I quite like my 2DS. I only use it for Pokemon and have no clue how well it would work with other games, but still.

Don't really care for the E-sports (sue me)
Gladly. I think I can spin this on slander or high treason. Prepare to lose millions if not billions of dollars.

And yeah, it's likely will see more of those games. Certain Quake pros have been involved in the testing of the unreleased Champions alpha, so people are hoping for more information at the event.
I am always excited for Quakecon but never for the main event. Just want to see games and John Carmack.
I respect your opinion and taste, even though they're both wrong.

Road to Quakecon Day 2 starting in just under 2 hours!

And for no particular reason, I'd like to thank Verb whose thread template I totally didn't copy word for word.

GUYS PROTIP, DOWNLOAD INGRESS AND LOOK FOR THE BLUE DOTS. THATS WHERE POKEMON ARE MUCH MORE LIKELY TO SPAWN.
This confirmed? Aren't they just Pokespots?
no the pokestops and gyms are the portals in ingress. The blue dot things are something else, but apparently the algorithm that spawns them is the same as the one that determines where you encounter pokemon
Thanks, I'll try it out.

QuakeCon is a yearly convention held by ZeniMax Media to celebrate and promote the major franchises of id Software and other studios owned by ZeniMax. It includes a large, paid, bring-your-own-computer (BYOC) computer gaming event with a competitive tournament held every year in Dallas, Texas, USA. The event, which is named after id Software's game Quake, sees thousands of gamers from all over the world attend every year to celebrate the company's gaming dynasty.

The last QUAKE LIVE Duel Masters Championship was in 2014, and since then we’ve upped the ante a little bit. The QUAKE LIVE Duel Masters Championship will once again feature known professionals and top QUAKE LIVE competitors in an exclusive tournament. Up to thirty-two (32) of the world’s best QUAKE LIVE players, hand selected by veteran tournament staff from the open online registration, will face-off in the 1 vs. 1 duel for $25,000 in a double elimination bracket, with each match played in a best-of-five-games format. In the end two competitors will remain and thousands will gather to watch as these two best-of-the-best survivors go head-to-head in a single elimination, best-of-five-games throw-down with a $12,000 check written to the champion.

As you all know, Quakecon is Bethesda's yearly event. It's filled with keynotes, speeches and presentations by industry experts and game developers. In addition to it being one of the main events where Bethesda makes it big reveals (Wolfenstein, The New Order, Doom...), it includes a big LAN-party and smaller community events. The main attraction, however, is the yearly Quake tournament. This year, Quakecon hosts both a Quakeworld and Quake Live tournament.

Quake Live, of course, is the primary event. This year we will be seeing a 1v1 Duel tournament drawing in most of the world's best players. Cypher, Evil, K1llsen, Chance, DaHang, Zorakwar, Ash, Zero4, Rapha, Spartie and Fraze will all be attending and dueling it out for $25,000. As you all know, Quake is an exceptional esport and one of the best FPS games ever made. Definitely tune in and watch if you're interested in competitive gaming and esports.

I'll update this thread when Quakecon draws near.

The pre-Quakecon All-American tournament Road to Quakecon started yesterday. The semis through the grand finals are taking place today. All of the best American players are participating, so gameplay is pretty solid.

Stream starts in 2 hours!

Very safe. Violent crime in extremely low, murder non-existent and the only notable crimes are petty theft and vandalism due to the amount of students here.

How many characters are actually used in Tekken 7? I know there's a few dozen in the game, but some are objectively better than others.

Do yours have a chip or stripe? I've always found it strange how banking security is such a low priority in the US, so I'm glad to hear chip cards are becoming increasingly common there. It's a bit more of a hassle, but that security is just too good. Gotta admit that the swiping is pretty cool though.

Interesting explanation for those unfamiliar with what I'm talking about:

Serious / Re: A Military Coup is Occuring in Turkey
« on: July 16, 2016, 12:20:50 PM »
Gotta say that any support for the coup should be made carefully. Turkey has a history of military coups changing things for the better, but there's not much reason to assume this would be the same. The coup has been reported to be inspired by ideologies that would do nothing to improve the situation and Turkey, didn't involve the full military taking control of all important posts and took military action against dozens of civilians. I think Erdogan is as much of a piece of shit as anyone, but I'm being cautious about the potential benefits of the coup, had it succeeded.

severe measures against those part of the coup
Against the higher ups or everyone who was involved?
He didn't specify, but I imagine it's against all involved.

This Tekken 7 Top 8 might be a good watch. There's a Korean Street Fighter player in there right now playing Akuma (guest character), and he just made it to Winner's Finals in pretty hype fashion.
Watching a little now.

Such a shame. Erdogan is calling for severe measures against those part of the coup, and the prime minister is calling for the death penalty to be introduced again.

I have my doubts that is real.
Me too, to be fair. Apparently the original audio also had his girlfriend screaming as another bear turned on her, but I couldn't hear the girl screaming in that clip.
Not gonna watch all of it, but this guy has a 40 minute video up on why he thinks it's fake. There's apparently some questionable things going on with the audio itself (audio layers / direction) and inconsistencies with the transcript of the real one.

What games would you suggest, Verb? I usually watch Street Fighter, Melee and Tekken when I do watch fighting game competitions, but I'm open to suggestions.

I don't even know what that is but I already don't like it.

As an uninformed American, what're their stances on the recent British hullabaloo?
May was for Remain, but quietly so. Probably because she could position herself as a 'unity' candidate whichever side won.

Leadsom was for Brexit.

If May were to become the PM, is there a chance she ignores, or delays, the process of leaving?
I wasn't too far off with the first of my predictions, it seems. While it's far from an open anti-Brexit statement, May just said that there won't be any formal actions taken towards the withdrawal from the EU until there exists a common "UK approach and objectives for negotiations". In practice, this means she's looking for an agreement with Scotland and potentially Northern Ireland on how to deal with the issue of Union membership, as she realises how this could tear the country apart.

Rejoice, T-Mobile users.

They're offering a year's worth of free unlimited data for Go.
Pretty cool, but kind of overkill. Pokemon Go doesn't really doesn't use that much data. I've been using it quite a bit since the day it came out and have averaged around 10mb of data use per day. Not sure what the typical American data package is like, but I get 4GB a month.

Serious / Re: Brexit Minister David Davis's plan for leaving the EU
« on: July 15, 2016, 03:54:13 AM »
"similar deals would be negotiated with other key EU nations"
Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he could've simply meant the UK would engage EU governments individually to see where they stood before negotiating under the CCP. But I can't really say without seeing his specific wording.
You're more trusting than I am. I see how this could've all been a misunderstanding caused by incredibly poor wording, but I'm not particularly convinced. No matter how you look at it, the EU is a trade bloc where a trade agreement made with the Union applies to all member states equally. Talking about concluding a specific  "UK-Germany deal" where its cars will be protected in exchange for other concessions and suggesting "similar deals" with other countries regarding their particular exports sends the wrong signal no matter how you look at it.

Here's a picture of the tweets before he took them down without explanation after a lot of people started taking notice of it.

I'm not saying that's what I think of Davis, merely that it's a possibility.

And, to be fair, that's what I take away from the tweets having read them. It's correct that all EU countries must accept a UK-EU FTA right? Listing the interests of the individual countries doesn't particularly seem amiss, even if he cack-handedly referred to them as "deals". It looks to me like he's saying "Germany wants X, France wants Y, Poland wants Z" and this could be used as leverage in negotiations.

I mean, it's a real possibility that I'm being unconsciously biased in favour of Davis (and you somewhat against, for that matter). Ultimately we'll just have to see how he handles the negotiations.

EDIT: I'll admit deleting them after people pointed out his error is quite dodgy, however. Not best pleased with that.
Agreed. No matter what point he tried to make, his wording was ambiguous and poorly chosen either way. A simple "as part of a EU trade deal" could've clarified it all. And yeah, I realize we often see what we subconsciously want to see. I really do hope that I'm wrong, though. As unsympathetic I might be towards the Brexit case, I know that an incompetent minister in charge of the matter would be detrimental to all parties involved. I hope he turns out to be the right candidate and that this was a misunderstanding after all.
