Can't blame a guy for falling asleep during a 72 hour long movie marathon. I too would fall asleep during that, even if they only showed brilliant movies.

The Flood / Re: What's your view on tipping?« on: November 11, 2015, 11:12:54 AM »
Pretty strange practice that always baffled me when I went to the US. Good thing my girlfriend was there with me, because y'all Americans are weird. Glad it's not a thing here. You tip when someone puts in the extra effort to not just to do their job, but to make your meal or stay extra enjoyable in any way they can. Them merely doing their job (especially when it's like a delivery boy or something) does not deserve a tip, which in my eyes still is a show of gratitude for them providing a better than standard experience.

Gaming / Re: Rate Halo 5« on: November 09, 2015, 06:34:27 PM »CoD does not need to be the first game to do something in order for other games to play like it, as it still sets a benchmark for modern FPS games. Having played pretty much all of the recent CoD games, all of the Halo 5 gameplay I've seen reminds me of just that. You can say that none of those of features are exclusive to CoD or introduced by it, but I can't help but notice how recent Halo games have been increasingly like what I always considered CoD gameplay and movement. I don't really see how anyone could deny that Halo 3 and CoD 4 back in the day were a lot more different than CoD AW and Halo 4/5. Again, not saying that this is necessarily a bad thing, but watching people vault, jetpack, groundpound, dodge, clamber and sprint all over the place in Halo really just begs the comparison with the recent CoD installments, imo. You're welcome to disagree but that convergence seems pretty obvious to me. I like Halo as much as the next guy and know how many fans take offense to it being compared to CoD, but I can't deny that Halo has become considerably more like it.Clambering, vaulting, groundpounding, even more sprinting, dodging and all that jazz makes it look like plays like CoD. Not saying I wouldn't enjoy it. Just saying it looks even more removed from the core gameplay I loved in Halo 1-3.Groundpound and dodging aren't features from CoD, or something that CoD did before Halo. 6191

Would still play and probably enjoy, but game looks very meh from more than one perspective. Not a fan of where Halo seems to be heading. 6192
Gaming / Re: Rate Halo 5« on: November 09, 2015, 05:55:43 PM »
Haven't played it.
Story looks pretty disappointing. Movement looks shitty and about as CoD-like as Halo's ever been, do not want / 10. Do not want funky aiming animations and HUD mess. Microtransactions and random card stuff, ew. But still looks like fun. Would probably play it if I had an Xbox One. 6193

Used to be suburban, now moved into a city. I prefered my previous situation as it was calmer yet still close enough to the city that everything was easily accesible by bike, but this isn't bad either and it's even closer to things like the train station and whatnot.

Serious / Re: Cindo's Controversial Thread of the Week: Ethics in Gaming Journalism :^)« on: November 08, 2015, 12:28:30 PM »
I don't think there's much anyone can say against this, but there are a few things that I don't entirely agree with.
but when an entire movement forms out of a claim with no base that some woman might be whoring herself out for money, it's pretty evident that there's a problem.Coming from a legal background, one of the most fundamental guarantees to a fair trial is an impartial judge. Many countries divide this impartiality in both an objective and subjective sense. "Justice must not only be done, it must also be seen to be done." Of course, this isn't a court of law, but I feel that the same thing more or less applies to the ethical code of journalists. Sure, we don't know for sure the guy actually had his review influenced by his relationship, or that him knowing the girl actually made any difference whatsoever. But the fact that the likely possibility exists that his relationship somehow influenced the outcome of the review should be enough. I don't support the practice of harassment, but to ascribe this to nothing but a group of misogynist sexually frustrated neckbeards who got angry because a woman was actually making it in the gaming dev world? The personal attacks were unacceptable, but what happened deserved to be addressed and I wouldn't entirely blame that on sexism. Quote most protagonists are the "generic white dude" that shows up in pretty much every game everTo be fair, part of that can be blamed on it reflecting the main demographic of gamers and it also being a safe choice. I'm not going to dig up my old post again, but you can subject a white straight male character to every imaginable form of abuse and put him through every possible storyline without being attacked over it. Using a different character brings forth a lot of risks. Quote The fact that so many games including women as playable characters is looked at as a "bonus" feature or something that the developers couldn't really spend time into is evidence of said problem.Or maybe using a woman as a protagonist didn't fit the narrative they were going for. Especially for singleplayer games, demanding that developers include different genders and races really can put quite a strain on the development procedure. I agree with your post, but those things did stand out to me. 6204
