I find owning pets to be ethically questionable.

I say as I have two dogs lying on my lap.

33362
Uh, yeah, sure. If you truly don't have anything to say, then you shouldn't care about your right to free speech.

...Duh.

Thing is, everyone has something to say.

But not everyone has stuff to hide. Like me.
So that's a poor comparison, Snowman.

Is anyone ever going to even acknowledge the other three nominees?
>doesn't name a single one of them

...can you?

I'm not a terrorist, so I don't give a fuck if everything I do is recorded. I've got nothing to hide. If they want to sit there and watch me jack off, I don't care.

Ok, but that's a miscast because I look nothing like him. Or that other guy. Try a mixture of David Duchovny, John Hamm, and Russel Crowe if they all had a baby together.
my casting was not based on looks

lol

"unexpected jihad" isn't funny

it's a joke that shoots itself in the foot by announcing the fact that it's meant to be "unexpected"
but i do expect it--it's in the title of the video

even when i don't expect it, it's just dumb, not funny

There's also Jade Cocoon for the PS1, which is essentially Final Fantasy and Pokémon combined. You go about exploring heavily forested areas and capture these freaky insectoid creatures in cocoons that you can use to help fight for you. They get stronger as they level up, and you can even "evolve" them by having your wife merge two of them together. Monsters can be merged infinitely, so there's virtually no limit to the number of monsters that you can create.

The music is fantastic, and the art was created by Studio Ghibli. Seriously.

All the dialogue spoken by important characters in the game is voice-acted. And pretty well, too, if you ask me, but I'm not the greatest judge of that.

Oh, and the game uses Resident Evil controls when exploring. Kind of odd, but it works.

I redact my last post somewhat. There are some games I love that no one ever really plays. Many, actually.

One of them is a fighting game called Ehrgeiz for the PS1. It's a fighting game with a standard arcade mode, which is very fun on its own, but it also has a neat little dungeon crawler mode. It contains special appearances from a few FF7 characters, as well, but they served as the only real reason anyone ever picked the game up.

Solid game, though. Lots of fun characters, even if a lot of them were just expies of Tekken characters.

Gaming / Re: Fallout 4 leaked footage...on Pornhub
« on: August 12, 2015, 04:56:04 PM »
It's funny because PornHub is the last place one would expect to find non-porn-related video game content, specifically for a video game that has yet to be released for public use and thus such content is sought after by potential customers in order to find out what content the product in question contains.
Considering the joke has been done in the past with other games, it's definitely not the last place I would expect to find it.

Rick And Morty dissects humor on occasion.

I recently found out that this show utilizes retroscripting.
Wow.

Never has a thirty second clip made me want to start watching the entire show.

No, I'm exaggerating, but unfortunately not by much. Thankfully, highly specialised jobs like doctors--which require a PhD--still have an incredibly rigorous "weeding-out" process. I was thinking more of Bach degrees which are almost nothing to our generation.
Right. Engineers, then. I would refer to the little addendum I gave above.

There is a lot of talk about whether the market is becoming over-saturated with engineering degrees.

I would agree only in the sense that engineering majors are some of the most cocky and insufferable people I've ever met, bragging about how valuable their degree is. And they're fucking everywhere.

Their cocksuckery aside, however...

Quote
It's hardly illusory that if everybody has a PhD, the PhD is worthless. Sure, if in 200 years everybody has a PhD then they're more intelligent than almost all of us today in absolute terms, but the point of credentials and higher education is to be relative. To separate the intellectual wheat from the chaff.
Sure, but wouldn't it be nice if there was no chaff to separate from the wheat to begin with? Why is the chaff a necessary component of society, assuming "chaff" means "uneducated, unemployed, NEET layman"?

Personally, a society made up of college-educated individuals who aren't crippled by debt sounds totally rad to me.
I don't see the... societal necessity of "the chaff".

I mean, I know I just said earlier that I don't believe college should be necessary... but I still think that, like all good things, it should be encouraged.

Quote
If everybody was a doctor, there are too many doctors.
It's not like doctors can only ever be doctors. The beauty of free education is that it would, in effect, be unlimited. That guy I mentioned earlier who's trying to fulfill his dream of getting a master's in everything could, quite feasibly, do it.

"Humor can be dissected, as a frog can, but the thing dies in the process and the innards are discouraging to any but the pure scientific mind." - E. B. White

As a yearning linguist (or just an admirer of the English language), I tend to find the innards of a joke to be highly fascinating. I think people who dislike when jokes are explained are like people who dislike when magic tricks are explained. They think it ruins the fun, whereas I like to use the explanation--the knowledge I have just gained--to develop my own capacity to be humorous.

Once you know how something ticks, it's a lot easier to emulate it.

Though, sometimes, I do tend to appreciate a joke that's good enough to stand on its own legs without having to be explained. I just wouldn't go so far as to say that the humor is completely drained upon explanation.

Honestly, if any budding engineers are afraid of not being able to land a job because there's "too many" on the market, they can rest easy knowing that they can easily find a career doing something else. That's what minors are for. And double/triple majors. I know a guy in my uni who's trying to major in everything.

Seems like a lot of work? Oh well. That's tough.

Don't come to college with any big career aspirations if you don't expect to do some hard work.

That's life.
That said, you should be able to do it all for free.
