I still like that Kylo Ren is the angsty, unstable young man Anakin should have been.
because he totally wasn't exactly that, or what

i think you just meant adam driver played it more convincingly, to which i'd agree

It seems to be a growing trend in many communities, not just Bnet.

What's his genetics argument? I agree with the media decentralization, but I'm not going to watch the entire video.
Basically, he argues that conservatives are breeding more than liberals, citing this as a source. I think this makes sense on an intuitive level. "I hate kids," "I don't want to have kids," and "I never want to be a parent" are all very common sentiments among young leftists. Conservatives, being a lot dumber and far less responsible (my corollary, not his) tend to be much more open towards having children. And when they do, they'll raise them to be conservative, of course.

Isn't it just the DOOM 3 campaign remastered? Or is it new?
Dude, are you living in a cave under a rock?
smh

If you're not trolling - yes, its 100% new. No relation to D3.
I don't follow gaming news and I heard about Doom 3 being remastered, hop off my nuts.
You're actually not the first person I've seen who hasn't heard of the new Doom.

I guess they didn't advertise it very well?

that's an inference you can draw right away

then you're trying to divide by zero

Why those scenes specifically? Like what makes those stand out to you?
Hayden's acting + the music. A lot of actors have trouble conveying more than one emotion with their face at a time, but after Shmi dies, Hayden's expression goes fluidly from utter devastation and pit-in-the-stomach sorrow to murderous, genocidal anger in a short (yet natural) amount of time.

This is complemented and reflected beautifully by John Williams's score, which is naturally mournful at first, but starts spiraling out if control in a very sinister, un-Star Wars-like way as soon as Anakin raises his head, having decided what he's about to do next. The first time I saw the scene, I remember even feeling a twinge of fear for what he was about to do--what would I do if I found my mother tied up and tortured to death?

It evokes all these dark and unpleasant thoughts that you simply don't get in the OT, but it's not totally out of place in the narrative, either--this scene is essentially the birth of Darth Vader; the first time we see him do anything unconscionably evil, yet we obviously sympathize with him.

As for the other scene, I mainly enjoy it for all the lore/world-building it offered. Kamino is one of my favorite planets in the Star Wars universe, and I love how they managed to tie the origin of the stormtroopers to the story. You hear about the "clone wars" in passing in A New Hope, so that draws some curiosity as to what the clone wars were and how it all started and whatnot. It's just a cool scene.

The first scene, though, is top 5 Star Wars scenes for me, easily.

finished my SW marathon

that was fun, but in terms of my rankings, only one thing has changed: AotC has gone up (7>3>R>1>2=6>4>5)

previously i had it ranked as my least favorite prequel (still is), mainly because it's so bogged down by its obligatory romance scenes--but honestly, it's not that any of them were poorly executed, because none of them were; i just have a personal distaste for romance scenes in general and i probably shouldn't let that affect my overall opinion of the film, but at the same time, i feel the exact same way about RotJ in a lot of ways--so i've set them equal

also, AotC has a lot of what i'd consider some of the best scenes in the entire franchise and i'm not being ironic

so the prequels are back on top while the OT's huddled in the basement once again--something about that just feels right

>She is incredibly adapt at the force despite having zero training (Her connection to the Skywalker family if there even is one is meaningless as Luke still needed some guidance from Ben) to the point of being able to mind trick a stormtrooper despite zero experience in doing such.
>Manages to save Finn from tentacle rape with knowledge of the stations door controls despite never being on such a ship and only wandering for broken scraps of metal all her life.
>Can go toe to toe with Kylo Ren in a lightsaber duel despite having never used a lightsaber before and Kylo was trained by Luke fucking Skywalker, the only hero in the OT that bested Vader.
Try giving this a read.
Quote
At least Luke fucking sucked at everything[...] and got fucking destroyed by Vader in V.
Not a fair comparison, because that's movie #2 of the OT. TFA is movie #1, so it's only reasonable to compare Rey to the Luke we know from ANH. Where he displayed some Mary Sue-like tendencies as well--on top of being an annoying brat.

I wonder if that has anything to do with most people in our democratic society wanting the monarchs to remain. . .
the only thing remaining here is my bemusement
Having a non-political head of state has its utility. I would rather have a non-partisan Queen than a president half the country hates.
