Guess we'll have just to disagree then. Going by what I read on Reddit and 4chan though, there seem to be a lot of people who see it my way. Although I suppose it is open for interpretation, I'm still going to say that I don't think it fits the Joker's persona. And irregardless is an actual, albeit nonstandard, word that has been recognized by many linguists and reputable dictionaries like Merriam-Webster and the Oxford English Dictionary. You had me doubting my English skills for a second there, but I'm glad to have found that I'm still familiar with this foreign language.

Anybody who willingly lets someone cut off his face isn't particularly subtle about their insanity.
The difference is that Joker didn't allow that to happen to this face because he wanted to show off his insanity. Having a tattoo saying "damaged" on his forehead simply screams "look at how insane I am!", which isn't something I feel like the Joker would do. The face, the scars, the clothing and so on all show that Joker just doesn't care and does whatever his insane mind feels like, completely irregardless of what impression it would give to others. The tattoos on the other hand have no purpose but to get others to see how insane and broken how really is. The green hair, colorful suit and make-up are all expressions of how Joker does not give a damn about how others see him. He's breaking social conventions and completely goes against what's common and normal. And he does this not because he wants others to see him as crazy (because he gives no fucks about how he is perceived), but because he really just is batshit insane and does whatever he want. A tattoo screaming "damaged" on his forehead completely goes against the Joker's traditional mindset, as there is absolutely no reason for such a tattoo other than to show others "look how little I care and how crazy I am".
