People say the island is haunted of the little girl and man's spirit and that the dolls will sometimes move on their own and even speak.
Yeah but people are crazy or lying and the dolls don't actually move or speak. It's just an island with dolls on it.

Tfw you guys are describing me and I don't get the meme about the best tasting monster.

redditors and underageb& are currently trying to fit into 4chan by forcing this boomer meme whenever someone expresses that they like something that isn't a modern AAA title
Wow, Quake Champions is a modern AAA title Desty ya dip.

Does Flee drink Monster Ultra
I've only had one Monster drink in my life and don't think it was an ultra or zero one.

The only place where paranormal stuff happens is in Mexico.

Island of the Dolls? Fuck that place.
Banjo's my favorite brujo.

And what's even supposed to be special about the Island of the dolls?

Yeah, it's one of my main interests actually. I've been reading ghost stories and looking and photos/videos since I was a kid. I like to keep an open mind, but I'd love to experience something myself because until then I have to take people's word for it. I'd love to visit places like Waverly Hills and Eastern State Penitentiary.
Just a heads-up but many people who do "experience" things do so because they really want to. It's like being susceptible to hypnosis which only works if you're into it and generally lack much mental resilience. Your brain plays tricks on you and if you anticipate or really expect / hope for something to happen, it's going to affect you. You get goosebumps, the hair on your arms stands up, you think you hear stuff (like new parents who think they hear a baby cry in almost everything) or see strange things (like being on edge or seeing a shape out of the corner of your eye after watching a horror movie)... The stories are fun and the science behind the "experiences" and "sensed presences" is pretty interesting but ultimately nothing about it is real.

The truth revealed at last.

I don't necessarily disagree with companies cutting ties with employees, partners or people who otherwise represent them for abhorrent comments or behavior that is associated with them, but context is of course always important. Gunn's comments date back a full decade. They didn't target any specific people, caused no harm whatsoever and weren't racist, sexist, hateful or personal attacks. To my knowledge, he has since apologized for them on numerous occasions. They were dumb and insanely edgy (as apparently was his whole persona as a provocateur back then) but absolutely not worth it for him to be fired over.

what's "clever" about it? the fact that it's woven into the lore? why is that clever

"top tier" is a nonsense description, given that backstabs are such a big part of it—pretty immersion-breaking, considering it would never happen in an actual fair swordfight, even with magic involved

also lag
Why is it not clever? It ties into the lore better than almost any game I've ever played. Most games have either no real explanation for it at all (you just match up with someone else and play the game) or have one that's extremely shallow (all characters are actually toys in a box or it's all just a simulation). Dark Souls multiplayer has a very detailed backstory that perfectly and seamlessly ties into the game's setting and lore without it being in a different menu or under specific conditions. Every covenant has its use, special perks and fits together nicely to create a certain type of balance in the world and many different experiences. The fact that you have the entire world to play with allows for enormous amounts of creativity and versatility that I really haven't seen in many other games. It's also surprisingly well balanced if you look at how everything fits together. For example, invaders have obvious benefits (element of surprise, invisible to AI enemies, usually get to choose the plan of attack) but they're in many ways countered as the host has several of his own (he can summon support, blue phantoms will come to his aid, he can heal while invaders cannot, if he makes it to the fog gate he instantly "wins" over the invader, his reward for killing the invader is greater than vice versa). I understand why you consider it unethical but it's still a very clever and well thought out system that's pretty damn unique.

And it's top tier because of that, the endless variety and the mechanical depth of the game. It's something you don't really notice during casual play but I would kind of compare it do Smash Bros (Melee). At first sight it's a pretty accessible game but there's a lot of hidden and often unintended techniques that can make it competitive and give it a lot more depth than you might have expected. Just like SSB has things like dash/L/move canceling, air dodges, wavedashing and ledge grabbing, Dark Souls has techniques like toggling, reverse rolls, free aiming, attack/spell cancels, dead angles, counter-damage, backstep poise and hotswapping that add a lot to it and make it much more competitive and interesting when you get to that level.

Some of my fondest memories playing video games are from Dark Souls PvP.
Still one of the most clever and fun multiplayers of any game I've ever played. Top tier PvP without a doubt.

Oh wait, one more thing—Darkmoon Blades for life; the guilty pay the price.
I feel like you should at least give that portion of the game a try before talking about stuff like that. You are in the covenant in name alone and have have never done anything for it, nor have you unlocked any of the rewards, advanced its interests or made any contributions to its side in the larger balance between covenants.

And that's all fine. You don't have to do anything you're not interested in. But when it comes to your big final review, I hope you realize that you're deliberately avoiding a huge part of the game that was one of the main reasons it received the attetion and critical acclaim it did. It's what got tons of people to come back to the game for years and put hundreds of hours into it despite having beaten it a dozen times and knowing every little thing about it. It's kind of like reviewing Super Smash Bros or Street Fighter without ever doing multiplayer but just sticking to the basic campaign, practice modes and challenge courses.

It's up to you, of course, but I can only tell you that my fondest memories of the game weren't just defeating bosses and clearing the game. They were epic duels lasting 10+ minutes against great players pulling out everything they got and being as creative as possible to win - not AI enemies giving you endless easy opportunities and repeating the same predictable moves. They were the times I put down my summon sign and ended up in the world of a struggling new player to fight through Sens, Londo or Tomb alongside him while fending off invaders before beating a beefed up boss and receiving PMs of gratitude afterwards. They were the unlikely victories where I invaded a team of 3 players and beat them all by cleverly baiting, using the environment against them and just outplaying them despite the odds being massively stacked against me. It's the times I got invaded myself with souls on the line and had to defeat the new threat or evade him and get through the area to just barely reach the boss before he could catch up to me. There's not a single area in the game I don't have some great memories of, ranging from tricking invaders into getting caught in the swinging blades and falling to their deaths in Sens to hitting a massive 1 hit KO plunge attack kill from the top of the Anor Londo church on two unsuspecting targets below, and from beating O&S as the last summon standing while the others had already died and the host was hiding in a corner at 1hp without any estus to heal himself to hitting 5 consecutive parries on 3 people I invaded and killed just before the fog gate to Gwyn.

Dark Souls is abolutely a great game even if you play it offline from start to finish and don't bother with any of the covenant stuff at all. But it's the multiplayer that elevated it from just greatness to one of my favorite games of all time. The epic moments, the hilarious treachery, the amazing clutches and community creativity, the unexpected kindness from invaders that see new people struggling and drop them some resources before backing out.... Those are the things that really made it a unique and amazing game. I understand why you dislike the mechanic and really have no interest in getting into that discussion again but damn, I can't help but feel that anyone who deliberately opts out of that portion of the game is really just doing themselves a disservice and is missing out.

Still, congrats on beating the game. You did very well.

No, of course not. There's a logical explanation for the things that happened to you too.

Explain the heavy footprints I heard on my stairs that when chased after ran to the basement stairs.
You have a hobo living in your basement who got out just on time. Next time, don't chase him but just leave him out some snacks.

Check if you can feel the temperature by hand.
Try different monitoring software (HWMonitor).
Check the temperature in BIOS/UEFI.
Check location of heat sensor (if there's none, it's just an invalid reading. if there is, it might be close to a component with an issue).
Check fan speeds.
Reapply thermal paste on CPU cooler.
Assume it's an incorrect reading.

There's apparently a proper gay nandos in London. Does that make it more or less cheeky?

Would watch, that looks pretty fun.

Daily reminder that 1998 American Godzilla design is still the best looking one ever though, despite of how much of a non-canonical pushover it was. Fat godzilla looks meh at best.
the virgin iguana

vs

THE CHAD THICC BOI

Spoiler
In all seriousness if you think that design is better than Japanese/monsterverse gojira you are an unadulterated brainlet.
Japanese godzilla looks dumb, the new Western one is good.

you're a pretty good photographer

Thanks! I'd love to get better but I don't really like fiddling around with the different settings on the camera or fancy angles or anything.
What camera and lenses do you use?

A Sony DSC H300. No clue what lense though, the basic one I guess?
Ah, it's a compact camera. I thought you'd be using a DSLR or something similar. I don't think yours has interchangeable lenses to begin with. You should check the settings out though, I think it's quite capable for the price. You can get a lot more out of your photos that way.

so if i'm gonna have to be the person to help bring back the correct way of pronouncing certain words and names, that's a hill i'm willing to die on
Luvvely. This dedi-cah-tion to original words and nahm-s is why you're my best freend, Yahkob. I traust we will now both start calling you Ver-bah-tim. Don't forget to take a pic-toohr of this so you can ray-member it in the futoohr.

LINGUISTS RISE UP. LITERALLY SPEAK 4 TIMES AS MANY LANGUAGES AS VERB AND STUDIED 6 YEARS OF LATIN BUT DON'T KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT THIS STUFF AT ALL.

the correct pronunciation doesn't always win, though, as is unfortunately the case with Priscilla
Great. Thanks for admitting that your opinion is the one that - for good reason because priskilla just sounds bad - lost hundreds of years ago and isn't used, accepted or considered correct in any way, shape or form by virtually all English speakers or the standards of the language. Nothing more needs to be said. This is like me saying that we should pronounce your name as yah-cob instead of jay-cob and that every single other English speaker other than me is wrong just because it's closer to the original word in Hebrew and because it sounds better and more natural in my own opinion. We both know you're just being contrarian and grasping at straws because you feel defensive over being wrong. You're not one to admit it and correct yourself though, so I'm going to leave it at this.

And no, there's absolutely nothing fallacious in showing you how people who speak the language properly actually pronounce a particular word correctly. There's standards in every language and violating or deviating from them isn't suddenly correct just because you feel it rolls of the tongue easier.

474
You're very defensive when it comes to being wrong about language stuff. I know you care about it a lot but there's nothing wrong with making a mistake here and there Verb. Learn and move on, no need for all this defensive stuff.
only i'm not wrong in literally any way, and it didn't take much effort to prove it

you learned latin (apparently) so you should already know i'm right without even having to say anything
Now you're just being dumb for the sake of it. Just because a word has roots in a different language doesn't mean it's pronounced the same way in English. Remember the whole conversation about your name? How adamant you were about it being ver-bay-tim, not ver-buh-tim? The English word verbatim also came from Latin (verbum, "word" and -atim, meaning word by word). And since you're so big on language, I assume you know that "a" being pronounced as "ay" is a very English thing that does not exist in languages like Dutch, German, French and Latin. So if you're actually interested in any sort of logical consistency here, you'd pronounce your name ver-buh-tim too.

But you're not interested in that. You're just defensive because you were wrong on something you're sensitive about. A quick google search of "priscilla english pronunciation" gives you literally hundreds of results (interesting link indexing great speakers using it in normal sentences rather than randoms recording themselves) pronouncing it the longstanding and correct way: "prisilla". Come on now.

475
You're very defensive when it comes to being wrong about language stuff. I know you care about it a lot but there's nothing wrong with making a mistake here and there Verb. Learn and move on, no need for all this defensive stuff.

476
>priskilla
how the fuck else would you presume to say it based on its spelling
Well, you don't say suskeptible, conskious, condeskending, diskipline and so on either. There's probably a rule on when it's a soft or hard c (like in discrimination) but it's pretty unintuitive to pronounce it as priskilla.

people have trouble with the stray demon? are you fucking kidding

well, i guess you could chalk it up to me choosing to fight him last, but still
It's partially because of that, yeah. Most people fight him earlier into the game than that so you're probably above the level and gear that you're "expected" to face him with. The other reason is just your great shield. The main reason people struggle with Stray is because of his AoE fire explosion attack. The idea is that you can avoid this by getting behind him since his body blocks the blast for you. Trying to block with a normal shield or roll through it will hurt you badly. You would have died in those first 10 seconds of the video if it wasn't for the great shield taking the hit.

But yeah, he's a pretty easy boss either way. You can just bait out an attack, run away and then have at him over and over. It's just that he can easily put you in a really bad situation as a light/nimble character. A single leap of his can lock you in a corner or up against a wall. If he follows up with the explosion and you don't have something beefy to block with, you're in trouble.
