The community's definitely fun at times. After this game: I got these two messages. It was my first game using a shotgun (I think), I didn't camp for a moment and spent most of the match in my titan. Welp.

I'm talking abut basically immigrating to another country as an American. I think that's dumb.
It's only a good thing that this really is none of your concern then. This was not a decision taken lightly. It was extensively talked about and researched. We weighed the pros and cons and looked at things like finances, aspirations, family situation, education and so on before making a decision. Despite you repeatedly insisting on how much I hate the country, I visited the US several times a year for often months at a time and was genuinely and fully open to the idea of actually moving and living there because, really, I quite enjoyed what I saw of it. As I've tried to explain numerous times at this point, I'm just an openly critical person on here. And since 95% of everything Serious here relates to the US and my own country virtually never comes up on account of me being our only member there, this makes me seem disproportionally critical of the US when I am equally (if not more so because it actually affects me) sceptical of my own government. My criticism of the EU and some of its legislation is being published soon in an international and peer reviewed academic journal, and another recent article discussing the shortcomings of Belgian police information management is pending approval. It just doesn't come up because no one here cares. You can think whatever you want, but I think that judging someone's choice and dismissing it as dumb while not even knowing half the story or reasons that went into the decision is a lot dumber than someone just moving to a different country when they still can move back at a moment's notice.

but I do hope for positive change.
Oh look we have a new energy page. https://www.whitehouse.gov/america-first-energy http://motherboard.vice.com/read/all-references-to-climate-change-have-been-deleted-from-the-white-house-website
> The Trump Administration is also committed to clean coal technology, and to reviving America’s coal industry, which has been hurting for too long.
>President Trump is committed to eliminating harmful and unnecessary policies such as the Climate Action Plan and the Waters of the U.S. rule.
Also the LGBT rights page was removed as well
And that's not even the start of it. Stuff like this is what really blows my mind. Never held public office, zero experience managing public schools, history of fighting against the separation of church and state in schools, blatantly lied about conflicts of interest and prior investments before the Senate, sought to use taxpayer money to pay for Christian and religious schools, literally admitted that she lacks familiarity with the system and has no experience being responsible for anything near the size and complexity of the program, faces backlash from a ton of teachers and couldn't answer basic questions about what standardized testing and such even mean. And still, she is deemed to be the best pick to lead the future of your country's education. But then, things become a bit more clear. > she is a hardcore conservative billionaire involved in Republican deals, sponsorships and programs against gays or separation of church and state > her family funded 10 out of 12 people on the committee vetting her and deciding on her appointment, having paid them them over $250,000, and has donated 200 million dollars to the Republican party. When asked about it, her response literally was: "I have decided, however, to stop taking offense at the suggestion that we are buying influence. Now I simply concede the point. They are right. We do expect something in return.” Literally what. How are people standing for these kind of practices? The very people who are supposed to be providing checks, balance and reviews are paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by those who have no gripes publicly saying "yeah, I expect something in return for my money". This is cronyism and corruption. It's filling the swamp with even more trash and murky water than before. And then, the boss of it all, takes the stage in front of thousand of applauding people going "USA USA" and tells them that they are taking the power from the elite to give it back to the people. That "a small group in our nation's capital has reaped the rewards of government while the people have borne the cost" and that this is ending. That while the very people he surrounds himself with, gives power and puts into important positions celebrated because of how well they were doing, normal people suffered, but now no more. That there will be no more people enriching themselves through foreign investments and operations while he himself and many of those around him made their fortune doing exactly that, and will continue to do so. Part of the reason why I feel strongly about demagogues and populism is because it's never with the people's interest in mind. These people who think they're taking back control are really just being screwed over just the same by those misleading them and manipulating their grievances for their benefits. And stuff like this is legitimately disgusting.

I actually could see it, maybe in about 100-200 years. How else can we muster up the ability to become a space-faring humanity? Geo-political squabbles would have to take a backseat.
Unfortunately with that plausibility, I will never see my dream of a fully independent and autonomous Principality of Zeon.
No doubt that they exist, but I really don't see that ever becoming a reality. To be fair, a more centralized government might not even be that bad 200 years in the future. As you said, there might come a point where we'd have to do something like that to ensure the survival of our species. But that'd be decades from now and for entirely different reasons than globalist NWO scum. At this point, I can't see something like this happening during our lifetimes.

Exactly which part was the bullshit that triggered a disgusted look? I would hope it wasn't the ceremony in general.
Just got to enjoy seeing my girlfriend watch this with a look of disgust and disbelief on her face. The fact that people actually fall for this bullshit is baffling. Most of it, really. She exclaimed "what" and "how do people even buy this" a few times. It's not that the ceremony disgusts her or me, but she's definitely smart enough to recognize how much of what Trump is saying is vapid, empty and hypocritical.

Global-Government supporters would be the right term for them then. It seems on the subject of the EU, people I associate with have a habit of steering to an extreme. "The EU isn't enough" along with "We need a central government that is divided among the continents!" and "One race, one government!" it truly scares the shit out of me.
Also, May literally praised (on the topic of Brexit yesterday), and I quote, "the forces of liberalism... and globalisation that have had - and continue to have - such an overwhelmingly positive impact on our world…" Her speech was pretty hypocritical and flawed, imo, but Brexit is heading right for even more globalism if it succeeds. Gotta be honest and say that I've never actually met anyone like that. I'm around academics, experts and professors / researchers all the time (and they tend to be a highly pro EU crowd) and have never seen anyone actually argue in favor of a government like that. No doubt that they exist, but I really don't see that ever becoming a reality.

Please keep these articles coming, I fully support the UKs decisions and I want to BTFO my colleagues IRL who are shouting globalist BS.
These articles don't say anything, though. It's just grandstanding. This is all talk. There's no way in he'll they'd admit to anything else as it would be disastrous for confidence. They have to say these things regardless of the actual situation and reality of things, and that goes for both the EU and UK. So I'm not saying he's wrong, but he would say this regardless of prospects as to boost confidence and not appear weak in negotiations. Also, May literally praised (on the topic of Brexit yesterday), and I quote, "the forces of liberalism... and globalisation that have had - and continue to have - such an overwhelmingly positive impact on our world…" Her speech was pretty hypocritical and flawed, imo, but Brexit is heading right for even more globalism if it succeeds.

jazz with the fight scenes isnt going anywhere lol
Maybe it'll grow on me.
i never considered the possibility that it could be a bit of a turn off for someone. it always really appealed to me
As I implied, it kinda depends on the situation. I can see it fit for some very whimsical and fun situations, but others? Eh...

Alright, so I finished the first episode. Obviously, spoilers ahead. So the show's apparently about these guys flying around in space talking about beef stew that doesn't actually have beef in it. They capture bandits to collect bounties while other people do superpower drugs through their eyes in shady bars. Our protagonist gets up to no good with the bad guy's big breasted sidekick who dreams of a better life on Mars, but almost gets killed in the process as he pickpockets some dank ganja. Plot twist: our sidekick pregnant lady is pregnant with drugs, not babies. Some fighting ensues and the bad guy drug dealer is being chased off the planet by our protagonist. Then there's a bit of an emotional moment at the end there when the girl finally decides that enough is enough because her friend does more drugs while flying the escape plane, so she just decides to shoot him and die in space because that was her breaking point, apparently. The intro is meh, but much better than the typical anime openings I've seen. No crazy effects or j-pop going on. Still, I don't think I'll sit through it again. Animation is pretty good and the characters are likably enough. Not a big fan of the whimsical jazz accompanying fight scenes, but that might've been just this one time. The story hasn't really drawn me in yet, but we're only one episode in and I'm sure things will become more interesting as the plot thickens. Also, I'm gonna give the sub a chance. Subtitles are <3 and while the dub isn't bad, I can't exactly say I'm particularly impressed either. Especially the side characters sound really bad, but that's probably no different in the Japanese version. Overall: not too shabby but nothing yet that makes me want to just binge the rest. 6/10 so far. I'll be giving the next episode a go soon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the EU benefit more from Britain being in the single market than vice versa?
Depends on how you look at it. London is a financial hotspot, but the UK relies on the Union for around 50% of its imports and exports (as opposed to around 10% the other way around).

http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-38641208Theresa May has said the UK "cannot possibly" remain within the European single market, as staying in it would mean "not leaving the EU at all".
But the prime minister promised to push for the "greatest possible" access to the single market following Brexit.
In a long-awaited speech, she also announced Parliament would get a vote on the final deal agreed between the UK and the European Union. And Mrs May promised an end to the UK's "vast contributions" to the EU.
The prime minister used the speech to announce the UK's 12 priorities for Brexit negotiations:
Maintaining the common travel area between the UK and Irish Republic Tariff-free trade with the EU A customs agreement with the EU Continued "practical" sharing of intelligence and policing information "Control" of immigration rights for EU citizens in the UK and UK citizens in the EU
Mrs May said there would not be a "blow-by-blow" account of negotiations, set to get under way after Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty is invoked by the end of March. It was not her intention to "undermine" the EU or the single market, she added.
But she warned the EU against a "punitive" reaction to Brexit, as it would mean "calamitous self-harm for the countries of Europe and it would not be the act of a friend".
She said: "This agreement should allow for the freest possible trade in goods and services between Britain and the EU's member states. "It should give British companies the maximum possible freedom to trade with and operate within European markets and let European businesses do the same in Britain. But I want to be clear: what I am proposing cannot mean membership of the single market."
Mrs May added: "It would, to all intents and purposes mean not leaving the EU at all. That is why both sides in the referendum campaign made it clear that a vote to leave the EU would be a vote to leave the single market."
The single market allows the free movement of goods, services and workers between its members. The government had previously revealed few details about what it wants to secure from the Brexit talks. Labour has urged Mrs May to push for a "deal that works for trade".
EU leaders have said the UK cannot "cherry pick" access to the single market while restricting the free movement of people.
Addressing an audience including foreign ambassadors in central London, Mrs May said the UK had "voted for a brighter future for our country" and would become "stronger, fairer, more united" after Brexit. She said the UK's history was "profoundly internationalist" and would remain so.
Ahead of the speech, German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged the business community in her country to back her stance on Brexit, saying: "I'm asking you as representatives of the business world to act together with us, because should it become apparent that you can get full access to the single market even if you can choose certain things then we risk that every country cherry picks. That's why politics and business need to act together."
Conservative MP Dominic Raab, who campaigned for a Leave vote, said it was "highly likely" the UK would leave the formal structures of the single market and the customs union, and it was vital for Mrs May to argue a "positive case" for Brexit.
But Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron said: "You can call this Brexit clean, red, white and blue, or whatever you want. But this doesn't disguise the fact that it will be a destructive, hard Brexit and the consequences will be felt by millions of people through higher prices, greater instability and rising fuel costs."
Rupert Harrison, former chief of staff to ex-Chancellor George Osborne and previous chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers in the UK Treasury, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme it was "inevitable" the prime minister would aim to leave the single market. Welp, interesting times ahead. Not all bad but a few pretty regrettable things. I doubt the EU will just go along with this.

That's your own personal experience. While tragic, that's a single life. For your own sanity and comfort, it may be best to leave those memories behind.
But the female gender is more than one experience, it's 3.5 billion ones. And all of those lives have been affected by the patriarchal regime. You can't just drop a grudge that big, you can't just forget that collective memory.
Black people were slaves in United States Black people got their freedom and then they got their rights - are they still oppressed by white supremacy? Why or why not?
Come on guys, move it to the other thread. http://sep7agon.net/the-flood/discuss-oppression-in-this-thread/
