my home anyway, so it doesn't really make a difference

So is your mom in the living room now?
Do you have to bring her food and stuff
yeah, she sticks in the living room until bedtime, and we basically just can't sit near her

we do have to shop for her, but we're trying to get help from others since my dad and i are trying to self-quarantine—thankfully, a great deal of our relatives happen to live in the area, so we won't be in trouble if we all have the coof

my mom tested positive
How are you guys dealing with it?

Is everyone still in the same house or is she quarantined somewhere else?
same house, only the kitchen has become a second living room

i spend most of my days sequestered off in my room anyway, so nothing changes for me, besides the N95s

still complicates things, but yeah, she's fine

how do people even discover some of these exploits

ive seen most of the trickity tricks of ce speedreunning,  but never the two betrayals OOB

also, i dislike it when people say "hi youtube"
my favorite is how, at 1:06:50, he goes for a completely unnecessary 360 spin with the warthog at the very end of the last level

it saves no time, and if he fucks up, he kills the run, but he does it anyway for style, and now it's part of the WR
