Depends. Now it's a little earlier than usual because of my exams, so usually around midnight.

The Flood / Re: I actually found good defenses for pedophilia
« on: May 28, 2015, 06:38:22 PM »
There is so much absolutely wrong with this that I don't even know where to start.

>but kids masturbate and enjoy those feelings, so they will have no issues with being molested by some 50 year old dude as the physical side of things cannot cause any harm! After all, a child discovering his or her body and learning those pleasures means that no sexual activity they are brought into could be bad!

>but kids understand how the birds and the bees work and they know what sex is, so they can obviously wrap their head around the entire concept and fully understand everything it entails and all of its consequences!

>but there is no such thing as a sense of privacy and personal autonomy, we are forcing these kids to feel bad about themselves and we should instead brainwash them into thinking that there is nothing wrong with being forced into very invasive and sexual acts by old men when they cannot possibly even understand what it means!

While I am against demonizing pedophiles for feelings and urges they did not chose to have, this is an awful "article".

You're going to have to explain the issue to me, as I don't see anything wrong with internet relationships.

I'd rather die like that than have ketchup on my fries, you filthy pleb.
Give me vinegar or give me death!
Death, because anyone who puts vinegar on his fries doesn't deserve to live.

I always found these tests rather pointless. They focus too much on the doing / behaving than on the feeling / wanting. By a lack of a better word, I generally tend to manipulate people and the situation. I deliberately choose the "right" course of action and behave accordingly, regardless of what I might feel. I am a quite the introvert and much prefer peace, quiet and a safe / stable / secluded environment, but I often have no issues with having to be the center of attention or being quite vocal when it suits me.

According to the test, I am ESFJ. Apparently, this means I am the "cheerleader and quarterback of the school, setting the tone and taking the spotlight", while I mostly kept to myself throughout high school. I supposedly love organizing social gatherings, despite not having done so in ages. It says I am a social creature thriving on staying up to date with what my friends are doing, despite only having a handful good friends and never even really using Facebook. I also think it's funny that "discussing theories or debating European politics isn't something that interests me", when this is literally one of the things I'm currently working on. I also should like fashion and my appearance, despite wearing nothing but plain (t-) shirts and jeans, and not having shaved in like a month. The one thing it did get right is that I'm pretty averse of conflict and prefer plans and organized events over spontaneous randomness.

tl;dr, survey is flawed because it primarily accounts for what you (can) do, not for what you actually feel and want. I'm a quiet and reserved introvert, but because I am quite good at playing the role that suits me best, it completely misreads me. Maybe I'll retake it tomorrow and just answer differently based on what I feel, not how I can act.
It's not uncommon to deny the reults of a personality examination, or a pscholgical evaluation.
Just saying it's strange. I've taken a dozen of these already, and not a single one had me as an E. This one did, despite picking "I'd rather not socialize" at every such question. It's whatever though, not as if this matters.

Serious / Re: Oregon passes law to regulate vaping
« on: May 28, 2015, 08:42:21 AM »
I don't know (or care) about this enough to have a very informed opinion on the matter, but I don't immediately see the issue with this.
Laws made from knee-jerk reactions to new trends by people that are largely uninformed about the science and practice of vaping and health in general typically aren't good laws.  Of course no one cares because vapers are in the minority.

Democracy at work.
A quick google search reveals that vaping does not seem to be as innocent as it may sound, with some of the most renowned health organizations in the world suggesting regulation and high caution because of the lack of current knowledge on the long term dangers for one's (and others') health. Going by what I just read, this law definitely does not appear to be a random knee-jerk reaction with no foundations in reality, especially the provisions regarding minors.

All of those are talking about feelings changing, though. I am still not entirely comfortable in social situations and am still rather shy. I don't organize events and usually prefer just staying at home. I just don't have issues getting over that and playing a certain role when I think it's a good choice.

The Flood / Re: Best way to cool an overheating laptop
« on: May 28, 2015, 04:36:56 AM »
This one time, I went over to a friend's place to play some video games. We were playing BF2 and his laptop had issues overheating. Eventually, he ended up holding it ouside through the window (it was snowing back then) to cool it off. We were in the attic, so it was one of those slanted windows in the roof. His laptop ended up slipping out of his hand and sliding all the way down the roof before getting stuck in the gutter. In the end, we got to climb out on a slippery, wet and steep roof at 3am to retrieve the laptop hanging over the edge of the building.

We succeeded, the laptop still worked and we went on to game for the rest of the night without it overheating again.

The Flood / Re: So yeah....The Babadook
« on: May 27, 2015, 04:07:46 PM »
Great movie, didn't care much for the ending though. Spoilers obviously.
Spoiler
I really would have rather had it to where when the kid had his mom pinned down on the ground that she would have killed him or perhaps the kid killing his mother with one of those weapons of his. The movie did a good job of representing the Babadook as the mom finally just losing it and really should have ended on a somber note of one of the two of them dying. That whole her screaming at him "you're trespassing" shit for him to go into the basement and get fed worms shit was just weird and felt like it killed some of the quality of an overall great horror movie.

Spoiler
Yeah, that ending was just as strange as Mama's ending.  The rest of the movie made up for it though.
I loved the ending. It was really well done, in my opinion, and shouldn't have ended the way you said.
Spoiler
Sure, they could've just had the mom die and end it with that, but I felt that this sent a much stronger message. It was already very clear that depression is somber and that mom was losing it and crashing, so having one of them die wouldn't have sent that strong of a message anyways. I much prefered it this way. To me, it meant that no matter how hard you try, mental illness is never just cured. You don't simply get over psychosis and schizophrenia after such a traumatic event. I loved how they portrayed it as it not being something that you can just get over or something that has to end with a big bang (like someone getting killed), but that even those who seem okay actually have some pretty serious skeletons in their closet that they are constantly fighting to control and that still play a role in their daily lives.
