It's not inconceivable that "entirely new expansions that took the production team months to make and are distinct from the original" could be genuinely made, or have been made, but right now, i think we're at a point where the line between "honest expansion" and "mendacious money grabber" is becoming too blurred to make any meaningful distinction

if one of your favorite games had all of its DLC included on release, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference--you would not say, "huh, this game seems to have more content than i bargained for"--you would look at it as the complete game that it is

so where do you draw the line between "complete game" and "bonus content"

you wouldn't say MGSV is a complete game, and you wouldn't call a chapter 3 DLC "bonus content"

I adored it when it first came out, but now they're probably my least favorite games in the main series.

Gen IV's slow clunkiness + Pokémon followers + dated & ugly visuals + HORRIBLE music = poop remake

At least they gave you the GB Sounds.

Okay, sorry for the delay, but I finally gave this thread a look.

Pretty good review. Your writing style is pretty entertaining to read, and even though I know the games almost as much as I know myself, I never skimmed through a single paragraph. While your perspective on the Gen I games is not terribly unique--which isn't a bad thing (but having a unique take on a game is one of the best ways to generate some discussion in the thread itself) it's always good to read something that I can wholeheartedly agree with every once in awhile. Except one thing--Team Rocket is the best thing about the anime, FYI.

Some suggestions: Perhaps at the end, you could pose the audience a question, like "What's your favorite Gen I Pokémon?" or "What's your best memory of Gen I?" Having a little audience interaction goes a long way in generating more feedback and discussion.

I would also suggest that you add in more images--particularly when you're talking about Pokémon designs. Not only does this add a bit of color to the review, it lets us see for ourselves why you like Pokémon like Nidorino and such. That's something I need to work on in my own reviews as well.

Smaller images are better--in-game sprites could work, but make sure you credit the sources for courtesy's sake. Also, be sure to format them properly, using the [ center ] and [ spoiler ] tags if necessary.

Content-wise, you said pretty much everything you needed to say, and very thoroughly at that. Good job.

Also, question--whatever happened to your video reviews? Would you consider doing more of those in the future, or are you done with that?

This is all fairly obvious if you simply take the time to step back from everything and observe human behavior and traits.

Do you class expansions (IE like what they do in Fallout/ TES with a new area/ quests/ weapons/ armour) in this or do you just mean like map packs and stuff?

The latter is far more egregious, and I hold a lot more contempt for it. But DLC in general is something I've always despised, just on the principle that no one should ever have to pay more than $60 for a complete game. No matter what.
