The Flood / Do you watch any machinima?« on: July 14, 2015, 10:00:21 PM »
I was looking through my old YouTube favorites when I rediscovered a few episodes of Freeman's Mind. I was like, "Oh, I loved this show. Haven't watched in years. I wonder if he ever completed it?"
Turns out, he did. Currently on a binge-watch of it right now <_< It's as good as ever. But then it occurred to me--do people even watch machinima anymore?... When I think about it, it seems so... 2007. I've only ever watched two series all the way through: Freeman's Mind (which I'm in the process of completing) and this SSBM machinima called Smashtasm, which... watching the episodes nowadays is pretty cringeworthy. I can't believe I ever liked it. How about you guys? I know Halo was super prevalent in the machinima community--especially with Red vs. Blue, but I could never get into that boring-ass crap. Edit: Also, this probably belongs in Gaming, now that I think about it. 34988

From what I heard, Eragon was the worst film adaptation of any YA novel ever.

I don't want to seem callous or whatever, but I mean... Once the thing is aborted, it's dead.
So, like... What does it really matter what you do with it at that point? I mean, it's unpleasant and gross to think about and all, but... 34993

You're forgetting mods, better performance (such as 60 frames), supporting indie devs far more, pirating, etc. Better for FPS's too because of the precision.literally none of this stuff is good lol more precision?... it's hard for you to aim on console? Serious / Re: How to insult a "progressive"« on: July 14, 2015, 11:01:09 AM »I know. But this guy is basically about taking away the rights of individuals based on the actions of extremists, and I can't support that. This is the same guy whose most popular video is the one where he pontificates about how Muslims shouldn't have the right to build a mosque near ground zero (of the 9/11 attacks, of course). 35002
Serious / Re: How to insult a "progressive"« on: July 14, 2015, 10:11:40 AM »
Christianity is no less insane than Islam--Islam just has a lot more fundies. I don't know why, but it just happens to be the case.
I hope Pat Condell treats Christians with the same level of prejudice and contempt as he does with Muslims. 35003
Septagon / Re: i think there should be a new poll on moderation style« on: July 14, 2015, 10:03:13 AM »Clearly nigger and faggot don't qualify either under the current set up.I'm glad you clarified this in particular, because earlier, it seemed to me that you were trying to make an arbitrary distinction between traditionally offensive words and words that you'd be hard-pressed to find any malicious context for. Like, "here is a list of words that are considered offensive, and aren't okay to harass people with, and here's a list of words you are allowed to harass people with, because who could possibly be offended by these words?" I'm glad that's not what you're saying. When you ask me where I draw the line--I draw it the same place you do. I just make it clear that anything is possible. I'm not saying that the idea of "chair" being used as an insult isn't ridiculous--but it's possible. The easiest scenario that I could contrive would be that... Maybe someone might have had a traumatic experience with a chair at some point in their life. Is that silly? Yeah. Is that realistic? Not really. Is it within the realm of possibility? Yes. Should you harass that person by calling them a chair over and over? Probably not. That's all I'm saying. 35004
Serious / Re: How to insult a "progressive"« on: July 14, 2015, 09:45:41 AM »
Agreed on everything he said, except for the final bit about islamophobia. I fear for what type of person I'd be if I didn't have a muslim as a close online friend for 8+ years.

Septagon / Re: i think there should be a new poll on moderation style« on: July 14, 2015, 09:30:05 AM »I typically call people by whatever pronouns they wish. Though I do tend to view people by their biological sex in my head. Not something I've been able to get past.I agree with everything here, except I would still contend that, though you should be confident enough in who you are not to get offended by such things, that doesn't give us a free ticket to be dickheads. You think it does, and that's the ultimate thing that you haven't really explained yet. 35007
Septagon / Re: i think there should be a new poll on moderation style« on: July 14, 2015, 09:20:48 AM »I don't even know how you could possibly have a malicious intent when calling someone a chair.Neither do I. Does that mean it's impossible? We found a way to give "dingo" malicious intent, somehow. You don't agree, but we did. 35008
Septagon / Re: i think there should be a new poll on moderation style« on: July 14, 2015, 09:17:19 AM »You do know we are going to be testing this nowIt's probably not gonna work for a variety of reasons. Mainly 1. I'm not offended and I don't feel harassed 2. Your intent isn't malicious Out of curiosity, how do you feel about transfolk? People who prefer that you use pronouns that don't match up with their biological sex. Do you go out of your way not to follow their wishes? If not, why? 35009
Septagon / Re: i think there should be a new poll on moderation style« on: July 14, 2015, 09:11:43 AM »
There are some people who feel harassed when they are called "sexy". How could that be? It's not bad to be sexy, so how could that ever be considered offensive to anybody?
This is the kind of shortsightedness I'm dealing with here. 35010
Septagon / Re: i think there should be a new poll on moderation style« on: July 14, 2015, 09:09:09 AM »Why are you such a chair tho?See, again, the only reason it doesn't work here is because you're not harassing me--you're trying to make a political statement. Now, if I walked out of this forum and you trailed all of my posts by responding with that every time, I might have sufficient grounds to report you for not only harassing me, but spamming the forum. |
