All of the value in a person's life resides in the impact they have on others. Enjoy being wrong.
What would you say determines the value in somebody's life?
Its capacity to suffer.

Okay now that everyone has voiced their opinions, what if I told you it was your kid who would go hungry if this man whose life had no value was not ended?
Still wouldn't kill him.

And nobody was going to miss him
Why does this even matter? Is the value of your life determined by how many people will miss you when you're dead? That's retarded.
This is what Solonoid actually believes, yes.

I thought you said you would rather die tomorrow than stop being vegan? I would. Dying of starvation over a period of weeks doesn't sound very pleasant.

Verbatim what would you do if you were ever stuck in a survival situation (Like trapped in mountains or in woods)?
Would you hunt or what?
Probably. Which may seem hypocritical, but I never said I was a paragon of virtue or anything. There was a time when I wasn't a vegan. Or, hell, maybe I wouldn't care, and I would starve and die.

If pain is suffering, why are you prioritizing animals over humans? They're the ones that are undergoing a holocaust.

I don't care that the dog doesn't care. I don't care that no dogs will mourn for the dog.
The fact that the negative sensation took place AT ALL is the problem.
But of course, you don't think there was a negative sensation, for some (insane) reason.

What you haven't done is 1. Prove that the dog isn't feeling pain 2. Prove why the dog's pain doesn't matter
You're not going to be able to do that. At this point, I'm not even reading your walls until you do that. I'm just skimming this crap at this point.

I don't know about counter-intuitive. Maybe in the sense that most people don't realize that survival isn't a good purpose, nor is it a good reason to reproduce. A lot of people think that.

the pain you would feel if you were shot feeling is majorly emotional You are just so unbelievably wrong. If something cuts a nerve, it hurts like hell. Maybe you've never been physically hurt in your life, so you don't understand what it's like. But trust me, it's physically painful, and it has almost nothing to do with emotions. Nothing.

No ones asking you to kill yourself. It always happens. I say something like, "Life is broken, and we should reject it"--someone always asks me why I don't just kill myself.

All I'm saying is that some people get pleasure out of suffering and to eradicate suffering would be to eradicate one of their pleasures. No, it wouldn't. When I'm happy, I'm not suffering. But just because I'm not suffering, doesn't mean I'm not happy. I don't even... Like, what?

But we don't hate it because that's life. Then I hate life (and everyone else should, too). The reason I don't kill myself is because 1. Euthanasia is illegal 2. I can't be an advocate for anything that I believe in if I'm dead

Yes growing as a person is literally one of the points of living... But it doesn't make suffering okay. Why would I hate it? Anything that's easy isn't worth doing. Because anything that's easy SHOULD be worth doing. The fact that they aren't is a problem with our reality. Also what of the masochists who get pleasure from suffering?
They don't. Punch a masochist in the face--he's not gonna appreciate it. That's not what a masochist is. With BDSM, consent is involved, and that's a big part of the process.

Being raped by ten people at once would leave me with serious emotional scars. If I didn't have emotions it would be fine as soon as they were done and I would never care again. You're insane.

So what verby, you just never look to improve yourself if there is any kind of suffering or difficultly involved?
No, I do. But the fact that I have to is retarded. And I hate it. And you should, too.

I'm 100% sure those experiences (while tragic) helped them grow as a person. There is always something positive to take out of something negative that happens. And what if you're wrong? Which you are. "Growing as a person" doesn't make suffering okay.

Football practice = physical pain though. Of which you have no one but yourself to blame for, since you're the one who signed up. I don't really have much sympathy for you if you're an injured football player. That's what you signed up for, is to get injured, essentially.
I believe the context he's using is suffering pain to improve one's physical strength, stamina and skills.
Duh. It's still your own choice. One of the key things about suffering is that you're not technically supposed to be imposed upon you. Don't like football practice? Stop playing football. It's not suffering.

Oh so now you are the sole decider on what is suffering and what isn't. Ok kid Tell a burn victim, a rape victim, or a holocaust survivor about the suffering you've endured. Tell them that you understand how they feel. I don't think you would, kid.

Yes, I was using a DIFFERENT example of pain than the one you used. Is that hard to comprehend? and it was a stupid one, especially considering that you never really addressed the dog getting SHOT, and moved on to medical shots, making it look like you misinterpreted my post smart move I needed to use an example that there was a pro to in order to illustrate my point. LOL so you're conceding that there are examples for which there are NO "pros" Here though lets use the example you used.
If (hypothetically) being shot gave you super powers, would getting shot be that bad? Not if you lived. they don't, though so what's the point of the hypothetical you're just wasting my time now

I suffered through football practices in order to get better.
I suffered through school in order to get and education.
I suffer through work in order to provide for my family. NONE of this is suffering. None of it. Losing your limbs is suffering. Crippling illnesses are suffering. Depression is suffering. Physical pain, physical anguish is suffering. Torture is suffering.
