The Flood / Re: TIL hugbox« on: June 04, 2015, 03:13:11 AM »...the fuck is a hugbox?Besides what Verb said, on the internet it's often used to describe a site/forum/community that shuns anyone with remotely different opinions than the rest. It's a feel good circlejerk where everyone agrees. For example, a SJW forum where people with different opinions are not allowed so that the same "we're right, everyone else is wrong" rhetoric can be continued in all comfort without anyone to criticise. 7601

The Flood / Re: Weirdest site you've found on the deep/dark web?« on: June 03, 2015, 05:41:38 PM »oh yeah, and because it's not indexed, you can't access the deep web using a regular browser like chrome, because it filters all that content out automaticallyThat's only the darkweb. Deepweb is perfectly accessible through normal browsers. 7606
The Flood / Re: Weirdest site you've found on the deep/dark web?« on: June 03, 2015, 05:40:01 PM »Can someone actually explain to me what deep web is and what classifies as a deep web-site?Basically, the deep web consists of all internet pages and websites that aren't indexed by traditional search engines. However, most people misuse the term and use it synonymous with "darkweb", which are websites relying on private and hidden networks. These networks are only accessible through specific tools, most notably the Tor proxy network. You cannot browse them or use the likes of Google, as the only way to access them is through the direct url (which usually ends on .onion). Because of this increased anonimity, the darkweb is very popular for illegal activities. You'll find places like the Silk Road (sale of drugs, weapons, illegal narcotics), high end hacking communities, child porn and a ton of illegal downloads on there. If you don't know what you're looking for, it's generally slow, boring and completely uninteresting. But to answer the OP: if you don't know all this and aren't familiar with tools like Tor, you've never been on there. It's not something you can just accidentally wander on. OT: Same as most, I suppose. Some illegal materials, drugs / guns, hitmen websites, anon image boards, sites hosting illegal downloads, hacker groups sharing all sorts of information and tools. I did some research on it for my BA thesis on encryption and the law. 7607

Gaming / Re: Call of Duty Must Die!« on: June 03, 2015, 03:57:41 PM »I don't feel like that about most CoDs.Which is subjective, as millions of people do feel that way. In all my posts, I have simply been addressing the claim that CoD is an inexcusable piece of shit series that deserves to die almost entirely due to the fact that it doesn't innovate much. While you might feel that it doesn't change, there's millions of fans who do. Dismissing the changes as extremely minor and unimportant is tantamount to a CoD fan calling Pokemon or AC shit because "the only thing that changes is the addition of a few new creatures or a new city to walk around in". It's oversimplification and a poor excuse to wish death to a series just because you don't like it and think it's more or less the same each year. Quote Except for the addition of double jump the core-gameplay is not significantly altered.Literally not a single person thinks that core gameplay needs to be significantly altered for a game to be innovative and not a simple rehash of a previous installment. It's a fact that CoD implements several changes with every new installment. Trying to deny that because none of them are significant changes to core gameplay is like saying AC is shit because it's still 3rd person adventure and doesn't feature a first person mode, or that Halo is a repetitive series because it hasn't had a turn-based installment yet. Quote Never said that.Never claimed that you did. Simply trying to get the point across that most of the people shitting on the series for not changing enough are often so biased that they don't realize that this goes for most popular franchises. 7609
Gaming / Re: Call of Duty Must Die!« on: June 03, 2015, 01:46:54 PM »Call of duty uses the same mechanics and does the same thing every year with each new installment. That is just not true though. If you're going to give credit to AC for changing its setting, then you have to at least acknowledge what CoD has covered so far. Pretty much all of WW2, Vietnam, current modern warfare, the future, apocalyptic scenarios and alternate timelines, taking place all over the world, in space and even in different realms. Not all of them even original, but if you're going to give AC props for covering different settings, you have to admit that so has CoD. Same goes for "not doing different things". CoD has introduced things like vehicles, exosuits, new ways of movement, zombies, challenge runs, wager matches, combat training, different ways of customizing your character, the social connectivity network, sorts of kill streaks and so forth in almost all of its new installments. And that is not even counting smaller things like new maps, gametypes, weapons / perks / killstreaks / attachments / classes / unlocks, cosmetics and so on. Trying to claim that AC is innovative and does such different things in different settings while CoD is the exact same thing every year really just screams bias. Quote There's a big difference in experience between AC3 and AC4. Can't say that about MW2 and MW3 at all. When you deliberately compare the two most different AC games with the single two most similar CoD games, then yeah. But that is clear cherrypicking. Quote And it's not like I think every Ac is 'amazing'. I think we both acknowledge that AC1 and Revelations are average, that AC3 is bad and that Unity is an absolute travesty. Not sure why you're quoting me as if I addressed my point to you, to be honest. It was directed at Lemon, who doesn't think all games are great but does seem to be a massive fan of the series. 7610
Gaming / Re: Call of Duty Must Die!« on: June 03, 2015, 11:29:30 AM »Putting out the same shit each year is objectively bad.>"COD is objectively bad because it lacks innovation and puts out the same game" >thinking Assassin's Creed is amazing Lemon please. AC is generally regarded as one of the most repetitive gaming franchises there is, bringing out hardly innovative games on at least a yearly basis. Not saying that CoD is any better, but I would put AC up on the same level of bringing out virtually the same game in a new environment with some slight gameplay tweaks. 7611

The Flood / Re: Why are women's breasts considered NSFW?« on: June 03, 2015, 10:08:57 AM »
Boobs are inheritently sexual and private, that's why. We are and have always been a SFW site, meaning that we won't simply allow things that would get people in trouble for viewing them in public or at work. And it just so happens to be that boobs are considered NSFW and not something that society deems acceptable to view in public because of their sexual tone.
We don't make these standards. We just enforce them on our site to keep things SFW. It's not as if we, the mods of sep7agon.net, deliberately made the choice to have society view boobs as NSFW. 7613

I too think it's unnecessary and stupid, but that doesn't mean I think it should "fucking die", as the video says. Quote as for the franchise as a whole, i think enough new additions (hundreds of new monsters introduced with each new generation, for example) are present in each new installment to justify having so many sequels--CoD, in my eyes, fails in this regardI see your point, but I think it's too subjective to base a proper agument on. With every new release, CoD introduces new maps, new gametypes, new weapons / perks / killstreaks / attachments / classes / unlocks, new cosmetics / customizations, new features, new campaigns, new modes, improved visuals, different mechanics... This might not be enough to warrant a new installment in your eyes, but the exact same argument could be made by a CoD fan against pokemon for simply adding a bunch of new creatures, changing up the storyline slightly and then calling it a whole new pokemon experience. 7618

If people think the game is worth their money and that they will get plenty of enjoyment out of it, who are we to demand that they stop playing it and that the franchise is discontinued just because you don't like it and feel like it's lacking in innovation? I mean, this argument could be made against a million things, all of them equally pointless. I don't like pop, rap or heavy metal music. I don't like several different sports. Yet I don't think it should all die because it hardly affects me at all while still giving millions of people enjoyment. It's true that the CoD games aren't the most innovative ones out therebingo, bingo, bingo 7620
