Does it really bother you that companies get political or is it just that you dislike whatever it is their political stance is? I've seen a lot of people say this and it seems they all just disagreed with the political POV rather than the mere fact of the company having political opinions. You mention you'll instead take your business to Adidas instead. Are you aware that Adidas has already gone political on numerous occasions? In 2015, the company launched a fund to help high schools make their sports teams more politically correct. The next year, its CEO spoke out against Brexit. In 2017, it aired a commercial to get football teams to change "offensive" names like The Indians to something more appropriate, as well as launch an ad in support of multiculturalism. Its daughter company Reebok has been even more politically active and has (among many other things) directly mocked Trump and supported Democrat senators. Are you going to go down the list of sneaker / sports attire companies and look for the few that have never gotten tied up in politics (good luck with that) or are you perhaps just not admitting that you're a bit peeved about Nike's particular stance here?
As for my opinion, good on Nike. The move has already been tremendously succesful for marketing. Kaepernick protests a worthy cause and does so in a way that is non-violent, doesn't harm or negatively affect anyone, and doesn't (or didn't) stop him from doing his job. The extreme American patriotism is pretty bewildering to begin with, and anyone who gets flustered by football man not standing for a song/flag should reconsider their priorities. Peaceful protest is an important part of freedom of speech, which is exactly what all the supposedly offended soldiers fight / fought to protect.

Remember how a theory test and a driving test + mandatory car insurance and road tax took away your cars?
I mean it probably would if they made it even slightly harder than getting a driver’s license. The majority of gun owners are severely retarded.
Idk about retarded but at least don't sell guns to ppl who are going from one therapist to another for several years to deal with their psyche issues.
Have you seen Sasha baron's sketch about kindergarten gun clubs. Shit looks like it was straight up from a GTA game.
It's a double edged sword. Gun culture is, to me, bewildering and has a fair bit of negative consequences but it's pretty important to a lot of Americans. The concern with having restrictions for people suffering from mental illness is that they will deter people from seeking help. A veteran / law enforcement officer with PTSD, someone with a bad childhood trauma, people suffering from depression / bipolar... If you'd start restricting these people's gun ownership or put them on a list that might be used for that purpose later, there would thousands and thousands of people with issues who would just not seek help out of fear of losing their guns. Imo it's baffling that people are so deep into their gun culture that they'd chose firearm over mental health, but it's a real sentiment. You'd end up with some of the most troubled people clinging to their firearms and not seeking help for their mental issues. I still support stricter rules on that but the gun culture and misplaced obsession with firearms will undermine the effectiveness.

Quake Champions is f2p now.
"Shooter fps - no unless it's new and fun"
Thank goodness it's both new and fun then.

I knew that they 're often willing to email free copies but I didn't know that journals take 100% of the cake
Man, I sometimes check my papers' stats and feel the pain seeing how I get exactly $0 for hundreds of downloads and reads of my research. Feels bad man.

It's also a huge cost in some cases to even get your research published. Some publishers in the states charge upward of $3,000 to do so. It's a real shitshow since it's the only real way to put your work out legitimately.
To be clear, this is almost entirely for open access journals though. I've never heard of a pay wall one charging that much.

Bruh, how do people not see this shit coming. You see that motherfucker?
I rarely say this flat out, but this was a direct failure of gun legislation. The guy was diagnosed with pretty severe mental issues, was in two mental health / therapy facilities for extended periods of time, was on anti-psychotic medication for schizophrenia and bi-polar disorder, had a history of being extremely volatile and hostile, and still was able to buy all the guns he wanted in a perfectly legal manner. It's baffling, but he in no way "slipped through the cracks". This wasn't an issue of poor enforcement of the law or the authorities missing clear signs. This was the lack of gun control allowing and condoning this person to get firearms.
Not to mention he was a gamer.
I saw on the news that he frequently stayed up all night playing electronic games.
I support an exception to the second amendment that applies exclusively to gamers.

More anti-video game fuel for the cancerous media to feed on.
The mainstream media has pretty much entirely accepted that video games do not cause violence. A quick google search gave me exactly zero results of the media turning this into an anti-video game thing, but it did provide me with plenty of mainstream articles discussing studies that show the exact opposite. The only notable person I can think of that recently blamed video games for mass shootings is the anti-mainstream media crowd's number one champion: Donald Trump.

How would you define sentience?
Knowing you exist
But Tay didn't know that.
yea she did
read the messages lol
Which messages show she's alive or aware of it?

Wasn't TayTweets basically just a markov chain? That's on the same level as the predictive text in your phone's keyboard, not sentience.
Microsoft never disclosed details on Tay's workings so no one really knows how it worked.
Okay, thanks.
You're probably not wrong though. There's quite a few people who think Tay was a derivative of a Markov chain. Microsoft just never disclosed any information on the technical background so it's all just speculation.

i've made numerous attempts at completing a living dex in the past, but when you start obliging me to move my ass over to a gamestop several hours away to ask some snotty apathetic employee for a fucking magearna or whatever the fuck, just to drive all the way back because i'm not getting literally anything else, you are asking WAY too much of me
Most event pokemon were pretty low effort. I don't have Magearna because it's a sun/moon one but the others weren't too bad. Almost all of the events were online (just connect to wi-fi and go to mystery gift) and the few that weren't just required you to connect to the network of a game store. Which still isn't great but you don't have to interact with anyone. And there's always the trading network if you're looking to fill in the gaps.

All done: completed the Living Dex with my girlfriend this weekend. I now have a save file with every single pokemon organized numerically. Includes every form of every evolutionary line (so not just getting a charmandar and evolving it into charizard, but having an individual charmander, charmeleon and charizard) as well as all the legendary / mythical / event pokemon #1-721 (including the likes of Volcanion, Meloetta, Genesect...). All obtained legit, got maybe 1 or 2 through online trades (if any at all). Also includes around 150+ shiny pokemon. A bunch of them are fakes gotten through (wonder)trades but dozens of them are as legit as can be.
congratulations
it doesn't count unless they all have competitive builds, though
Damn. Failed again. Some have competitive builds (even trained some 6 IV Dratinis with good moves and stuff like that) but don't care too much about the battling side of things.

Sun and Moon definitely improved some things (HMs being incorporated in the pokemon ranger riding thing rather than having to use a pokemon's slot for the move, the real-time map...) but others are really downgrades. The call for help mechanic is fun for the totems but can be really obnoxious otherwise. The Z moves are pretty lame (since you have to make a pokemon hold the item for it), take forever and are just dumb to the point that I've only used a single one in the 15 hours I've played. It's also stupid to play against. Pokemon gym girl switches to her final pokemon, goes first with the Z move and kills one of mine who was almost at full health despite the move not being very effective. It's dumb. Also, there's several points in the game where it feels lame that your pokemon aren't healed automatically. Of course, you don't want the game to be easy and there shouldn't just be free heals in between trainers or endurance sections of the game, but it's happened a few times that I beat a major trainer (who's friendly) close to a pokemon center, carried on assuming my pokemon would've been healed because there was no reason for them not to be, and then discovered that I had to go take a 2 minute detour to a pokemon center.
Just the little things, you know?

i tried doing that in my white game, but it just got too confusing and all over the place
then i tried again with y but yet again i failed
at least i finished the whole pokedex in y, so im happy about that
It helps a lot if you organize your boxes numerically. Your first box becomes 1-30 to house the first few dozen (starting with bulbasaur, ivysaur...), box two becomes 31-60 and so on. Makes it easy to keep an overview of the pokemon you have and to fill in the gaps. I'll post a pic or two of mine in a bit.

Now on to pokemon Sun. I pushed past the first island and, if I ignore all the obnoxious anime-tier stuff and horrible interactions, the game isn't too bad.

Eating meat. Making babies. Invading people in Dark Souls. Convincing people to do all of the above.
running games on emulators and making an emulator for games where it’s not already an option
modding games like S.T.A.L.K.E.R or The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim
How about playing only as Bayonetta in Smash Bros and picking female characters in other fighting games based exclusively on how skimpy their clothes are? That's another big one for me.

H3 is saying their podcast got shut down on YouTube and their channel's livestream privilege revoked for talking about Jones.
Hopefully it was just the AI being absolute shit again, and Alex Jones isn't like Voldemort now.
"Hi Ethan - Our team looked into this and determined the live stream was taken down incorrectly. The strike has been removed. Our apologies and thank you for your patience!" There's no way Youtube would ban people for talking about Alex Jones.
