I personally find her voice insufferable and whenever I ask anybody who does like her portrayal why, they give me bullshit like "She's a fan of the show". I get so fucking agitated at that answer. It has no basis on her ability to portray the character; if that's all it took I'd be the best Hei from Dark Than Black out there. I also find that she makes Asuka come off as way too whiny, although she toned down the bratiness a bit in NTE.
at least she can actually do a german accent

Netflix version on the right side

Spoiler
i would've put this in a spoiler tag, probably

anyway, i actually like this new translation more, simply because they don't say "i love you" in japan (and even if he did, the actual words he was using do not directly translate to that anyway), so having him say something else is not only more accurate to the language, it makes their blossoming relationship feel a lot less rushed

kaworu was always my least favorite part of the show because of how suddenly he appears and how quickly the show expects us to give a shit about him, but this makes his appearance just a bit more tolerable

idiots will probably consider this to be gay censorship or something

Anything is better than Tiffany Grant's God awful performance.
i never watched that dub, but it was my understanding that she was everyone's favorite

I don’t have Netflix, considering I already have the Japanese BD box I’ll probably pass on watching it this go around. Let me know how Asuka’s VA is.
oh that's right, they did a redub

if it's good that'll be so sick

so you should probably check it out

as the biggest anti-weeb on the internet, it gets my seal of approval

maybe i'll review every episode or something

it's whataboutism when you use an irrelevant example to try to excuse or distract from the other example

it's not for shutting down all relevant comparisons between similar things

in fact, by refusing to acknowledge the relevant comparison i'm making, YOU are the one saying "but whatabout MY example" without even realizing it, thereby making you a complete fucking idiot

the coinage of this term was a mistake

https://nintendoeverything.com/game-freak-elaborates-on-pokemon-sword-shields-inability-to-bring-in-pokemon-not-in-the-galar-pokedex-pokemon-home-more/
Quote
One of the hot topics surrounding Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield this week is how not all Pokemon will be supported in the games. If you have a creature from another Pokemon title not in the Galar Pokedex, you won’t be able to transfer it over.

Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori have attempted to address the situation a few times over the past few days. In an interview with Famitsu, they commented on it further, as well as Pokemon Home and more. Find a summary of what was shared during the discussion below, courtesy of Siliconera.

– With the shift to the Switch, the amount of time needed to make the graphics more beautiful and the animations more lively has increased
– Another aspect is the fact that the Pokemon series has reached over 1,000 Pokemon (including form changes)
– Because of this, apart from the graphics, balancing for new Pokemon with new abilities has become very hard
– This is the reason behind the decision this time, and they have judged that it will be hard for all the Pokemon to appear, even in titles going forward
– This was a decision that had to be made sooner or later, Masuda said
– Even in Pokemon Sun/Moon, bringing in every Pokemon was something barely manageable
– With Pokemon Sword/Shield and the need to redo models, they had to make a decision
– Ohmori says that despite this, the Wild Areas and story will have quite a bit of content to make up for it
– Regarding whether Pokemon may be added in future updates, this is currently uncertain
– Even if not in Pokemon Sword/Shield, Game Freak plans on making those Pokemon shine in future titles going forward, via Pokemon Home
– They do not want the players’ past Pokemon to feel worthless
– Inspecting the option of reusing Pokemon receiving new graphics through Sword/Shield in titles going forward
– With the inclusion of gimmicks like Mega Evolution and Dynamax that affect all Pokemon, this would mean even more graphics production and balancing, so making it happen would be hard
– It’s not about adding more Pokemon in as they receive graphical upgrades, but rather a change towards bringing in Pokemon from Pokemon Home that fit the game
– The reason behind the name Pokemon Home, is that it is a place to return to
– Bringing Pokemon out to games going forward, is like bringing it on a trip
– In terms of the feelings of the Pokemon, says Masuda, it’s like them saying, “This region is cold, so I’ll be staying at home”
– Game Freak are thinking of adding some gameplay elements to Pokemon Home
– Masuda has the concept of bringing Pokemon out to even the spinoff titles from Pokemon Home in mind, and that this will be considered in the future as well

Some more pickups, albeit pretty boring ones:

A Bug's Life
All-Star Baseball 99
Bass Masters 2000
Extreme-G 2
Fox Sports College Hoops '99
GT 64: Championship Edition
Mission: Impossible
Roadsters
San Francisco Rush: Extreme Racing
Turok: Rage Wars
Twisted Edge Extreme Snowboarding
Waialae Country Club: True Golf Classics
Wayne Gretzky's 3D Hockey '98
WCW Mayhem
WCW vs. nWo: World Tour
World Driver Championship
WWF Attitude

Nothing TOO exciting here, but this makes 95 out of 296, so I'm almost a third of the way there.

There's so many fucking racing games on this system, it's kinda unreal.

But this? Just a small amount of all pokemon available and having to pay to transfer a bunch of your older ones? Yeah, fuck that.
the galar dex could be huge for all we know, but i see where you're coming from regardless

whoa, you know what i just realized?

black, white, gold & silver are the only paired games in the series whose mascots dont revolve around the colors red and blue

like, dialga and palkia? blue & pink (close enough)

xerneas and yveltal? blue & red

it could be argued that solgaleo and lunala dont fit, but theyre orange & purple which is basically the same thing
i think b/w and g/s still fit if you think of it more as warm vs. cool rather than red vs. blue

gold and black are warmer colors, and silver and white are cooler colors, so they still fit the scheme

or at least, that's always how i saw it

Don't get all the hate for Skylar

I don't know what everybody thought she was suppose to do when her husband is exposing her children to dangerous criminals
she has every right to be a prissy soccer mom about everything, but it still doesn't make her likable, and it doesn't help that she is the way she is well before she has any idea what's going on

i thought the whole subplot with her sister and the tiara could've been cut short if she was just a bit more forgiving (the lady was only trying to do something nice for her sister's baby, even if it was way over the top), and i found it difficult to get behind her attitude about it—like okay, be angry, stealing is bad, but it's not like she killed or mugged someone for it

she's smart though, and it's always satisfying to watch her put walt in a corner once she starts catching on to things

Season 1 was a 6/10 with maybe one or two great episodes, but overall it was way too slow and kinda boring at times
Season 2 is probably a 7/10, so it's definitely getting better, but still not what i'd call "great"

i wish i didn't hate almost every character

there are only three likable characters in this entire show, but at least walt finally did something good for once towards the end:

Spoiler

excited to start season 3 now that things are finally heating up a bit
season 3 was about as good as season 2, 7/10

so, after seeing a lotta people complain about the whole "no nat dex" thing, ive realized im kinda in the unpopular opinion camp

i dont think it's the end of the world

yes, it is questionable that they advertised Home as a place where all your pokemon can be transferred (and im sure they realized about the potential limbo some pokemon can be in, since it's a one way trip for all games except SwSh)

ive seen a lotta people complain about not being able to transfer or even see their favorite pokemon, and i think they should move on? im sure they have sentimental value but it's silly to play the game with old pokemon rather than trying something new. thats, of course, just my opinion

ive seen a lot of people claim theyre not gonna buy the game anymore because of this. while i can understand not wanting to support GF, i just kinda think people are overreacting a teensy bit...
i can see where you're coming from

i'm definitely not angry about it, just disappointed, since "catching 'em all" is the original tagline for the series, and completing that dex is what makes the games fun for a lot of people

"remember that thing you've always wanted to do as a kid? NOPE, you can't do that here, not anymore"

i'm okay with trying new things (i always try to train an entire team of newly introduced pokemon every generation), but knowing my all-time favorite since gen 1 probably isn't going to be in the game because it's not popular enough kinda sucks

it's not the end of the world, just a kind of a bummer, you know

So apparently there won't be a national pokedex? I don't even own a switch so I can't play these, and that's still disappointing to me.
well, the gen 7 games didn't have a national dex either, but that wasn't really the problem, since you could still use pokemon bank

the problem is that the new system that's replacing bank (pokemon home) is only going to allow pokemon from this gen's regional dex

so yeah that's super lame and i hope they fix that
