Gaming / Pokemon and stuff
« on: September 01, 2015, 02:42:28 PM »
Just a follow up on my last thread, I suppose.

So far, my girlfriend and I are at about 35% of completing the living dex. I much prefer looking for and actually catching pokemon while she likes to breed and level them up, so I'd say we make a pretty good team in that aspect. We've stuck to X and Y for now but traded a few things through the GTS and Wondershare. Pretty neat stuff.

Anyways, point of this thread is my current team. I just beat the 8th gym leader and am about to take on the pokemon league. So far, my main team consists of:

Spoiler
Aggron
-   Double Edge
-   Earthquake
-   Stone Edge
-   Iron Tail

Dragonite
-   Thunder punch
-   Dragon Rush
-   Outrage
-   Earthquake

Trevenant
-   Phantom force
-   X scissor
-   Horn leech
-   Psychic

Greninja
-   Surf
-   Dark pulse
-   Ice beam
-   ?

Blaziken
-   Flamethrower
-   Blaze kick / ?
-   Sky uppercut
-   Aerial Ace

Medicham
-   Hi jump kick
-   Psychic
-   Ice punch
-   ?

Any advice or suggestions? I know that the pokemon league isn't exactly that challenging, but whatever. Just feel like talking about this stuff and hearing from people who know a lot about these games.

And for additional discussion value: what's your go-to team?

Nothing at all, must be some kind of glitch in the system. Just carry on and don't think about it too much.

Here I was thinking this would be a respectable thread about sports or games casters / shoutcasters / commentators. I'll never get used to this bitter taste of disgust and disappointment.

When did it happen?
What context did it happen in?
Was it reported?

If you want something to be looked into, you gotta give us a little more information than that.

6726
Better go stockpile guns. Thanks Das.

itt Flee doesn't know what's he's talking about
I am still eagerly waiting for someone to prove me wrong and show me how to get an exact location of an IP address without having access to ISP databases.

I'm assuming Sean just got lucky or agreed to this with Class. It's virtually impossible to find the exact location of an IP address withou outsider or ISP information.
I am just using the webtools. If I wanted to I could go deeper. Just googlemaps and find my ip
All that does is give you one of the ISP's access points, though. At best, it'll give you a correct city and even that is a complete gamble.
i just found someone home address nice house in cape coral florida
I can't help but have my doubts about that.

there's a big PM ring going round where I've given to about 30 people, and posted it on multiple websites like /b/.
Just waiting for the fun to start now.
why? it's useless info
so people can ddos his computer, and hopefully brick it.
you have no idea what you're talking about dude

If he actually told /b/, I'm dead.

/b/ doesn't give a shit about your IP address, and neither does anyone else.

Believe it or not, /b/tards don't just sit around waiting for a random person's IP to be posted so they can attack it.
Yeah, never really understood why people think this. Raids rarely happen without a reason. "Hey guys look at this IP and attack it pls" will just result in people telling you to fuck yourself for demanding a personal army.

6731
It's their own choice to expose that information.

Also, while we're obviously not going to stop anyone from posting their own IP, you should be aware that it can give away your approximate location and can be used for some less than fun activities such as DDOS attacks.

Calling out people will only result in a warning or ban if it's done in a malicious manner. Most of the times when the mods get called out, this isn't the case. If it would be, those doing so would get slapped just the same.

B) I can sticky a new thread in Septagon where each one of you makes a single post regarding what you'd like to see changed.
Let's just go ahead and do this. This thread is a little too much of a clusterfuck already.

Edited everything up to LC's last post. If there's more, you'll have to take it up with him. I'm not involved in this thread and don't know what has been discussed so far.

Reminder that the Bill of Rights (those unalienable things people keep talking about) speaks of arms in general, not specifically firearms. The framers were very certain in the vagueness of language they used so that specific rights couldn't be taken away via loopholes.
not to mention, their whole idea of a "firearm" was a fucking musket
I've typed up in depth replies to this before... we've had repeating firearms since the late 1600's if I'm remembering right.
Uhh the cartridge which is basically needed for that wasn't invented until about 1860
Okay, I found the post, but it was more on the reactionary nature of firearms laws than the technology itself, but you're free to look into the history yourself.
Quote
Repeating firearm technology was developed as early as 1680, and by the early 1800's we saw widespread use of the Girandoni air rifle (which if not for antique exemptions, the rifle would be illegal to own in states that have certain "high capacity" bans). There wasn't a federal ruling restricting firearms of any kind until 1934, well after the introduction of fully automatic arms as a reactionary measure to combat mafia related violence. The next biggest federal act happened in 1968 as a reactionary measure to prevent someone else from mail-ordering a crappy Italian bolt-action service rifle from an NRA magazine and shooting the president... again.

That's a lot of time and a lot of development without change to laws or the amendment itself, many of the founding fathers would have saw repeating rifles before they died in the first two decades of the 1800's.
Just a question out of curiosity, but how common were those guns back when the second amendment was drafted? I've never made the argument of "but muskets" myself as I don't think it has much merit, but I always see responses among the lines of "but guns x and y already existed and they were more effective than simple muskets". I don't doubt that those claims are correct, but I always wonder how commonly used those guns actually were. From what I've gathered, they seem a little too expensive and rare for the everyday common man to own.

Tl;dr am I wrong in thinking that the more modern, semi/full auto firearms were a rarity or exclusive tool circa 1790?

I don't really care.

Apathy is a horrible trait.

The delusion that there is any sort of "right to privacy" is as well.
It does, though. It's part of the UDHR, ECHR, European Charter and ICCPR, two of which are part of the American legal system. And while the US Supreme Court has yet to recognize a full right to privacy, your 4th amendment has been used increasingly often to protect people's privac ever since 1890. Compared to other developed countries, it's still underdeveloped in the US but it definitely does exist.

Multiple warnings tagged [serious] add up and ultimately end up in you being banned from the board. You are welcome to appeal with Cheat and he'll probably listen too.

It also has nothing to do with the political content of your posts. For what it's worth, I'm not even the one who banned / warned you this time and I didn't even find out about your ban until I read about it in the mod chat afterwards.

To be honest I don't know why Americans feel the need to even own guns. Like, you're not special, many other countries get along just fine without 'em.
Maybe because its an unalienable right?
It isn't, though. It's far from being recognized as a universal right (and rightfully so) and your amendment too can be amended.
You're not American. It's our unalienable right. I don't really find a problem with a non-american criticizing our laws but you can't go forcing your rhetoric upon us. Just because it's not your unalienable right doesn't mean it isn't ours.
A right to self defense? Sure. But a right to own a specific man-made tool?
And how do you suggest we defend ourselves?

I'm genuinely intrigued and not being sarcastic.
I never said that firearms shouldn't be considered a way to defend yourself. What I am saying is that having unrestricted access to a particular tool does not deserve to be considered a fundamental and unalienable basic human right. Just because it is a part of your constitution doesn't mean that it deserves to be there or will remain there forever, is all I'm saying.

Yes, I clearly am forcing my dirty foreign commie rhetoric on you good Americans by sitting behind my computer posting on a small internet forum.

And again, when all it takes is a constitutional amendment to get rid of a right that is not recognized in any other place in the developed world and is not generally considered a natural, fundamental or universal right, I find it hard to talk about an unalienable right. Part of its unalienable nature is necessarily found in its universality and stem directly from the fundamentals of being human. Freedom of speech and religion for example are arguably more unalienable as they are recognized and enforced in the entire (developed) world. I personally find it hard to see how a personal entitlement to a particular tool can be considered unalienable and fundamental when compared to natural rights such as those of speech and thought. A right to self defense? Sure. But a right to own a specific man-made tool? Considering that fundamental, natural or unalienable is an extreme stretch that is rightfully so not recognized in virtually the entire world.
