That looks great for 10 minutes of work. Draw Anarki from Quake Champions.

Even independent news websites are picking up on this now.

https://attackofthefanboy.com/news/bungie-changing-forum-requirements-due-to-destiny-2-backlash/

Its playercount is crashing though, so this only serves them right.

http://cogconnected.com/2018/02/destiny-2-player-count-alarming-low-trials-nine/

996
i wonder if this is a common thing for gaming websites, i've never seen or heard anything like it
Bungie is doing this because they're getting a lot of negative feedback. There's some sort of "scandal" with Destiny every other week nowadays, ranging from disk-locked content to very unbalanced features to shoveling more and more microtransactions and P2W content in there game to making content that was originally available in the game now only accessible to people who bought the DLC to making artificial changes to the loot systems so people would spend more real life money on the game and so on and so forth. They've received a lot of criticism from their playerbase over this and are now adding more and more barriers to their forums in an attempt to minimize the voices of the disgruntled players (and trolls that go with it). Thing is that no one on OffTopic or Gaming gives a shit about Destiny so they're all just caught in the fallout now. They pulled this shit once before with Destiny 1 but back then you could just load the free demo and that'd be enough to keep your account open. The fact that they only announced this change 20 hours before pushing it through just stands to show how they just wanted to silence any fallout as soon as possible. It's sad, but Bungie is little more than that these days.

997
Does anyone have a link to the original announcement?
https://www.bungie.net/sv/Forums/Post/242827681?

When they first made the thread it was sitting at almost +30. Then people over at OffTopic noticed it. I can only imagine it's at -100 now.

Some of you moved on a long time ago and probably felt a bit angry when B.next was introduced. It's honestly a bit hard for me to come to terms with this nail in the coffin.

I started using the forums, mainly offtopic, when I was 16 years old and now I'm almost 20. I never stopped posting and became very attached to the community. I laughed, I joked, and I made others happy. It's difficult seeing almost 4 years of enjoyment finally ending. Throughout that time I interacted with so many people and saw those same faces among others come and go and now that's all gone. Almost everyone I met is either on an offsite or is no longer active. The remaining posters are children with no sense of humor or creativity. It's a place I can no longer look forward going back to as those who made it good have been kicked off.

Sad.
I know the feeling. I started using the site when I was 13 and made an account at 14. So many great memories in private groups. Ranking up, getting that heroic, legendary, mythic (and losing it almost instantly after a ban)... I actually met my girlfriend on their site 5 years ago, so it is a bit sad to get the boot after all this time.

999
And it just ended a minute or two ago. If you try to post now, you'll get the "You must have progressed to the farm in Destiny 2 with at least one character in order to contribute to this forum" message. Shame that it came to this, but that's the end.

That's it. Just tried posting my farewell and was denied. Press F it's all over.
I posted just now and it worked fine. You sure it wasn't something else?

On desktop when I tried it denied me, then it gave me a 500 error code page. I then tried on mobile and it denied me again.
Well shit. I'm still there. Maybe they're doing it in waves or something.

The Flood / Re: Depression/Good starting alcohol
« on: February 07, 2018, 12:53:32 PM »
I don't really see how. I mean, it's not like it'll kill me like Krokodil or some opioid. And no one IRL has to know.
You and I both know that you very well see how alcohol will fuck you up. Don't do it dude. The pain will get better without it just the same. And it's pretty delusional to think no one has to know. Alcoholism leaves lots of traces and people will discover it.

Good man.

Should we try to recruit people or nah
I dropped the sep7agon name and link a few times. Might be worth doing the same.

I was just about to make this thread myself and posted in their announcement thread along with many others. Bungie has fallen a long, long fucking way from how good it used to be.

The Flood / Re: What’s A Good Contact Name For GF
« on: February 05, 2018, 06:44:38 PM »
this is a thing that you can do?

what the fuck
you don't know how contacts work in a phone?
i don't know how anything works on a phone

silly humans
you save the person's phone number under a contact and you write their name in
i figured, i'm just confounded that it lets you do such a thing

i don't get to decide people's names or usernames on literally anything else, so
The difference is that there's no name or username tied to a phone number. Well, there is, but only in the registry held (and sometimes made available) by phone companies and the white pages. It's not like an account for a service where you have to enter a name and address that are always tied to it. For all intents and purposes, it's just a number. And because people don't want to remember a set of digits for the people they know, your phone just lets you add a name to each number (kind of like the old school notepads where people would write the name next to the number).

Gaming / Re: Streaming
« on: February 05, 2018, 06:23:44 PM »
streaming would honestly be a dream career for me, but it's one of those things i don't think my parents would respect very much, so it's out of the question until i become self-sufficient

especially when it's such a volatile thing
Yeah, it's pretty fun. Not easy though. It can be fairly demotivating getting started and actually getting somewhere with it is insanely difficult and requires an enormous amount of luck. Virtually all the big time streamers that do it as a career either have a gimmick going on (which I can't really imagine you doing), a background that started them out with a good number of followers from the beginning (real life celebrities, big names in certain communities, well known YouTubers that moved to streaming...) or some specific skills that make members of a certain group want to follow them (pro players, top tier speedrunners, commentators, well known modders / creators...). And the ones that don't fit into these groups almost all started streaming when it first became a thing so they're just early adopters who got a good chunk of the fledgling audience back in the day. Not saying that it's impossible, but's it's close to that for someone to just start doing it and make a career out of it. Now that every random dude with a PC and an internet connection can set up a livestream (case in point: yours truly), it's very difficult to stand out from the hordes of others trying to doing the exact same thing. Twitch had 1.5 million active streamers in 2015. In just two years time, that number has grown by almost a million with no signs of a slowdown ahead. Not looking to discourage you, but it's definitely something you should put some thought into beforehand and consider how you're going to go about it. As Mark said, there's also a lot of practical stuff that goes into it too.

Almost $1200 already, damn. Don't pay attention to the 91 being out of line, it's probably just a bug or something. Thanks Chally, I'm about to quit my job to do this full time.

Well fuck I just realised the shiny Smoochum means that I have no slot for Swinub. Is the extremespeed Dratini in Crystal?
Wiki says you can get one that might know extremespeed from the Master's quiz in Dragon's Den.

The Flood / Re: Should law enforcement be above the law?
« on: February 02, 2018, 08:23:52 PM »
That's a pretty poor way of wording it, but yes. Under certain circumstances and for the purpose of fighting crime, law enforcement should be able to take measures that would otherwise break the law. I can't see how you would argue otherwise either. Take getaways, for example. Someone shot up a bank, stole money and is now speeding away in a vehicle. Are you going to tell police officers that they can't run red lights and that they have to follow the speed limit while the criminal is getting away?
