Serious / Re: Censorship
« on: August 09, 2016, 07:56:08 PM »
Localization where they censor the medium just because some are offended = censorship.
When people are harassing devs, and they submit = censorship.
The reasoning is irrelevant. If the developer mandates the change, it's not censorship. Period.

If anything, a developer submitting to the deeds of their buyers is the exact opposite of censorship.
If it's people who are not the devs who want change, and the devs have to change it because of those people = censorship.
They DON'T have to change it. Ever. They do it because they want to.

What you're basically arguing is that game developers don't have a right to personal autonomy when it comes to their own products. They're not ALLOWED to change their products, because YOU said so. You fascist pig.

Actually I was criticizing the comparison between smoking and eating meat in general so....
yeah, and eating meat is worse in every way that matters

There are a myriad of health benefits to eating meat whereas there is only damage from smoking. I don't see vegans suffer from drug withdrawal like legitimate addicts do. Considering how there isn't widespread claims from vegans on how difficult it was to "quit" eating meat, comparing meat to smoking is just downright fucking silly.

You can sit there and give legitimate reasoning like the ethics of the animals, or being able to form a diet with a substitute source of protein and nutrients. However, to say that meat, that has its own health benefits provided how informed and smart you are with how you consume it is the same as something that is only there to damage the body is just objectively wrong.

you were talking about addiction, not health benefits

You did not just compare eating meat to smoking.
You're right. Eating meat is WAY more addictive than nicotine.

Fuck your poll options.

Anyway, what Flee said, and I'd also add that a lot of what people consider "censorship" is not actually censorship at all.

During the localization process of a video game, for example, it's not censorship for its developer to change certain elements of the game if they're deemed too inappropriate for international releases, because the game developer mandated it.

It's only censorship if a third party comes in and changes shit around without the dev's greenlight. So, for Street Fighter V, when Juri's outfit was made less skimpy, that wasn't censorship--that was Capcom's own decision. It would be like saying Nintendo is censoring Princess Peach all the time, because she never wears skin-bearing outfits.

well you're retarded then
for not caring about some dumb feature i wouldn't have bought the game for anyway?
classic "I don't like it so nobody can" verbatim response
it's more of a "i don't care so nobody should" type of verbatim response

The whole subreddit is just people posting various videos of Sean saying you could see other players lol
is it that big of a deal? i don't get it
Two twitch users decided to meet up at the same location and once they were there they couldn't see each other
i know what happened, i just don't see the big issue with that

if in every interview you saw for a game the dev said it would have a feature, and then it didn't have that feature wouldn't you be annoyed too?
not if i don't care about the feature

i don't really care. i don't need to pretend i'm eating meat to cope with being a vegan.
same

once you've stopped eating something for so long, you begin to realize how gross it really is

i can't even think about the taste of chicken anymore without retching, and it used to be my favorite food

but whatever gets people to stop eating the real stuff, i suppose--but then again, if you think about it, perhaps synthetic meat analogues would just create even more demand for "real" meat down the line when veganism is more widespread

literally the only thing i knew about this game was what they revealed at E3 that one year, so whatever silly things have been said about the game since then by the developers on twitter, i don't really care about, because i never had that expectation anyway

just looks like a cool game, fam

The one reason I want to try this out is so I can see how shitty the combat system REALLY is.

It doesn't seem like anyone likes it except Witcher fans.
It's got a steep learning curve which can put off entry level players but it really isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. If you gave up on the game because of combat then you're just shit, no two ways about it really.

I never bothered playing Witcher 1 & 2, Witcher 3 was my first for the series and I absolutely adored it.
how much would you have adored it if there were no fuck scenes, at all
Lack of sex scenes would not change my opinion on the game. In fact, it's completely autistic to judge a game based on whether it has tits or not. TW3's nudity wasn't handled immaturely anyway.
i'm sure it wasn't

TW3 is also open world, which is getting old for me
that's an interesting thing to grow tired of

i mean, i'm sort of tired of it too, but only to the extent where it's done badly

i always appreciate a well-done open world, though (BotW better do it the fuck right)

V isn't nearly as symmetrical and that base, while strong, is extraordinarily unstable.

X may not be as useful our needed, but does that stop love?

Can you shun something based on so little a problem?

Leeching is a harsh word, whose to say X wasn't here first and that he's being pushed out from jealousy?

Truly a magnificent letter, a Greek God whose not just set in stone.
>as symmetrical
what

there are no varying degrees of symmetry--things are either symmetrical, or they're not

It's so simple and stunningly symmetrical.
A stable base that dares heaven to fall so that it may lift it once more.

X and x, the same in every way save size.

A truly wonderful letter that brings my mind peace and comfort, knowing that I too can stand on my own with just a little encouragement.
All this applies to V as well, except V actually has a unique sound instead of leeching off all the other letters. You could take X from the alphabet and nothing of value would be lost. Just replace it with the letter it's copycatting.

V also has the benefit of not being used in every video game or movie title that's trying too hard to sound cool, edgy, or extreme.

Verb, I've seen enough Deathly Hallows and Hogwarts houses merch in that store to know that it's true.

Further proof that Rowling is a hack and a sellout.
hack, yes

sellout, who gives a fuck

if you've ever done anything for money in your life, you're a sellout

it's a meaningless term
