People are silly if they think R-rated capeshit films are the future just because of movies like Logan and Deadpool.

These two movies are R-rated because it works with their character. What the hell does Spider-Man do that's R-worthy?

nvm
Was that a spoilery thing?
I asked a question that could only be answered with a spoiler, so I decided against it.

10474
nvm

I found a cap that makes my climb speed like 10% faster, so probably.  Otherwise, you probably need elixirs.
I just got that thing. For some reason, it was a bitch to get--but super worth it.

10476
I'm picking up duplicates of (almost) all my good weapons, so I'm more comfortable with using them.

Still--repairman, where you at?

10477
I fought my first boss out in the overworld: a hinox. Pretty boring fight. It was like a very slow Asylum Demon from DkS. Got a shitload of gems from rocks in his cave though.
Well, I found a Hinox.

I would've beat him, too, until a fucking Lynel appeared out of nowhere to back him up.

As happy as I am to see some classic Zelda 1 enemies making their returns, I can't say I missed these motherfuckers.

Anyone have preferred rupee earning techniques? I've just been gathering all the apples in Hateno, cooking them, and selling. 5 apples cooked sells for 50. I'm being stingy with all my gems though.

savescumming the gambling game doesn't count.
I usually have an abundance of Bokoblin horns & teeth, and they sell a decent amount. Opals and amber are pretty valuable, too. Ever find a diamond in those ore veins? 500R apiece.

Fancy that, verb wants reparations
what do you mean
Reparation has a very specific connotation in America so it's interesting to see that outside of its regular use.

I was also implying that you love gibs
i'm a liberal, of course i love gibs

horse controls are shit (steering feels terrible but maybe that improves with the bond)
It does. Is your horse monochromatic? Those ones are harder to break. The spotted ones are supposed to be easier, but I really wanted the blue one. <3

weapon degradation and inventory (would be nice to repair weapons you like and hold a lot more of them... i do like the defradation idea but  i hate losing cool weapons)
Still crossing my fingers for some kind of reparation system.

Spoiler
You'll also be able to boost your inventory at some point.

10482
Can anyone drop a spoiler about whether we get some way to travel or climb faster later on? I met an NPC early on that hinted at getting wings at some point.
I think I'm behind you in terms of progression, but do remember that you can warp to shrines, Skyrim-style, if your horse isn't fast enough for you (even though it probably should be). As for climbing, I couldn't tell you.

10483
It's not the first boss, it's just a big enemy presented as a sort of boss, with a big name and health bar. There are supposed to be a few of them scattered around. I've already found a second hinox.
Ohh, okay. So like the Stone Talus, assuming you've seen those. I dunno if I'd call them bosses.

10484
Well, it's not Zelda if the first boss isn't simple (assuming they're ordered). I'd rather not have known all that extra information, though--"I'm four towns in" would've been plenty.

Chances are, I'll end up enjoying the hinox fight more now, due to lowered expectations. Which is fine; I like liking things, but I'd rather like them organically.

I'm glad to hear about the caves. I was starting to wonder where they were at.

10485
I just got a couple of really cool swords that I'm basically never using until I can confirm I can get more of them. ::)

I hope you guys aren't progressing too hard along the critical path, and allowing yourself to get lost in the game's idyllicism. I've been dilly-dallying a lot, and I'm yet to reach the second town (though I'm heading their today).

Fuck weapon durability, especially with how weak every weapon in this game is.
I'd have less of an issue with it if I didn't find myself growing attached to some of my weapons.

They're easy enough to get back, but at the same time, I kinda like feeling helpless.

10488
Being able to remap buttons would be great. Sprint and jump being opposite each other is super awkward. Maybe it's better ln the switch? But damn, jumping feels so right.

Any opinions about stamina vs health containers?
I'll be alternating between health and stamina boosts, I think.

Also, protip:
>pause
>options
>change jump button
>on

Jump will be remapped to B, but you'll have to press X to run from then on. It's a little better.

10489
that's not really how people play dark souls, is it

Not crazy about the generic RPG menus and equipment/loot setup they have (I much prefer the standard Zelda format), but I think they knocked it out of the park giving you access to a bunch of tools early on, like in A Link Between Worlds.
What's important about the menus is how streamlined they are. Since you can collect so many things, I think they just wanted you to be able to scan through your items as quickly as possible--and to that effect, I think it does the job, generic as they look.

My only real hang-ups from the start of the game were how long it took me to master the controls. It's very off-kilter for a Zelda game, and it took me a bit of getting used to--I'm still kinda getting used to it. This isn't necessarily a bad thing--if there's one thing I appreciate about game controls, it's learning them myself through gameplay--but there are certain maneuvers that just feel a little awkward to perform at first. Trying to jump while dashing is uncomfortable because you have to hold B and then press X, until I realized there's a small window after you release B where you can still perform a dashing jump if you hit X fast enough--or at least, that seems to be the case. Don't quote me on that.

I'm also using a Wii U gamepad, which is a big clunky piece of shit, but nonetheless.

Also, the frame rate does have a tendency to dip in certain spots. It's not horrible, but it's definitely could-be-better tier.

It's a little bit of a shame too. HZD actually looks pretty cool. It's Battleborn all over again.
nah you can clip through a couple small objects so it's a shit game, ask LC

10496
It won't be till after midterms till I can get the game and possibly the switch although I'm still not sure if I want to buy cards, especially since YuGiOh seems to be actually getting fixed temporarily.
Y'all think going for the switch is worth it.
i just got it for the wii u

I've felt that way since I started gaming, yeah. Basically what Ushan said--visual style > # of polygons.

Guys

I LOVE THIS GAME

How's the open world? I was really concerned that it would be empty and boring.
Not sure where your standards lie, but I'd use the word "exquisite." It's brimming with life, and while there's not always stuff to do in every inch of it, the atmosphere and sheer attention to detail is breathtaking.

It didn't disappoint, and I had uncharacteristically high expectations for it.

My only trifle is the lack of facial expression when characters talk.
