So you're just going to keep being wrong then...
what a fantastic response

sorry, but i'm afraid you're the one who's wrong--YET again

What direct quote from batch did you use? I'd like to see the thread if you don't mind.
lmao i'm not gonna dig through batch's post history for this

the whole reason i PARAPHRASED him was because i was too lazy to find the initial instance in the first place

so i PHARAPHRASED him for the sake of clarity and getting the general point out there

Solitary confinement has recently been seen as a form of torture.
Would you call it a fate worse than death? That's why I asked.
Depends on how you serve the death. If it's quick and painless, yes. If it's something like being burned alive or suffocating for minutes, then no.

whats the difference? Dying is dying. If you're gonna kill someone because they're unfit for society and has done something sooooooo horrible shouldnt they get the worst fate possible?
Because one is a mercy and the other is a torture.
If they're getting their life taken away does it really matter?
If you're looking at it from an ends justifies the means perspective, no. If you're looking at it from a more ethical and humane perspective, yes.
I just want justice.
in other words, you're an emotional child, and you're the reason why it's so difficult to argue for the death penalty

Philosophy is an outlook on life, outlooks being subjective.
false

there are right outlooks, and there are wrong outlooks

A paraphrase is when you take a direct quote and rewrite it for clarity
which is what i did

Explain to me how you were varying the usage of the word semicolon.
semicolon, noun--a term that batch may or may not have misused in place of another word

that simple

The Flood / Re: Why doesn't Verb capitalize his letters?

You weren't paraphrasing the actual word he used because you have no idea the actual word he used.
that's what makes it a paraphrase

you really need to try harder

There's no right or wrong in philosophies.
wrong
Quote
I feel like their are certain rights every person is born with and that it's everyone's responsibility to uphold these rights.

Ask slash how he feels about that.
just because you DISAGREE on a subject doesn't make it subjective

scientists disagree with each other--they have different theories about physics and the nature of reality, and sometimes, two different theories will conflict with each other

one of them is right
one of them is wrong

it's the same thing with philosophy

You aren't varying the standard usage of an expression
yes, i am

now you're just being a retard on purpose

You are guessing what word he used, not giving a synonym or rewriting it for clarity.
i guessed which word he used for the SAKE of clarity

making it a paraphrase

you should probably kill yourself--i've never destroyed someone this hard before

How Verbatimesque.
it only "fell through" because you're stupid

a monkey could've figured out what i was saying

I get why others would want to
then why in the holy mother of fuck would you say anything like "i don't see the appeal" when you actually do

Also that wasn't a paraphrase, it's supposition.
it was a paraphrase, because i didn't know the exact quotation, so i embellished it with what i thought was said without detracting from the main idea that he mistook a punctuation mark for something else

you lose, again

The Flood / Re: Why doesn't Verb capitalize his letters?

You weren't using it in an unusual way, you were just misusing quotation marks.
"other expressions that vary from standard usage"

Quote
If I were implying you were an idiot by calling you a "genius" I would be using the word in an unusual way.
what a terrible example

There is a philosophy that you are the only actual person and that everyone else is a figment of your imagination.
yes, it's called solipsism

solipsists are either right or wrong--it's not a matter of opinion

i, for one, am not a solipsist, and the fact that i experience life in this corporeal form basically confirms that, from my perspective, that all solipsists are wrong--if solipsism were true, there could only be one solipsist

You met exactly zero of these qualifications however.
Rule 8a. Quotation marks are often used with technical terms, terms used in an unusual way, or other expressions that vary from standard usage.

fucked

Quote
Moreover you weren't actually quoting batch as you are unclear of the actual word he used incorrectly.
that doesn't matter at all

it's called a paraphrase, shithead

Quote
If I thought batch said jugnuts I wouldn't put it in a quotation because it's what I think, not a direct quote.
it doesn't HAVE to be a direct quote--and you shot yourself in the foot by posting that link that proves me right

The Flood / Re: What do you believe happens when you die
« on: July 29, 2016, 12:37:06 PM »
All Verb is really saying is that the idea of being dead will be nice to him now.

But when he's dead he'll just be dead.
And that deadness in and of itself is nice, whether you are able to experience the niceness or not. That's what I'm saying.

15168
The Flood / Re: What do you believe happens when you die

And in this thread you still see a wild verbatim displaying his usual behavior of confusing fact with opinion.

Truly breathtaking.
philosophy is not a matter of opinion
god you're such a retard

YES, philosophy is a fact-based discipline. Philosophy is the process of describing reality. There are ACCURATE descriptions of reality, and there are INACCURATE descriptions of reality. That's what philosophy is all about. There are no philosophies that are about personal opinion. That's NOT what philosophy is about.

For example, there either is or isn't a god. There can't be a god "in your opinion."

The Flood / Re: Why doesn't Verb capitalize his letters?

It was incorrect to use them as you weren't actually quoting anyone.
1. quotations are not the sole purpose of quotation marks--if language were that simple and black and white, we wouldn't have gotten anywhere
2. i was quoting batch when he thought a first-grade punctuation mark was called something else

you stupid fuck

15170
The Flood / Re: Why doesn't Verb capitalize his letters?

language is all about balancing clarity and concision

you can be super concise and never add anything remotely unnecessary to your sentences by your personal standards, but you're going to be sacrificing some clarity

you can also choose to make your points crystal clear, throwing in a lot of precise and often unnecessary details--but then you're sacrificing concision

adding quotation marks to that sentence was me balancing out concision with clarity

by the way, it's super embarrassing that i have to explain this to you

15171
The Flood / Re: Why doesn't Verb capitalize his letters?
« on: July 29, 2016, 12:26:31 PM »
That sentence didn't need quotation marks.
there's many things i type that i don't necessarily need, but that doesn't make it wrong to have them

what is your point

oh wait you don't have one

15172
So do you guys mind that I give some more personality to the characters and skip small inconsequential bits

And adding a bit more flair and oomph to the action scenes

I mean I didn't really kick Roxanne and Nosepass into the sky but I did Double Kick it
nah, that's good

we all know how it all plays out in the games--spice it up with your own flair

part 16 was awesome by the way

And in this thread you still see a wild verbatim displaying his usual behavior of confusing fact with opinion.

Truly breathtaking.
what's breathtaking is that you don't seem to know what an opinion is

what happens after you die is not a matter of opinion
the definitions of words are not a matter of opinion
philosophy is not a matter of opinion

these are fact-based subjects, so you back up your arguments with facts

that's how it works, tyke

Most people don't play video games at all.
most intelligent people would assume that i'm referring only to young people in first world countries, because that is the demographic video games are geared towards, and it's one of the biggest industries in the wold

so yes, most people play video games--and if you think i'm referring to all of humanity, then you're just a pedantic retard
Quote
Or, for the relative few that do, most don't spend their free time watching others play video games when they could, y'know, play them themselves. Which is the point.
and most of those people would be intelligent enough to figure out the appeal of watching someone play video games, because they're intelligent and not slack-jawed retards such as yourself

The Flood / Re: What do you believe happens when you die

Yeah but it's still not sublime because you're dead. It can't be sublime or the opposite of sublime, it's not anything.
i'm not dead, though, so i can contemplate the idea of nothingness and feel a certain way about it

just because i won't feel that way about it when i'm dead doesn't invalidate how i feel about it now

Gaming / Re: Speedrunners

same thing you experience before you're born, etc.

AKA absolute perfection, bliss, sublimity, peace
Well it can't be bliss or sublime because you don't have the capacity to feel that when you're dead.
which is in itself blissful and sublime
Read the definitions of these words
read into what i'm saying

the thought, the idea of nothingness is blissful and sublime to me

i realize that, according to what i believe happens, you don't feeling anything, period--but me, sitting here right now, contemplating that idea from the outside, it seems wonderful to me
It seems sublime now, but not when you're dead.
it doesn't need to--it just is, factually
how can it be sublime when you can't feel anything
i just told you--because the idea of losing all your feeling is sublime to me

there's no fear, no hunger, no sadness, no anger, no hatred, no anything--there's no happiness, either, but happiness is overrated anyway

« on: July 29, 2016, 11:39:50 AM »
How so? It's nice, but if no one cares except for losers like Anita, then why should game companies do it?
Because it's about equality. It doesn't matter who wants it. It's the right thing to do.
No no no, that's a privileged and not a right in video games, developers shouldn't be forced to add things they don't want because 'it's the right thing to do'

You're basically putting a mandatory standard on art.
Except nobody's doing that. Way to draw unnecessary conclusions like the typical reactionary moron.
Right, no ones forcing them except every other 3rd wave feminist strapped to Anitas back.
Nope, they're not forcing anyone to do anything.
