Just discovered that the Portuguese judicial authorities use Comic Sans to publish court cases in their limited access databases.

Looks extremely professional.

It's important to note that this hasn't been validated by anyone, let alone NASA.
I read it as a paper by NASA scientists which has now been peer reviewed. And I know next to nothing about this, so I'm as skeptical as they come. I'm not going to take anything at face value.

Pretty controversial topic, but the NASA peer-reviewed paper has finally been published and confirms that, as far as they can tell, the thing works.

They've also come up with a hypothesis as to why that is and why it defies what was thought to be impossible.

Quote
It's not the focus of this paper, but the team does offer a hypothesis:

"[The] supporting physics model used to derive a force based on operating conditions in the test article can be categorised as a nonlocal hidden-variable theory, or pilot-wave theory for short."

Pilot-wave theory is a slightly controversial interpretation of quantum mechanics.

It's pretty complicated stuff, but basically the currently accepted Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics states that particles do not have defined locations until they are observed.

Pilot-wave theory, on the other hand, suggests that particles do have precise positions at all times, but in order for this to be the case, the world must also be strange in other ways – which is why many physicists have dismissed the idea.

But in recent years, the pilot-wave theory has been increasing in popularity, and the NASA team suggests that it could help explain how the EM Drive produces thrust without appearing to propel anything in the other direction.

"If a medium is capable of supporting acoustic oscillations, this means that the internal constituents were capable of interacting and exchanging momentum," the team writes.

"If the vacuum is indeed mutable and degradable as was explored, then it might be possible to do/extract work on/from the vacuum, and thereby be possible to push off of the quantum vacuum and preserve the laws of conservation of energy and conservation of momentum."

Link to paper.

It's kinda why i've been juggling weapons a lot through the game.

It slows your levelling but makes you more well rounded for lategame.

You could always spam alchemy, then buy up all the ingredients everywhere and make them into more valuable potions for infinite wonga. Then you can spend freely on trainers.

I've had Skyrim since 2011 and I've never once got into Alchemy. Is it that good?
its part of what makes the game so unbelievably easy. alchemy in skyrim is seriously broken af
Hm, maybe I should actually look into these skills. I have completely ignored smithing, enchanting and alchemy throughout my plays.

Smithing and enchanting are pretty easy to level up
Nothing really happens.
until you're wearing fully upgraded & enchanted armor perfectly suited to your playstyle. its good for RP and good for gameplay dynamic, enchantments especially encourage a bit of diversity (something sorely needed in this game)
Can you elaborate on that last part?

My issue, if you even want to call it that, with those skills is that there's nothing going on when leveling them. All of my other skills, whether it's armor, archery, block, one/two handed, sneak, pickpocket, speech, lockpicking and so forth, level up when I play the game and engage with the rest of the world. You get better at them while exploring, questing and completing objectives. But the skills we've talked about? It just feels like a grind while nothing happens. The world stands still while you spend a few hours doing the same things over and over to gain some levels. To me, it just feels like you're doing something you'd do in an MMO, only now just by yourself for no real purpose.

I dunno. Probably just me, but even the thought of it makes me not want to play the game.

Yeah, but they also seem kinda boring. In a single player game like this, grinding out stats like that has never been my thing. Nothing really happens.

Haven't even spoken to the Jarl of Whiterun yet and I've already got 70 pickpocketing.
How
You can get your pickpocket skill maxed out in about 15-20 minutes if you don't get caught. Just pickpocket everyone you see walking around in a city like Solitude or Riften.
I see. I've been trying to be more immersive than that, but damn lol.
Pickpocketing xp seems to be based on the value of what you steal. With the Thief stone activated and just 3-4 perk points put into the skill, you can get a 90% success rate on a lot of pretty expensive items. So just go around stealing all jewelry, weapons, potions and gold from anyone you come across. Simply stealing a ring / necklace worth a few hundred gold will be enough to go up a full level up until like 40. And if you really want to boost it, you can put the item back and steal it again (even though I've never done that). If you don't mind quicksave and quickloading when you occasionally mess up, it's one of the easiest skills to get up. I spoke to the Jarl and am now half way over to Riften. By breaking into every house and pickpocketing everyone I've seen, I'm at 86 pickpocketing now.

I'd try, but I don't have daedric warhammers nor do I have adopted children yet.

Directly relates to what I'm working on. The British partners are pretty concerned.
Are you able give anymore details?
I'm an aspiring PhD in Law currently working at my law faculty on a project of the European Commission. Police surveillance is a big part of it and we've involved partners from all over the world. Some of the ones from the UK are very concerned with the scope of the investigatory powers granted by this law.

3371
I'm still impressed with Skyrim.

How
I have mild kleptomania in certain games and steal everything of value anywhere. >_>

Case in point: the 200 bottles of special mead I stole from that brewery outside Whiterun. The chest over at Gerdur's house is overflowing with items I stole and can't sell yet.

Yeah...

Not really a "debate," I thought we were having a pleasant conversation. Albeit with big blocky messages.
Oh, I didn't mean this particular conversation. Just the general morality of mods debate.

I do intend to try out some mods after beating the game normally, by the way. Just gonna get some achievements first.

Also, Verb, do you feel the same way about authorized mods? I'm not going to get into the debate because it'll change fuck all, but do you consider them any different? If the developers of the game give people the tools to mod and actually provide an official platform where everyone can download and share mods? Is that still unacceptable or is it fine when they explicitly encourage people to mod their game?

Trolls are a lot stronger than I remember. Stumbled upon 2 in a cave close to Whiterun and had to run because they healed faster than I could damage them.

I almost forgot about this, Flee. Go to this place called Blackreach, Fus Ro Dah that big hanging light, and a chest will appear next to you with 20,000 gold in it.
This sounds about as legit as sending new players to that one town filled with Deathclaws in Fallout NV with promises of great loot.

I don't understand why you're not modding it if you got it for the Xbox. That's the entire point of getting it again.
He explained that. Achievements.
Exactly. I don't care much about the actual gamerscore and things like that, but I'm a bit of a completionist and they usually help you get more out of a game when trying to get them all.

Go for Imperials, seeing as how you're a globalist shill.
That's actually a good reason to go with them. In the end, there's no real differences between the sides, right? I mean, in terms of how it shapes the world and options / rewards you get.
Nah it's really just who you find most compelling.

I mean you'll see a few more Imperial/Stormcloaks roaming around after you complete the storyline but no, it doesn't really impact the world in any significant way.
Point taken.

Imperials, here I come.

Also, I think the game looks pretty great. The draw distance is amazing and the dynamic motion blur effect is nicely done. Definitely doesn't look bad at all and loads very quickly.
