It'd be nice if they'd improve the Play of the Game to be a little smarter than just "several kills in rapid succession". I haven't even played all that much and I'm already getting bored with how half of the PotG's are just McCree pressing Q twice or Genji swinging through a few people from the back. Smart / inventive / unique / clutch plays with the more atypical heroes should be valued more than others, in my opinion. Hantzo taking down 2 enemies from a long distance to secure the game during overtime or Mercy getting a clutch kill followed by reviving half the team should matter a lot more than McCree automatically wiping 3 enemies by the press of a single button.

Thanks guys, I've read through all of it. Some good advice there.

Gun control generally is a good thing. The US needs more of it, more research on it and to adopt a system comparable to Switzerland's.
Oh and repeal the second, of course.

I'm honestly not that good at the game (67th percentile or something like that)
Is that Ranked only?
yes
And on console
Ah, fair enough. I'm still a long while from being able to play Ranked.

Also, >tfw a level 99 starts the game by commenting "what's up with these **** lowlevels" because there were two level 10s on the team and then I get 4 golds and a silver medal
Soldier 76 is bae.

Also, how the fuck do you use McCree's ultimate? When I see others use it, they just tap the button and kill like 5 people instantly. The few times I tried it, I got like one hit off and it wasn't even a kill. Do you have to hold it down or what's the trick?

I have to say that Blizzard's way of matching you with people of equal skill and experience is very interesting. I just hit level 5 and am put in games with people at around level 100 all the time.
based on your quake experience you're probably doing really well (lots of wins and medals) so I'm not too Shocked. They don't use level in the matchmaking algorithm at all
I have to say that I'm already starting to feel the downsides of this. I'm very often the odd one out (just played a game where I'm level 8 in a lobby with everyone else being 60+) and it does show. I did very well in my first few games against other beginners, but now the game seems to have placed me in a much higher tier. It's fun on the one hand, but on the other it does suck. Overwatch is a game where experience and knowledge of all the heroes, strats, abilities and playstyles is immensely important, and I'm way behind my peers in all of that.
the more you play the more accurate it will be. This is a problem in a lot of games like this when you first start out.
Theoretically either you'll lose a couple games and the matchmaking will sort itself out or you'll learn quickly and just keep beating these people.
Do you know of any good guides to catch up? As in detailed analysis of hero abilities / tactics and whatnot.

I know, especially when you have such a nifty Quick-Reply feature.
Did you know that with Quick-Reply you can write a post when viewing a topic without loading a new page? You can still use bulletin board code and smileys as you would in a normal post.

I'm not even going to through all of this, but much of this is very misleading. I hope you just copied it from someplace else and didn't make it yourself, because this is just dishonest and illustrative of how far debate of these issues has strayed from the truth. - Illegal to criticize Religion in Australia http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/act-parliament-passes-religious-vilification-laws-20160804-gqlagu.html No, it's not illegal to criticize religion in Australia, nor does the article ever claim that. It's illegal to villify, harass and discriminate against people based on their religion. Many other countries already had laws like this in place, and now Autralia just added religion to their list of things like sexuality and race which can't be used as grounds to discriminate against others. - Illegal to call for ban on Immigration http://speisa.com/modules/articles/index.php/item.122/sweden-passes-law-to-criminalize-any-criticism-of-immigration.html A single story with zero sources, citations or references to the actual law. Any other article of this I've found (and they only show up on the likes of Stormfront.org) just link back to this one. Meanwhile, people who actually know Swedish law and look at the proposals and legislation say that no substantial changes are made at all and that there is nothing to indicate that criticising immigration is now illegal (texts of the actual laws included). - Make Satire videos https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2016/may/09/nazi-salute-dog-man-faces-hate-crime-charge-scotland Satire and parody have actually been made explicitly legal in the UK back in 2014. The man in your article was arrested, immediately released and no further action was taken that I'm aware of. I agree that it's bullshit this happened in the first place, but they were nazi-themed videos with him talking about gassing jews and in the end nothing came of it. Definitely not illegal to make satire videos. - Disagree with People. http://www.truthrevolt.org/news/americas-future-canadian-man-faces-jail-time-disagreeing-feminists Only, he didn't just disagree with them but actively sought out any information about the women to constantly criticise and trash them online. Long after their argument was over and contrary to what sources like Crowder and Inforwars would have you believe, "Elliott continued tweeting criticism to their accounts and commenting on their online and offline activities." It's also worth noting that someone used a fake account impersonating the man to make the obscene and homophobic statements, which is part of the reason this was taken to trial. And what happened in the end? Case rapidly dismissed and acquitted on all charges. > Criminal Law - Men are Guilty of Rape until proved Innocent - http://www.independent.ie/world-news/europe/men-must-now-prove-women-said-yes-in-tough-new-uk-rape-rules-30947951.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/law-and-order/11375667/Men-must-prove-a-woman-said-Yes-under-tough-new-rape-rules.html So technically if you have sex with a woman in the UK you are committing rape unless you can prove it. Nope. As FullFact actually looking at the new rules says: "The advice for police and prosecutors doesn't change the law. The state almost always has to prove lack of consent, and lack of a reasonable belief that there was." In other words, these are primarily guidelines for police officers to standardize reporting on sexual crimes, but they do not at all raise the bar of proof or reverse "innocent until proven guilty". I'm not even really going to look at the rest of them, but I'm highly doubtful they'll be filled with any less fearmongering and inaccuracies, which really doesn't surprise me when it comes from someone who thinks we're at some kind of war against feminists.

Alright, done playing for day 1. Got to level 7 I believe and had a really great time with the game. Definitely glad I purchased it. Still, there's a few things I'm really not too fond of.
- Too much waiting. Queuing, loading screen, put in Skirmish, loading screen, picking heroes, setting up... Especially for something like Quick Play, it really can be a bit irritating how long it can take to actually start playing.
- Games are often too short. It obviously depends a lot on how good the teams are, but I often find myself surprised by how short the match felt at the end. It'd be nice to see some longer games or modes like Domination which just last longer. Probably influenced by other FPS games I play, but the matches still feel short. Would like to see more 15 minute games or so.
- Map design. I like the maps quite a lot, but there's to much focus on choke points. Many of them give attackers only one way to go (from what I could tell), with one main door and then a small window to the side that only certain characters can get through.
- Match stats. I get why they're not there, but I still don't like it. Same goes for something like Challenges / Commendations other than the achievements to give players something to work towards.
- Movement stoppers. Personal pet peeve because of how important free movement is in the other FPS games I play, but I'm definitely not a fan of these. I get that they may be there for balance, but Eskimo lady and cowboy man stunning people to line up the easy headshot or groundhog man grappling whoever for an instant stun and immediate 200 damage just aren't very fun to me.
Other than that, I'm liking it a lot.
Oh and the obvious: this is based on like 2 hours of playtime. Opinion possible to change or be invalidated after playing more.

One thing I feel the game does miss is a detailed match analysis. Like, I would really like being able to press tab or so and get a nice overview of everyone's ping / connection strength, kills/deaths, damage dealt/received... And a match history would be nice too, seeing exactly what medals you and others earned, who killed who the most, what your score was at the end and so forth. Am I just being an idiot and missing all of that, or is it just not there?

Ah, that makes sense. And yeah, I do suppose that my time playing Quake has helped my aim and movement quite a bit. Overwatch is a lot slower and less challenging than Quake is, so I think I'm getting the hang of it too.

Fun game so far. One thing I find strange though is how I feel like my mouse sometimes goes all "floaty" on me. It's never happened to me in any other game, but every so often I get the feeling that my mouse acts strange for a few seconds as if I suddenly had acceleration turned on or something. Anyone else experienced the same thing?
who are your mains?
Well I'm only level 5 so I really don't have any mains yet. Just been trying a number of different heroes. But the ones I've used and liked the most so far have been Soldier 76, Pharah, Junkrat and Zenyatta. I have to add that I really have no idea what the meta currently is like. I've seen very little gameplay before buying the game and haven't watched any strategy / competitive videos, so I have absolutely no clue what heroes are considered good or bad.

Glad that fad died. Ex-bronies are probably ashamed of themselves.
Not at all. I still like the show although I haven't watched the last 2 seasons or so. The only reason I ever brought it up online was because how amazingly well it got under people's skin. In all my years on the internet, I've never seen anything like it. The unadulterated rage and butthurt people displayed when others were discussing MLP was almost palpable. "Who is your favorite pony" was essentially the "what class you gon play, Guardian" from 2013, but only 10 times worse.
For reference, the only correct answers to that question are Fluttershy and Rarity. Fuck you Pip.
