Congrats! :D

Also, inb4verbysaysyou'reevilforthis.
He already knows how I feel, so, I don't really see a point, especially considering that I'd get (undeserved and disproportionate) flak for it.

I prefer tightly knit communities anyway.

Who gives a fuck there's no reason I can't like both sets of movies

hadokens are projectiles, though

i don't think i need to explain the obvious tactical advantage of having a projectile lol

and that's literally the most basic motion in street fighter--if you think that's bad, you'd hate to see vega's ultra motion

because you can't do a full circle motion in street fighter without jumping (because you'd tilt the stick up)
(well, you can, but it's extraordinarily difficult)

quarter circles are faster, and easier

there are half-circle motions for some fire balls, though

you do a quarter circle motion on your joystick towards your opponent, and you hit a punch button

i mean, i'm talking about people who, no matter how hard you try to explain to them, can't do a simple hadoken in street fighter

and they say things like, "why do you hold back to block? that's stupid"

it's okay to suck at a game

it's not okay to give up before you even learn what you're doing

that's all i'm saying

It's stuff like Contra and older NES games that just absolutely stump me. Some N64 games too.
>contra

you run, and you jump, and you shoot

like, sure, the game is notoriously difficult--i can't beat it without the code, either--but that's understandable

and it goes back to what i said in the OP--i'm not expecting new players to be good

i just expect them to exhibit, you know, basic learning capabilities

I dunno, there are a lot of games i've tried and just couldn't play because I didn't understand it.
if it's fucking nobunaga's ambition for the NES, i understand

if it's fucking super mario, i'm sorry, but... there's something wrong if you can't play that game

Gaming / Re: Have you ever had someone play a retro game, and...

But if they do try and just don't understand it?
that's the thing

video games aren't really all that complicated

I do have a legitimate question

What's wrong with some people not being good at old games?
nothing

this thread is about people who don't even don't even try

because they're too lost in their own preconceived notions of what games are like to play anything "new"

and by new i mean anything they haven't played before

If that's the right term.

yeah I was talking about Super Metroid
what about it was bland, then

because that's just twenty-three flavors of incorrect

the game is pure atmosphere--if you're not attuned to that sort of thing, i guess i can understand, but the game is supposed to make you feel alone, like a rat in a maze--almost claustrophobic

I actually played Metroid Prime: Hunters first, when I was much younger than that, and then later played the original Metroid, Super Metroid, and Metroid Prime.
the one you were talking about specifically, though

super metroid?

unless you're saying they're all the same, in which case...

LOL

Is that the rule? That they forfeit the round if some shit like that happens? It almost looked like no one knew how to handle it until big guns baldy came up.
Yeah, that's what happens. GamerBee could've chosen to let him off the hook, but he didn't. Can't blame him, but that move in particular kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. All he wanted to do was win, and I think that was his hamartia.

Infiltration vs Gamerbee probably the best match of the tournament.
Agreed.

I just feel sad after that grand finals. The looks on their faces throughout that whole ordeal were just murder.

Double elimination; Momochi was still in winner's. Everyone in the tourney gets two shots.

I'm honestly happy with whoever wins.

I think I'd like to see GamerBee win more, just because of his heart. And he's come so close in the past.

have you played it
I've beat it. It's hard at points, sure, but it's just not that fun or interesting of a game to play. I had to literally force myself to play it, it was so bland. I played it when I was 13 or so and going through my period of trying to play all of the classic games and watch all of the classic movies and all of that, just so I could have a general knowledge of pop culture. That's how I found amazing games like Final Fantasy and Zelda, and how I found boring games like Metroid and Super Mario.
which game

What I said about Momochi or Tokido winning earlier?

I'm honestly feeling GamerBee now. I think it's HIS time.

I'd be happy if any of those three won, though.
