Now so long as the ruling isn't appealed and repealed by the government (which they intend to do)
I tried to ignore it but the jurist in me won't allow it. Rulings are never repealed (and especially not by the government, but by the Courts). They're overturned, reversed, vacated or set aside, but not repealed. Laws, acts and decrees are repealed, but not rulings.

I signed on just to make a thread about this too. It's very much real and a ruling sure to be applauded by many. As for Brexit, given that a large majority of MP's (75%) very much favored and support Britain's membership of the EU, this could prove to be very interesting. Entertaining news indeed.

Most people don't even let you know which syllable you're supposed to stress--which is low-key the most important part.
Whoops. My bad.

human rights,
but you support an organization that treads upon personal autonomy and lives to violate the NAP.
It also does more for human rights than most organisations in the world. Still, I can support such a party violating the NAP still and know more about human rights than anyone else. Not mutually exclusive.

Oh yeah, I also know more Latin than anyone else here.

Duh-sid-ew-us is how I'd say it, without looking it up.
I mean, English (and pretty much every other language) has instances of spelling with different possible pronunciations. Lead can be led or leed, depending on the meaning, for example. But this word, while uncommon and not that easy (I never heard of it before), seems to me like it only has one reasonable pronunciation.
Unless I'm wrong here and got my pronunciation completely wrong, in which case you are free to make fun of me now.
you were almost right, but the second "d" is actually a palato-alveolar affricate (like "j," or a soft "g"), like this
the denti-alveolar (hard "d") is how i'd expect most non-english speakers to work it out, so i can't really fault you
Sure, but that's exactly what I thought and said to myself. Just didn't know how you're supposed to spell out a soft D in letters, lol. And the alveolar and such you're using take me way back to high school when this was taught in class for Dutch. Forgotten all about it though.

A decent amount of things, probably. Academic research (although Turkey comes to mind), human rights, proposal writing, almost all aspects of law, a number of languages, data protection, cybercrime policy, history of certain countries, the EU, some video games (Quake, Wolfenstein ET)...
Maybe Dark Souls 1 a little while ago too, but I'm rusty now and others are very knowledgeable as well. Gun control too, but others probably know more about the practicalities in their area and so on.

How do you pronounce it?
Deck-Id-uous?
di-sih-jew-us
di-sih-jew-eye
How do you people not know how to pronounce your own language? I can tell exactly how to say it from just looking at it.
it's easy to surmise how it's pronounced, yeah, but it would sure be funny if you had it wrong despite your bravado

I would vote for Clinton if I could. Best policies, best qualifications.
Are you kidding? Maybe you may think she has the best compared to others running. But that's not saying much.
Ehm, yeah. Of course I don't think she has the best policies and qualifications of everyone in the world. But out of this sorry bunch? Absolutely.

Seems like a bit of a wasted effort. If it's supposed to be debunking myths, you'd think they'd publicise it a bit more to counter the shite that comes out every Sunday.
Yeah, I agree that would be nice. But this is hardly intended to publicly debunk myths. It's a few members of the European Commission working in the UK who occasionally contribute to this part of the Commission's blog site.

I mean, surely you have read these before.
Yes, and I have nothing but contempt for Boris Johnson.
Glad you agree with me on this. I really did not make this thread to start another Brexit discussion. I just thought that it was a good representation of how the EU is very often represented in an inaccurate and highly misleading fashion, which I think is quite a shame. I'm not blind to its shortcomings and flaws, but through my years of EU law and now my international working experience too, I've learned to appreciate its achievements too. I think it's a bit of a shame that the Union, as imperfect as it may be, is presented in such an inaccurate and detrimental way. It pains me a little to see how blatant lies and misinformation are used to mislead and manipulate many people who benefit from the EU but lack the knowledge or education to see it. It really is an incredible shame, I think.

I personally liked the full tower you picked out over the mid tower, but that's probably cause I'm a sucker for windowed cases and I have a Corsair 760T.
Yeah, I did like the glass look. But I'm trying to cut down on unnecessary expenses here to justify the upgrade to the 1080. Plus, it'll likely just go under my desk and I don't care that much about what it looks like.

I think this is relevant to the topic.
No, it isn't. Not even close actually. This is about untruthful and dishonest news reporting. It's about deliberately spreading inaccurrate information in the media to push an agenda and with the full knowledge that your average reader is incapable of telling apart lies from the truth. Regardless of whether you're the biggest europhile imaginable or hate the EU with a burning passion, any reasonable and intelligent person should look for accuracy of information and truthfulness or objectivity from the media outlets spreading it, and condemn those who post misleading and incorrect information.

This page really doesn't offer anything interesting with regards to the motivations for Brexit. Nor is it intended to. It picks out a select few sensationalist headlines and gives the actual story and truth behind them. I didn't make this thread to discover the motivations behind Brexit, as they're pretty well known (even though the Britons I work with are still stunned they prevailed). The sole purpose was to show how there has been a legitimate smear campaign going on against the EU for several decades. This also is nothing new, as the way Boris Johnson dealt with this and British newspapers caught on is well known at this point, but it just comes to show how abysmal and biased the coverage of the EU has been in much of the British media. I don't think anyone can reasonably deny that deliberately ignoring all good news and misrepresenting everything else to the point that it's journalistic dishonesty and simply lying for decades does influence the opinion of the generally poorly educated and ignorant public, which then played a considerable part in the anti-European feelings amongst many. It's like that article I discussed recently. The Council of Europe had a research committee look into the effects media covering terrorists, finding that British media focuses a lot on certain aspects of terrorism (in addition to having an opinion on dozens of other countries). In certain news outlets in the UK, this was headlined as "Europe to ban British media from naming terrorists' religion". Not only was this completely false (it was just research into media coverage, no project or legislation), but it deliberately kept using "Europe" to trick readers into thinking it was about the EU (without ever mentioning anything about the CoE) and even used a picture of the European union flag in the background. Absolutely despicable, and you and I both know that no average voter or reader will have the smarts or knowledge to realise how false that is. I don't at all believe it's the EU overregulating certain things that lead to Brexit, but I do think it's very hard to deny that the amount of populism and much of the British media consistently portraying the EU in a terrible light for several decades played a considerable part in fostering anti-European sentiments and broadening the perceived gap in values / culture.

Some very good points there, thanks. I will go for an ethernet cable and run it through the house. I'd be installing my PC at the top floor and can already detect a noticeable drop up there in signal strength on wireless. I'd need a bridge to boost the signal in addition to the wireless card, which would cost me a lot more than a simple 20m ethernet cable at around 12-15€. I'll also add in a case fan. Someone told me to get a $20 Noctua one, but there's highly rated ones out there for half that price. Got any suggestions of your own? What kind of Mid case would you suggest? The main reason I wanted a full one was to accommodate the big Noctua fan. From the looks of it, the Corsair 200R ATX Mid seems to be one of the highest rated oned at PCpartpicker. Good reviews and considerably cheaper than the other one. What is your opinion on different kinds of RAM. You said that all of the GTX 1080's are pretty much the same regardless of their brand, but what about the RAM? Your suggested build contains different RAM and so does the one suggested to me by a guy on Reddit (saying I should get these ones. The price difference comes down to around 20€ so it's not that much either way, but the lack of reviews and famous brand name does worry me slightly. Will I be fine getting a GeIL model one (which are pretty much the cheapest ones in my area)? Also, is there much of a difference between their writing speeds? Will I be much worse off with a 2400mhz one than with a 3000? Not that it really matters, as the 3000 GeIL ones appear to be the cheapest regardless.

>hating on the 212 EVO
It's basically a cooling standard. If you don't plan to overclock (i7-6700K is really overkill btw) then it will do perfectly fine. It might get loud now and again, but you won't have heating issues. One of the things you can afford to skimp a little on and not have it inversely affect the performance.
In that case I'll probably end up going with the 212 EVO. Thanks.

Today I learned that the European Commission has part of its website dedicated to debunking myths about the EU published in (primarily British) newspapers over the past 20 years. It being alphabetically organized and beautifully categorized by theme (such as, for example, "Milk, Yogurt - 2003") made me both happy to imagine someone actually working on this and sad to again realize the extent of the British smear campaign against the EU. Brexit: brought to you by mountains of false information, populism and simple ignorance. http://blogs.ec.europa.eu/ECintheUK/euromyths-a-z-index/

As for the RAM, the G Skill Ripjaws are what I currently have in my computer. It's served me well enough so I can attest to it. Also stick with the Noctua that is another component that I can attest to. As for the power supply, stick with the 650W. The 550W will probably work fine, but that extra 100W is pretty nice to have around in case you eventually decide to shove another video card in somewhere down the line. As for the SSD, I don't really know. I'm not sure how much of a difference it will make, but maybe do some more research on that first just to be sure. I've got a 500 gig Samsung SSD in my computer right now, but I don't remember the exact model. It's been pretty good to me so far.
Alright, thanks man. You helped me out a lot. Definitely going for the Ripjaws V Series, the 650W PSU and a Samsung SSD. The one thing I'm probably not going to follow on is the Noctua cooler. I fully believe you that it's a great cooler (people have been calling it the best air cooler there is), but it's just quite expensive. I've made similar build requests on B.net, Reddit and some other tech forums, and I've had a lot of people tell me that unless I'm looking to either overlock my card to the max or go with SLI, the Noctua is pretty serious overkill and a cooler half or even a third of the price (CM Hyper EVO or Dark Rock) will definitely suffice (especially if I'd add a small case fan for improved airflow). Especially if I'd go for a better GPU, it seems like this would be a good way to cut some of the costs.
