I'm the cockroach of Sep7agon. You'd have to hire one of the best exterminators in the country to get rid of me.
uh, that's me

you're more like a dust mite

no one cares because you're microscopic

What did you think of the switch? And did you miss me?
I think it looks like a pretty neat system, but overpriced hardware and NO GAEMS will keep it from being a day-1 purchase for me. At least for a month, or perhaps a whole quarter.
well technically if it's not a day-1 purchase at first it never will be
well technically your mom is a whore

Good you're back now I can talk to someome about the new nin stuff

What did you think of not the actual events? I assume you've probably listened to it as much as I have, if not more.
The new EP was good. Underwhelmed on the first listen, but it did indeed get better on subsequent listens.

It's good to hear that Trent's still capable of making heavy music, albeit with a modern twist. I'd say my biggest gripe with it is the lyrics, which sadly continue to be a little on the generic side (which was HM's problem, as well). You may have noticed, but Trent has a habit of recycling the same rhyme schemes over and over again--I'm sure you've noticed that he REALLY loves the word "away," and rhyming absolutely everything with it. It's like clockwork.

That being said, the instrumental work--as always--is splendid. Crisp, layered, heavy. Slow-burning. Meditative. I was impressed to see a few lo-fi tracks thrown in the mix, as well--I've developed a huge fondness for that rough texture.

Favorite tracks: She's Gone Away, the Idea of You, and Burning Bright. Dear World, is good too--sounds like something straight out of Hesitation Marks, which is an album I think I appreciate a lot more than most NIN fans (despite the subpar lyrics).

Not outstanding, but a solid, welcome release.

Have you listened to deviations 1?
You know it. The Fragile is my all-time favorite album; I wouldn't miss an opportunity to listen to its outtakes. One Way to Get Here is fucking AMAZING and White Mask is pretty dope. If you haven't heard the album that he produced for Saul Williams, I'd check that out. A couple of instrumentals from that record actually made it onto Deviations as well--one of them being a personal favorite of mine.

Overall a great experience. No other artist would've done the same thing--it's great to be a NIN fan.

Did you see patriots day?
Not yet, actually. Is it good?

On topic however. What games have you and your friends been streaming? Is there a long term goal for the channel or are you guys just doing it for fun?
Yeah, just for fun. For now, at least. Four or five summers ago, we actually did it to help raise money for Child's Play (even managing to raise $200 one night), but we had a rigid schedule planned out, and we streamed nearly every day all summer. This got exhausting, especially because we never quite broke past 20 or so concurrent viewers, so we just kinda stopped. We figured it would be smarter to gain a substantial following before trying to get people to donate, and we decided to take a few years to mature before we start things up again.

We play random stuff, mostly. We streamed some Street Fighter matches one day, and then SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom and even the World Ends With You in the next. I wanted to introduce them to Jade Cocoon--this obscure-ish JRPG for the PS1 that I'm fond of--so I've been streaming that lately. I also have an interest in speedrunning, so I've been practicing Mario World and Pokémon Red, which were my go-to games to stream back in the day. And I have a few other ideas as well.

We don't stream as vigorously as we used to--mostly because most of us have jobs and stuff now, but weekends are always a safe bet.

Our greatest achievement was when one of our crew managed to beat SM64 in 20:51--which was actually somewhere in the top 100 speedruns for the 16-star category at the time. It's moments like that that still give me high aspirations for the project.

also, OP clearly has no vested interest in the ethics behind meat-free diets, so there's no sense in proselytizing or w/e

that said, veganism is pretty easy--idk why snake is trying to say it's hard

The sheer arrogance and moral superiority of vegans bothers me to no end
At least you admit that we're morally superior.

But that shouldn't bother you--it should inspire you.

11208
Fair enough but I just don't see why it would matter at all. If your partner has a dick and you do too it would just make sense to say you're gay. I would. Saying otherwise just makes you seem insecure about it.
Dicks can be ignored.

I'm not too sure if drug companies making less money is decidedly all that good.

Actually, I'd probably want the pharmaceutical industry in particular to be making as much money as possible.

Most probably say this because of the nostalgia they have for the games they played when they were young however it does makes sense to encourage kids to play older games, the simpler controls and visuals is a lot easier for them to grasp.
The visuals are horribly ugly and a lot of older games have clunky controls.
oh don't be silly

Obviously, if you're introducing your hypothetical child to some OG games, you're not gonna have him play something that looks and controls like shit. You're gonna have him play a game that's stood the test of time, like Mario, Metroid, Castlevania, and Zelda.

The only games from those four franchises I would say have "ugly visuals" are the original Super Mario Bros, Super Mario 64, the original Legend of Zelda, and to an extent, Ocarina of Time, which admittedly all look quite dated--but to say that any of them have clunky controls would just be a lie. They're like butter, even 30 years later.

You're right about one thing, at least: N64 games tend to age the worst. People are trying to say that Ocarina still functions well, and I totally disagree--I respect Ocarina's importance to the industry, but it's easily the GoldenEye 64 of action-adventure games. In that it aged like piss. Meanwhile, a Link to the Past has aged like fine wine.

OT:
I've never heard anybody say this, but I don't see any issue at all with getting your kid to play older games. Especially because a lot of great games were released during that era. You shouldn't force them, obviously, but again, I've never even heard of such a thing. Chances are, they weren't being all that serious.

I find your dismissive attitude towards retro games kind of irritating, actually--if you played something like Metroid, I think you might actually like it.

How hard was it lurking for a month without being able to yell at people?
honestly it wasn't that bad

i had 3 alternative outlets, all of which had people from sep7agon, so it was almost like i wasn't banned at all

So how did you spend your time this last month?
not a lot, but i got some more personal writing done which is nice

found myself a job recently that'll allow me to work from home, which is even better

got back together with my old streaming buddies and did some speedruns and "random game-a-thons" at twitch--we still can't break 20 viewers, but we're working on building a consistent schedule

but mostly, the time i would've spent here was mostly spent on discord and bungle

also lurking

Verb I'll rip your face off and eat it.
fun fact: the reason the ban was so draconian and exaggerated is because LC had previously offered me his face on discord; i was simply following through with his kind proposal

that's when i found out LC stands for "lying churl"

next time you see him, blow him a raspberry for me

oh look i'm back

first and foremost, i'd like to thank everybody who supported me over the past month--the ban was certainly deserved, but a 2 month punishment was absolutely hysterical, and i'm glad i was able to negotiate a shortening to 1 month with cheat

i apologized to everybody that needed to be apologized to and i'm glad to be posting again

to everybody else--especially the ones who voted to keep me banned--i'll try to apply more talcum powder next time

The Flood / Re: I finally setup dual monitors
« on: January 02, 2017, 06:33:09 PM »
I don't see how buying a second monitor to enjoy is any different than buying a Nintendo DS.
Because the two setups are being used for different purposes. The DS's touch screen wasn't implemented to give the user more workspace--it's there to create a field through which the player can interact with their game in a unique, tactile way which introduces a lot of new innovative mechanics and such. It's not really comparable.
That was an awful example, sorry. I meant they're both luxuries, so what's the difference?
There is no difference.

If you have that much money sitting in your account you're a moron.
