Hello, my esteemed American friends. As a poor European who is currently being denied access to the US-only Shiny Xerneas and Yveltal event, I was wondering if someone with multiple games / systems has a spare to share. Yveltal is one of my favorite shinies, so that would be pretty great.

When did everyone here become a casual? I love invading and being invaded.
Being summoned to fight is better than invading someone.
I think the randomness is part of the fun.

1.) the notion that circumcision has no benefits... But you don't even recognize the benefits... You don't recognize this. You don't think it's ever worth it. Oh but I do recognize it can have benefits. They're just usually so small that many consider them negligible. For example, some of the benefits include that it is faster to wash (probably saves you around 2 seconds every time you shower, so that adds up over the years), that it can get dirtier if you go a few weeks without washing yourself and that it can prevent later possible issues (an extra fold of skin can be cut, torn, injured or be affected by another condition). Those are 3 definite benefits, with the other ones (less UTI's, lower chance of contracting HIV, smaller chance of penile cancer) being so heavily contested and disputed by other research that it's hard to consider them absolute facts. So that leaves us with only 3 certain benefits of circumcision. The first one (faster to wash) is negligible because it takes seconds and can just as easily be used to advocate the removal of all teeth as you wouldn't have to brush them anymore. The second one (gets dirtier faster) can be addressed by simply showering more than once a week, which I believe most people in Western countries already do. The third and final one (prevents certain issues) is by far the best one, but can also be used to justify the removal of any body part. Sure, cutting off an ear might make it so that you lose a lot of hearing, but at least you don't have to worry about ear cancer on that side. The possible complications from being uncircumcised are generally small, very easily treated and rare to occur. I'm sure there's been some cases in which a person would've been better off being circumcised at birth because something bad happened that could've been prevented. But the same can be said about a lot of things, and ultimately it's all about the net worth. Having boobs exposes women to a real chance of breast cancer, yet we don't cut them off as a preventive measure. As for circumcision, the same thing is recognized by the national medical organizations of all developed countries that have taken a stance on it, including the US, who don't advocate it being a routine procedure. So yeah, I agree with you. It definitely has some certain benefits (and a number of contested ones that a bunch of other research disagrees with), but I just don't think they warrant the procedure and outweigh the possible downsides and complications. 2.) the notion that foreskin is "useful." Well, aside from the one you listed (protection from outside elements), the documented uses of the foreskin include: - aiding natural development of the glans through infanthood (the glans is not supposed to be exposed until the boy reaches a certain age. The foreskin actually protects it from infections that can occur by contact with faeces in a diaper, keeps it sufficiently moist, protects it from friction, keeps it clean as the penis doesn't produce anything dirty before puberty, maintains the right temperature and ensures proper development of the head of the penis) - provides antibacterial and immunological protection through childhood - contributes to sexual intercourse and sexual pleasure (it protects the glans and keeps it sensitive to fine touch, it stops the glans from hardening due to direct contact with clothing, it provides a rolling motion during sex which is pleasurable for both parties, it stops the ridge of the glans from becoming hard makes for a smoother experience during sex, it keeps the penis moist and aids in lubrication during sex) I mean, you can definitely say that none of these are so major that the lack of a foreskin will result in a severely damaged and dysfunctional penis, as clearly evidenced by the millions of circumcised men who had sex and children without issue. But while not a vital body part for the penis to function properly, I don't think you can really say that it has no uses anymore and that it's basically the equivalent of our tail bone. The links above each contain a large number of external studies and research, so I'd say there's definitely sound evidence to support that it has some uses (primarily protective, developmental and sexual). I've been circumcised, and I'm telling you that it fucking rules, but you choose ignore it, because it compromises your agenda. Verb, trust me, I'm glad you are so happy with it. My point is that millions of men are just as happy without it and that there's thousands of reports out there of men who had to have it done or chose to let it happen at a later age and very much regret it. I fully recognize that people can be very happy with their junk after it's been circumcised, but that honestly is not much of an argument either way. I'm not saying that someone who was circumcised at birth should be unhappy. My point is simply that just because someone doesn't regret never having had something, it doesn't mean that we should keep everyone from being able to have it and just circumcise away because some people who had it happen think it's great without ever having known the alternative. I'm also not sure what you think my agenda is. I'm happy to be uncircumcised and have had zero complaints or downsides from it. If I wasn't, I could go out and have it done tomorrow and live the rest of my life without a foreskin. If I ever have children, I will not circumcise them unless more compelling medical arguments are found. I'm not out for world domination or something. I just happen to know quite a bit about this due to my studies of health law and can't help but speak up when I see people who have the wrong ideas about the subject, just like how I'm sure you feel when people talk about how having children or eating meat is the right thing to do. Yeah, I did. so like...
i don't know what your problem is
No problem here. I'm just looking for something to take my mind off certain things. And because I think you're a genuinely smart person, I can't help but try to better understand your view on certain things when I feel some of the stuff you say is rooted in a number of misunderstandings. Either way, the fact that you agree with that final part really is enough for me. I just felt like writing something so I did.

You're never going to change my mind on this. I'm just curious, but why? Over the years, I've come to know you as a very factual, no nonsense and rational person whose main outlook on life stems from the desire to avoid suffering by yourself and others as much as possible. Yet when this particular subject comes up, you are basically saying "fuck the thousands of pages of medical research on the functions of the foreskin and the effects of circumcision, fuck every single official medical organization in the developed world saying it should not be a routine practice and fuck the almost unanymous global consensus among experts that the benefits of circumcision do not come close to outweighing the cons; none of it will ever change my mind". I could understand such a reaction from some uneducated person living god knows where, but from you? I don't get it. No one's trying to say you should feel unhappy or inadequate with being circumcised. No one's trying to get you to become a vocal supporter of the so-called 'intactivist' movement and convince others of the horribleness of circumcision, or even consider this a major issue that deserves attention. I'm glad you're happy with your situation, but I hope you are capable of realizing that you likely would've been just as pleased with it had you not been circumcised. The entire and sole point that this is trying to make is what Turkey basically said earlier. "I'm happy with my situation, but I recognize it's pretty fucked up that we do this to babies." No matter how you turn it, it is an invasive and painful surgery offering litle to no benefits with a large number of possible downsides that is both unnecessary and irreversible and is done without the consent of the person involved. That's it. And from what I remember, you more or less agreed to that in the other thread at some point.

it's also healthier, because foreskin is more prone to infection, discomfort, and tearing (roman's thread)
I already addressed how little you actually know about this in the other thread, but the tearing in Roman's thread has nothing to do with him being circumcised or not. That part is not typically removed during a circumcision and there's reason to assume it actually happens more amongst circumcised males as they do not have it protected by a fold of skin most of the time.
Did he not say that his foreskin ripped off during that little ordeal?
Personally, I don't have foreskin to rip off, and that kinda kicks ass.
Ehm, I really would suggest that you read up a little about what a foreskin is, how it works and what its functions are. I've seen you say you think it produces copious amounts of dirt and pus and now are under the impression that it could get ripped off by getting stuck on the clip of a bra. This is solid and sturdy skin. For it to be ripped off, I'd reckon you probably need about the same amount of force that it would take to rip off someone's ear. You might be able to cut or somehow even tear it, but ripping it off seems pretty impossible without the use of power tools. Roman didn't know what he was talking about, but managed to figure it out eventually.

Jesus that's (Savage).
It's just the truth. If you compare both acts (rape of a drunk girl and the cutting of genitals) side by side on their own, they're both objectively bad. If you take into account potentially future events and consequences, they could both result in something good and bad. As such, Verb's rebutall falls short as he chooses to only consider that one of the two may eventually lead to good things.

I felt pain? Hmm, I can't seem to remember that.
Come on now. You're smarter than to consider "can't remember so whatever" a decent argument.
i'm not arguing, it's just a gibe
the "raping a drunk girl" counterexample simply doesn't work, though, because it doesn't matter if you remember that experience or not--it's still bad
meanwhile, circumcision has the possibility of being the greatest thing ever like it was for me
The act of circumcision on its own is objectively bad though. It's the painful removal of a useful body part with little to no benefits. The net sum is a loss, causing pain, discomfort and a number of possible downsides later with almost no benefits. And even if it did, there's still the issue that strapping an infant to a board and inflicting extreme pain on it for an elective and unnecessary surgery is objectively pretty bad for causing quite a bit of suffering for not much of a reason at all. Your argument also falls short in its second part. Who is to say that being raped wouldn't ultimately benefit the girl? I know that sounds absolutely horrible and I would never bring it up outside of extreme hypotheticals, but there are certain scenarios I can think of where it would. It might be the event that helps her turn her life around by going to see a councellor for issues she's had all her life, by giving up drinking all the time and going back to college. 15 years down the line she might have a degree, a good marriage, a family, home and a good career going for her, while she otherwise may have continued going down a path of drinking and partying that would've ultimately led to her getting hooked on drugs that ruin her life and make her homeless living from shot to shot until she eventually overdoses with no family or friends at all.

7/10
8/10 for Dark Souls, but a bit hard to see. Mine is just the ODST Firefight one I got back on B.net. The yellow bar filled up based on how many maps you beat or something, and when I more or less stopped playing the game I found out it was pretty much perfectly horizontal and even in my case. I liked the symmetry, so I just used it for a profile picture.

Never knew America is obsessed with cutting dicks. How'd that happen?
Info-bomb
Well, fucking hell. Thank you for the info.
Not so fun fact, the guy who greatly contributed to it catching on so much in the US also advocated the admission of acid on the genitals of girls to suppress "abnormal excitement". He also supported using needles, cages and electroshocks to boys' genitals to curb masturbation. Part of the reason he "invented" his famous cereal is because he believed a good diet would also take away lustful desires. The practice of circumcision has a pretty fucked up history in the US, going as far as the military nearly mandating it for joining adults who then went on to do it to their children because they were taught that it was necessary to happen at one point throughout life and that it was best to do on infants who at the time were believed not to feel much pain anyways.

Reading these comments, I'm really surprised this is what the situation in the US is like.
The American dream is for foreigners only. Us nationals know what it's really like living here.
I'd say that applies only to foreigners from third world countries. People from other developed countries have no delusions about what living in the US would actually be like and how dead the "American dream" is. I was just surprised to see how hard it is to even get an entry level job there. I figured it would be about equal, but from the sound of it things are pretty fucked up. Tertiary education is relatively cheap so that many high school graduates will get some sort of a degree, and aside from that there's plenty of jobs available in labor or retail.
From my experience here, retail is all the same middle aged people that have been working wherever since I moved here last year. Heck I live 15 minutes away from a big outlets/mall thing in one direction who rarely have anything open, to a mall 10 minutes the other way that still have no open positions.
How often do people here (and I mean this generally speaking for everyone in this thread) use LinkedIn?

Never knew America is obsessed with cutting dicks. How'd that happen?
How it happened? First, ridiculous pseudoscience. Doctors actually believed that foreskins could cause or contribute to epilepsy, chorea, insanity, hernia and insomnia, which was then quickly spread and accepted despite being absolute bogus. Second, religious concerns. Even back then, people already realized that the foreskin plays a part in sexual intercourse and is highly sensitive erogenous tissue. People like Kellogg (yep, the guy from the cereal) advocated circumcision because they believed that by making it less pleasurable to engage in sexual activity and masturbate, it would stop children and adolescents from doing it. Combine that with it becoming the military standard in a few decades of war and it originally being covered by most health insurances, and it's no surprise it caught on so much. How it's being maintained? First, confirmation bias and cultural tradition. "It happened to my grandfather, my dad and me and sex is still nice, so why not do it to my child?" Second, major financial interests. The American Association of Pediatrics, being the only official medical organization in the developed world that still claims the benefits of the procedure outweigh the benefits, also happens to make considerable amounts of money from cosmetical and pharmaceutical businesses who have a vested interest in promoting the practice (cut foreskins are often used in skin creams, for example). In addition, the doctors performing the surgery make a lot of money from it as well. As fewer health insurances still cover it, the several hundreds of dollars it costs to have the brief procedure done is almost pure profit for the doctors and hospitals. There's quotes out there relating to doctors making 6 figures a year performing nothing but circumcisions claiming they see a newborn boy as a foreskin with a $300 cheque attached to it. It's in their best interest not to mention the majority opinion on the cons outweighing the pros but instead convince the parents to let them do it and get paid. As I said in the other thread, newborn circumcision rates in the US have dropped from around 80-90% back in the 70's and 80's to only about 55% now. It's likely that the number will continue to drop.

Circumcision is one of those weird things where I recognize that it's super fucked up that we cut off part of a baby's dick for almost entirely aesthetic reasons based on a 4000 year old culture, but I'm also glad that it was done as an infant and I don't feel violated in any way.
Yeah, it has a lot to do with what you're used to. Knowing what I know now (both experience and medicine wise), I'd definitely regret it if I had it done, but that's just me and probably has a lot to do with habit. While many do feel violated and wronged, the point of this debate definitely shouldn't be to talk people into a trauma. It's a good thing people are satisfied with their situation. No one should be made to feel about their junk, but better education and the choice not to do it with their own children because of the mostly negligible and heavily contested benefits compared to the possible risks and almost definite downsides should definitely be encouraged. That, and the whole issue of ethics and morality, of course. I also just remembered that no one ended up responding to your post in the other thread. "I'm curious to hear what people on both sides say about cosmetic operations on puppies or kittens, like docking tails and declawing." Personally, I don't know much about either of those practices and what the possible pros and cons are. But having googled it quickly, it seems to be a pretty clear cut case. Both practices appear to be almost universally outlawed in developed countries outside of the US and are considered mutilation by several animal health societies. It seems that neither practice offers benefits that support it being done consistently or for purely cosmetic reasons. Exceptional circumstances aside (health risks for certain kinds of breeds to keep their entire tail and such), I'd go out on a limb here and say that neither practice should be allowed for cosmetic reasons, as they can cause pain, discomfort and other complications. But again, I know too little about it to have a really sound opinion on it. If what I said above is correct though, it does seem to have many parallels to infant circumcision. Potentially harmful, a number of downsides to having it done and no real arguments or benefits to support it being done as a routine practice for purely cosmetic reasons. Outlawing it does not appear to be such a bad course of action. Really, the only decent argument against banning infant circumcision I've ever heard is that it would drive the practice underground and into clandestine conditions. Some see it as a religious or cultural thing and others are just plain stupid or uneducated, so that's a pretty sizable chunk (in the US at least) of people who would likely still try to have it done on their baby even after it's been made illegal. Regardless, public education campaigns and progressively strict legal measures would probably not be a bad idea for the US.

Over here? No bad ones other than people forgetting to turn their cell off and receiving a call or text. I now almost exclusively go to a small theater at the cultural center. No foods, drinks, kids or cellphones allowed and you get kicked out for breaking the rules. It's nice.
In the US? Granted, I've only seen movies in theaters 3 times there, but every time there were people clapping and cheering throughout it and the credits. It's not necessarily that bad (even though I did think it was pretty disruptive and annoying), but just very different to see people behave like that.

Not that you aren't trolling, but what happened to Roman happens as much amongst circumcised men as uncircumcised ones, as that part isn't usually removed during circumcision.

Why would you quit school over this
Because I need to heal. And this is the only thing that's going to be on my mind until it gets better.
You need to stop thinking with your dick and start thinking logically. You've allowed your dick to control you this entire time and look what happened.
You need to step back and reevaluate your priorities in life.
And if I need to get surgery? It is pretty serious what happened.
You'll cross that bridge when you get there. I also mean afterwards, when all of this shit is out of the way.
There will be no time to get a surgery and recover if I will have classes every weekday 10am-4pm from May 31st until August 19th. I'm sorry, but if I had to choose I want my penis to function normally again. I'll just find a new job as a waiter or something, or even go back to KMart.
Okay, Roman. Real talk real quick. Even if you have to have a frenuloplasty done, it's a minor procedure. Surgery is usually done with local anesthetic and only takes a few minutes. Most patients leave within 2 hours after having it done, with there being absolutely no need to stay longer. Pain afterwards is usually small, with only minor soreness lasting for a week or two. People who have it done usually go back to work within a day or two and there is little more to the recovery process than wearing gauze or padding in your underwear to avoid chaving or minor bleeding. Sex is possible within 3-4 weeks of it being done. Putting your future and education aside for something like this would probably be a really bad call.

You just made fun of me for saying I have a wormdick, implying that no female would want me because of that, therefore from your point of view I need to be circumcised in order to get laid.
Deci, he's trolling you. He says there's never any limits to "shall not be infringed", I tell him Feinstein is a babe, he tells me supporting gun rights should be mandatory, I tell him the second deserves to be repealed and so on and so forth. Circumcision won't be an option for me either. Now i have another problem, the skin is peeling from the head. I don't know if that's dead skin and a sign it's healing or not.
Circumcision wouldn't matter much anyways. The frenulum is not always removed during a circumcision and I'm not aware of it tearing any less among circumcised men than uncircumcised ones.
