Well... the game was fun while it lasted. Raven Software said that they "wanted it close to the original as possible" Haha yeah right. This is the last Call of Duty I buy. I'm fucking done.

RIP CoD4 Remastered
November 4, 2016 - December 13, 2016

Is this actually true???
Yup. Activision and Raven can eat shit.

We should have honestly seen this coming, tbh.
Am I the only one not too bothered by this? These aren't new weapons, perks, killstreaks or overhauls of how the game plays. No double jumping, wallrunning, jetpacking, supply drops or so on. It's just more customisation and cosmetics, it seems. The weapon kits are cause for concern, but I'm reserving judgment until release. Also, I'm also kinda happy with this. It's nice to see that they do intend to actually maintain MWR instead of just slapping it onto the package to get people to buy IW.

Kinda want to buy it because IW's campaign looks cool and pretty much exactly the kind of scifi I love, and I never played much MW (Never really played the CoD games).

Just gonna wait until it goes cheap though - is MW a DL code or can I get it preowned and have it?
The code comes with the game and is a seperate download. If you buy physical, you need the IW disc in order to play MWR.
Yeah, it's part of the disc on the physical version.. One disc installs both games. To play either of them, you need the disc inserted.

Rightfully so. A very sound judgment and correct application of the law, in my opinion.

Showdown, Wet Work, Strike, Pipeline, Countdown, Bloc, and Winter Crash is going to be added on Dec 13 for FREE.

They're also adding Gun Game and the Hardpoint gamemodes. Hardpoint is going to be an extreme pain in the ass to play, especially with the shitty spawns and Frag x3 perk.
Oh damn, that's actually really nice. Some good maps and Gun Game is great.

Comparing any games combat to Dark Souls is rather silly since that's all Dark Souls really focuses on tbh. And even then, the combat in DS3 isn't that amazing.
I don't see why it's not a valid comparison. Dark Souls' primary focus does lie more on combat and not so much on other things, but that should not be a reason for other games not to try and achieve the same quality of combat system. As much as it sucks, Dark Souls has to some extent ruined combat in other third person action RPG games like it for me. It's been almost 6 years and I can't help but compare games like Witcher to it and find that their combat is usually slow, clunky and boring compared to what DS1 brought to the table.

That being said, I really do hope I'm wrong about the Witcher 3. I primarily stopped playing because I didn't have the time to play games for extended periods of time (which is what I prefer doing for games like it) so I switched to something easier to get in to and out of. It's just that it hasn't sucked me in or really blew me away yet.

I stil have to keep playing. I hope it picks up. The combat is disappointing compared to, say, Dark Souls and the game didn't immediately pull me in. Pausing mid combat to manage your spells and the whole alchemy part of the game were pretty off putting. Still planning on picking it up and powering through in the hopes of it getting better soon, but I didn't think it was fantastic by any measure.

Reuters:

"Trump and Son did not give a timeline for the investment.

The lack of details on investment timetable also prompted doubts whether the promise of money and jobs will be met, as Sprint is slashing staff numbers to cut more than $2 billion in costs this year.

It was not immediately clear how much of SoftBank's investment had been disclosed before. Softbank said on Nov. 7, the day before the U.S. election, it planned to make future large-scale investments via the $100 billion tech fund, rather than on its own, to avoid growing already-bloated debt."

Gonna go out on a limb here and say that Trump's actual involvement was minimal and that this has been months in the making and would've happened either way.

« on: December 05, 2016, 03:10:16 PM »
To be pretty, I don't really see why the court would've ruled on this any differently, although I'm not familiar with the details of Germany's laws on uniforms. A number of people wearing bright orange jackets telling people they shouldn't visit bars or casinos is not illegal. As Turkey pointed out, it's no different from Christian extremists picketing the streets telling people they shouldn't be gay or support the military. As long as they do not intimidate, threaten or use force on people to make them comply with their requests, it should not necessarily be illegal.

Besides, I can't be the only one to think that if this had happened to an alt right group protesting immigration centers and they would've actually been convicted by the court, you guys would've been all over this because Germany would be infringing on the freedom of speech, assembly and conviction of people just trying to make a statement and win people over for their cause.

Bait title too, man. Not really fair.

A vast majority of the (especially Muslim) immigrants come into Britain through its national immigration system
This isn't true. In 2014, non-EU immigration was only ~50,000 persons higher than EU immigration.
Yeah, I could've worded it better, but in absolute numbers the UK immigrants coming from outside the EU still outnumber the European ones by a very large margin, if I recall correctly. And I was mainly referring to the Muslim and Eastern immigrants he was referring too. Can't be bothered to look it up again on mobile, but the EU immigrants are still primarily actual Europeans. There's no stats on this specifically (that I know of), but I can't imagine it being true that the Muslim and Arab immigrants are swarming Britain by abusing the freedom of movement for EU citizens.

What do you think abou this, Meta?

3315
Woah, who would've thought such sense and good taste could come out of a Brexiteer. I agree for the most part.

3316
This. A vast majority of the (especially Muslim) immigrants come into Britain through its national immigration system, which has nothing to do with the EU and has been going on for decades. The UK also holds a special status within the Union which exempts it from participating in any refugee programs. This idea that Brexit is the only solution to stop the hordes of Muslim Pakis and Syrians from turning the UK into Great Islamica is not really accurate.

3317
Brexit was fundamentally about whether or not Britain would remain a white country, or if it would become a paki/arab/polish mess, anyone saying they voted leave for any other reason is just being PC to avoid harassment and cries of racism.
I think that is a very flawed understanding of both the outcome of the referendum and the immigration situation in the UK and EU. But as I said, I don't have much time or interest in discussing that now. My post was meant not to address the UK actually leaving the Union or the consequences thereof, but just how a yes/no question to such a broad and complex issue was bound to make a whole lot of people very unhappy. Remain voted for a very clear and single outcome. Leave was a bit of a basket case of people wanting out for very different reasons, ranging from sovereignty to membership fees and from anti-establishmentarianism (isn't that one of the longest words in the English language, by the way?) to immigration. No matter what kind of Brexit we're going to see, it won't be the outcome that many Leave voters had in mind. That's just my point, really.

I so badly want to read the thread but I still need to wait another 3 weeks until I can finally play it. The pain is real yo.

I posted this from the first page of thread so no spoilers still, heh. I'll catch up eventually.
Honestly, I'm really not the biggest fan. I played for maybe 2 hours and haven't touched the game still. I know they're supposed to be for kids, but so far I feel like they keep targeting younger and younger audiences. I cringed a few times during first two hours and haven't felt like playing much since.

I would like a good, credible source on this, please.

Enjoying the purchase so far. Haven't played IW yet, but MW is still a great game. Though, before playing I convinced myself that my old memories of how OP the M16 was were just exaggerated. They weren't. The thing is so powerful it amazes me they didn't at least nerf it a bit.

P90 steady aim, you're welcome.
Oh I know. Put a few hundred hours into CoD 4 on 360 and PC back in the day, so I know what carries a punch. The M16 is still on a different level though. The hidden damage boost with the red dot sight + stopping power = one burst kill anywhere on the body. A shotgun with steady aim in close quarters, unbeatable at mid range and rivaling a sniper at long distances. I'm not the kind to complain about weapon balance, but the M16 is still one of those guns which has stuck with me since the game came out in 2007 as being notoriously overpowered. There's no downsides to using it and it performs amazingly in pretty much every single situation thanks to its damage, pin-point accuracy and high rate of fire.

3321
Isn't this a loss for the UK?
Brexit was never going to be anything but a loss for the UK. And I'm not even talking about the consequences of actually leaving the EU. Just the backlash from the vote. It never should've been a referendum like this. Cameron made a poor gamble and hadn't anticipated just how easily terrible news reporting and largely uninformed voters can sway things like this. And now, it's nothing short of a mess. And that is, again, not talking about actually leaving the EU, which is a whole thing altogether.

I called this months before the referendum. The people voting to Remain had a clear purpose and wanted the same thing. Leave, on the other hand, is a basket case of people voting either against an easy scapegoat or for a broad array of different things (which contributed to their victory). Some voted because they can't stand foreigners or because "british jobs for british workers", while others realized how important cheap migrant workers are for British businesses. Some voted because they didn't want to pay the membership fee. Others because they wanted more sovereignty. Others because they simply hated the Union. And so on and so forth.

And now they're in this situation. Go with one type of Brexit and you'll have millions going "wait, I never wanted not to be able to just freely work, study, travel and live in the EU". Another, and you'll see "wait, I never wanted to stop being able to make use of cheap migrant workers". Another, and you're getting "wait, we still have to follow EU rules"? "Wait, what about all the EU funds we used to get, I didn't want to lose them." "Wait, you're saying we still have to follow their rules to play ball in the biggest economy in the world anyways?"

There is no way Brexit will make people happy. 50% already doesn't want to leave and the remaining 50% who wanted out voted they way they did for a dozen different reasons. Of the 50% who voted Leave, only a small minority will get their desired Brexit. In the end, you'll have probably a large majority of voters left with a feeling of "I never wanted this", either because they wanted to remain or because they didn't want the kind of Brexit the negotiations end on. If there ever really needed to be a referendum, it should've never been a simple "yes/no" question on such a broad and complex topic.

And this news just supports what I expected from as soon as the results were in. I think it's going to be a Brexit primarily in name only. Despite tough talk on both sides, both parties are heavily intertwined and engaged in one another. The UK will still contribute one way or another, it'll still have to abide by most of what the EU decides, there will still be (mostly) free movement and so on. And the government will sell it both ways. As a victory for Leave, because they're technically out of the Union, and as a consolation for Remain, because little will change in practice.

I'm bored of CoD because it's the same thing over and over
Eh, I think that's a bit of a blanket statement you can apply to heaps of games, but to each his own. Haven't played CoD since Black Ops 2, loved the original CoD 4 back in the day and the IW / MW combo has gotten pretty excellent reviews overall. Haven't bought it yet anyways, but I'm thinking of giving it a go. At $45, I'm sure it'll hold me over long enough to get my money's worth.

Infinite Warfare looks like absolute dog shit, and I'm not spending $80 to play a game I enjoyed 9 years ago.
IW got pretty good reviews though. And it was $45 for me.
Every CoD minus Ghosts gets good reviews. It plays almost the exact same as Black Ops 3. Layout and everything. Not worth any money to me.
Never got to play BO3, so that won't be much of an issue to me.
