Might not be the best idea to grab a brand new game if you have to wait to get paid until you can get it.
Huh?

I don't get it, how else would I pay for a game? You kinda need money to buy things lol?
It's not that you have to pay for it, it's that you have to wait before you're able to pay for it. Unless that's not the case and I'm reading too much into it, but saying pointing out that you'll be waiting on your paycheck before buying a game you could otherwise just get right now does give that impression. You do you of course, but it seems a bit strange from a personal finance perspective.

Note that I already own everything in the gaming PC (with the exception of the 1080ti) and that I already have the GTX 1080 for the streaming PC. Final thoughts from any of our PC builders?

Just gotta wait now until I get the company going so I'll be able to write it all off as expenses. Pay less taxes and buy every component without a 20-25% tax on it? Hell yeah.

I'm probably going to get a 1080ti to put in the current pc with the i7 7700k. This will be the main gaming PC. I'll move my current 1080 to the new rig with a 2700x and then use that one for the encoding and streaming.

Sounds like a plan

Fuck me, what's the 25% tax about?
It's a sales tax of 21% (not 25). It's far less for most things but for some goods like electronics, it's around the 20% mark (for comparison, some states in the US have theirs at around 10% max). The way that sales tax works (and this is the same for the US) is that it's only paid by the final consumer, not by anyone in the production chain.

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/salestax.asp

Quote
Conventional or retail sales taxes are only charged to the end user of a good or service. Because the majority of goods in modern economies pass through a number of stages of manufacturing, often handled by different entities, a significant amount of documentation is necessary to prove who is ultimately liable for sales tax. For example, say a sheep farmer sells wool to a company that manufactures yarn. To avoid paying the sales tax, the yarn maker must obtain a resale certificate from the government saying that it is not the end user. The yarn maker then sells its product on to a garment maker, which must also obtain a resale certificate. Finally, the garment maker sells fuzzy socks to a retail store, which will charge the customer sales tax along with the price of said socks.
This applies to both goods and services, so if I buy PC parts as a company for my work / business (which I can easily justify as my stream / casting is part of my work activity), I can buy them with an invoice and not pay the 21% tax because I pass it on to the next one in line (the company that hires me). I can probably save around $400 on a $2,000 PC that way, for example.

Price points for graphics cards are:

- 1070 = €430.
- 1070ti = €450 - 460.
- 1080 = €550 - 560.
- 1080ti = €670 - 700.
- 2070 = €600.

I'm thinking of either doing the 1070ti or 1080ti but have been told the 2070 might not be bad for streaming stuff.

Future proof that rig brah, and don't be shy sending me whatever you don't need.
What parts would you consider futureproofing?

I would rock the Intel and 1080
The Ryzen has significantly more cores and threads though. It definitely outperforms the 8700k for streaming, rendering and productivity. As multiple cores/threads are being used in more games as well, I think you could well argue the 2700x is more futureproof. AMD has also confirmed that it'll be supported for its next 2 (?) generations of platforms, meaning that their processors will work on future motherboards just the same (whereas Intel requires an entirely different motherboard for every one of its CPU gens).

Not really seeing a downside then. No compatibility problems?
There shouldn't be. I think it's going to be the Ryzen for me. Just gotta settle on the right GPU.

I'm putting together a second computer for a dual PC setup for streaming and whatnot. It'll also be used for gaming (primarily by the girlfriend). Currently thinking of putting a Ryzen 2700x and GTX 1070 in it, but I'm also tempted to just turn it into the new main PC with a 8700k and 1080ti or so. Thoughts for streaming and whatnot?

Gaming / Re: Dark Souls Remastered

That's hardly a "challenge run". It's extra healing and offensive miracles hit like a meteor.
It's definitely a challenge run. DS1's offensive miracles are strong but have few uses and are not that easy to get early on. There's also not that many of them and they're not as flexible as the ones in later games. You need to do Tomb before you get WoG and clear Londo before Emit Force. SLB and DMB are the main reasons to do a Faith build but they're not allowed in the challenge run. What's left is just Nito's 2 uses AoE and the 3 Lightning Spears, one of which requires you to beat the game and the other has you do co-op (not allowed in challenge runs) or farm a late-game monster to get it through the Covenant. By challenge run standards it isn't a very hard one, but it's definitely a challenge and nothing too easy either.

And Verb, word of warning: offensive items are usually banned by default because of how much of the challenge they can remove. Black firebombs are powerful enough that they can be used effectively against most minions and many bosses throughout the entire game, while dung pies and poison throwing knives can cheese almost anything (poison boss from safety and watch its health tick down). When someone does, say, a broken sword hilt challenge run, the point is to squeeze as much damage out of the hilt by doing things out of order to get quick upgrade materials, use special gear/spells to increase your damage but be at a higher risk (like red tearstone ring or power within), and be forced to rely on your skills and planning l to beat bosses with a super short and weak weapon that puts you at a major disadvantage throughout the game. Using things like firebombs instead to make this easier kind of defeats the whole purpose of the run. It's of course your run and your rules so you can easily argue that "only use weapon type: talisman" doesn't technically exclude the use of offensive consumables, but there's a reason this category is usually just called "miracles only" as using other tools to do damage and avoid having to defeat certain bosses by relying on your talisman isn't really in the spirit of the run.

Take the Capra demon. The reason these runs are challenging is because they put up you against bosses in situations where you've only got a few casts to use, one slow miracle to rely on and very little room to play the strengths of miracle builds in the early game. The challenge lies in planning and preparing for the fight the best you possibly can and then relying on difficult to use spells in a situation they're not optimal for. Just walking in the room and tossing a few firebombs at Capra instead just defeats the whole point of the run, imo.

Also, you should definitely consider doing an SL1 all bosses run. It's still my favorite one and a crowning achievement for any Souls player. It takes a whole lot of personal skill and combines it with extensive knowledge of the game. Would recommend and watch a playthrough of, 10/10.

I'm no expert but I think it's because of two main reasons.

One, as I described earlier, these people see jews entirely as organized outsiders. Jews make up their own community that often isolates itself, follows its own rules, is apprehensive about the rest of the world and has its own interests / customs. Despite having lived in the US / EU for generations, they're still different from "the norm" in many ways that, say, Catholics are not. This status or standing as outsider is what makes it different from the examples you gave. It's not so much about what they do (the lobbying, the financial influence...) but about who does it. Groups like the NRA (pro gun) / Bloomberg (pro gun control) might do the same thing but they're seen as the product of ordinary American interests protecting the rights / lives of the normal masses - even when it's a position they don't agree with. They're seen people from within "the group" trying to accomplish a good (but perhaps misguided) purpose. Yet, in the eyes of anti-semitists, jews work in their own interest. When they lobby or exert influence, they're seen as doing it for illegitimate foreign purposes. They don't act in the interest of the people (or for acceptable American corporate reasons), but they do so to further their own external agenda and power. The jews are "They" with the capital T - a faceless yet powerful collective with a selfish external agenda that directly goes against the interests of "normal people" whereas the NRA are a product of the common folk.

Two, because antisemitists consider many things associated with Jews to be inherent to them as people. "The jewish people didn't do well in banking and finance because of the circumstances that allowed them to do so. They did so because they're all inherently greedy and selfish. Jews didn't play a part in the death of Jesus because that's what people did to unknown threats back then. They did so because they're vile and untrustworthy to their core. Jews don't stick to their customs and their own people because that's what many cultures do especially when they've faced a lot of backlash. They do so because they're antisocial scheming elitists. Jews don't still talk about the holocaust because it's a case of horrible genocide that happened only 70 years ago and is still survived by people alive today. They do so because they're filthy parasites leveraging tragedy and guilt to disenfranchise others."

I can go on but you get the point. The NRA and its supporters are just people you might disagree with or who might be acting out of selfish reasons. But Jews are seen as a race of outsiders that act exclusively in their own interest at the expense of the rest. A race with a whole lot of inherent undesirable attributes they all possess (hostile, elitist, controlling, scheming, antisocial, betraying, untrustworthy, greedy, selfish...) that's either a threat to others (as they're so powerful and often said to be "the chosen people") or a burden that will keep the rest down (as they're leeching parasites who have nothing to offer other than scheming and preying on others). These views and their history makes them a very convenient scapegoat and easy to hate all over the world, even today still.

Gaming / Re: Blizzard gets fucking destroyed
« on: November 03, 2018, 05:38:26 PM »
soooooo what happened
Blizzard said there would be a major Diablo announcement at Blizzcon. Everyone was expecting Diablo 4 since it's already been 6+ years since the last one. Instead, they announced a spinoff game that's only coming to mobile and seems to be little more than a Diablo themed reskin of a Chinese outsourced P2W game relying heavily on microtransactions. This caused a lot of backlash (both on social media and at the event itself where the crowd booed the people on stage and mocked them during the Q&A) which Blizzard responded to by deleting threads, trying to hide negative feedback and re-uploading the trailer several times to reset the horrible like to dislike ratio (I've seriously never seen any game video or trailer with that many dislikes).

People are disappointed but (GAMERS RISE UP) are unsurprisingly acting pretty toxic and being dickheads.

So what exactly is this company? You provide legal info to esporters?
No, the two are unrelated. It's not a company with a physical building or anything. It's a one-man company (me) registered at an address I own for tax and liability purposes. If I ever had to go in debt or loan money (which I'm not planning on ever doing), I wouldn't personally be liable with my own capital. I can also file expenses (such as PC, console or gaming stuff) in my accounting so that they're essentially deducted from my taxes (in addition to already paying lower taxes than I already am for the additional income).

What I would put under the company are on the one hand my legal counseling, and on the other my esports activities. I'll likely soon start giving legal advice for a British consultancy firm as an independent expert. The esports stuff is unrelated, but still a nice source of additional income. Bethesda frequently hires me to provide commentary / analysis at some of their Quake tournaments, which is really cool and pays well.
