Serious / Re: Why I'm not a feminist (let's kill the myths, people)« on: March 25, 2015, 12:43:08 PM »Honestly, what's needed is a gradual, cultural and educational shift to alleviate the stigmas attached to straying away from gender roles, not third wave "games and magazines are sexist" tumblr feminism which seems to be the norm now.Agreed to this, but that isn't to say that all of feminism is futile or pointless. 8495

Serious / Re: Why I'm not a feminist (let's kill the myths, people)« on: March 25, 2015, 12:23:41 PM »It's not really about dismantling this though, it's about accepting more than just that. While it's obviously true that there's differences between male and female children and their interests in general, the fact that anything that strays from this is regarded as something obscene that should be discouraged and looked down upon is pretty shit and harmful to men just the same. But the problem with this is that gender roles and stereotypes, on average, tend to actually be true. It's been scientifically documented that male children tend to gravitate towards boisterous and masculine toys such as cars and gadgets, whereas female children display a preference towards nurturing and caring with dolls like they would as mothers. Indeed, this isn't just exclusive to humanity, it's been recorded within the Animal Kingdom too.If feminism benefits everyone, I'd like to see what feminists have done to help men.The idea is that by getting rid of gender stereotypes, men would also no longer be forced into the "manly man" role that dictates that men always have to be strong, in charge and free of emotion and that while tomboyish girls are fine, feminine boys are unacceptable. 8497

To be fair, he had it coming. The show was funny and Clarkson was the right man for it, but he was kind of an asshole. Props to the BBC for actually going this far with it and sticking to their decision. I would've pretty disgusted had they caved in to the masses and decided that as long as you're popular enough, you can be a racist prick punching a staff member because the food wasn't up to your standards and simply get away with it because you're a fan favorite.
Sucks for the show, but this was a good decision. 8499
Gaming / Re: BLOOD BORNE HYPE THREAD« on: March 25, 2015, 11:29:44 AM »You have to keep in mind though that each of Bloodborne's weapons have their own moveset and so many combo's to them, where as in Dark Souls it was just the case of a different looking weapon that swung the same. Sure they looked nice, but I can't tell you have my greatswords/normal swords I knew that did the exact same motions.Every single weapon in Dark Souls was different from the others though. They often were similar, but not even two normal swords were identical. While the normal R1 attack was usually the same, things like the swing speed, range, running/rolling/backstepping attacks and strong attacks were almost always different. Bloodborne's weapons might have more detail to them and their moveset, but the grand total of 13 melee weapons with one per category (one greathammer, one greatsword, one shortsword, one scythe...) does not make up for that. That's just my opinion though. I've put so many hours into Dark Souls 1's PVP that I have extensively used pretty much every even remotely viable weapon out there. Even with better movesets, Bloodborne's PVP seems so similar to Dark Souls' that being restricted to such a low number of weapons would be a major disappointment for me. 8500
Gaming / Re: BLOOD BORNE HYPE THREAD« on: March 25, 2015, 10:29:07 AM »ITT Flee points out everything he doesnt like about Bloodborne so he doesn't feel like he's missing outThere probably is some truth to that, lol. That being said though, I do think that Bloodborne looks amazing and I would feel like I'm missing out even if it really wasn't as good. But I must say that I was expecting more. The extreme diversity of weapons, armor and environments and the punishing nature of the PVP were some of the things that I loved the most about the previous Souls games. Bloodborne seems to be missing a lot of that. 8504

Serious / Re: Jeb Bush doxxes over 12,000 Floridians in the name of "transparency"« on: March 25, 2015, 06:05:35 AM »There's a pretty big difference between "yeah, you can publish the correspondence we received from our constituents to promote transparancy", and "yeah, you can publish the correspondence, including full names, email addresses, phone numbers and so forth."I can't really blame him personally. I imagine one or several staff members will be fired over this, but all they did was post the data that was provided by the state department. It's not like Bush posted it himself; all he probably did was agree to the disclosure, and that was it.Which might as well be posting it himself since he gave the OK for this to happen. I'm really not a fan of the guy myself, but blaming him personally is a little much. Chances are he agreed to this under the logical impression that his staff would not publish the sensitive personal information that goes with the correspondence when he gave the OK. 8515
