He's done it. Federer takes the championship. :)

Holy fuck, that was amazing. Greatest fucking player of all time, no doubt about it.
What was the score, I missed it?
6-4, 3-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3.

Considering the mess the refugees are making out of Europe and nearly every terrorist attack is carried out by a Muslim, I say he's doing the right thing.
Just gonna point out that as a proper mainland European who regularly travels to different countries and has numerous friends and contacts living around the entire continent, literally the only people I have talked to who claim that refugees are making such a terrible mess out of Europe are right wing Americans typically using very biased Breitbart-tier articles to make an exaggerated point. I'm not going to say I'm entirely happy with the situation either or claim there's no issues at all, but this "Europe is being fucked by all the refugees they just let in" is a grave and misleading simplification.

Anyone watching? I'm not a big fan of CS:GO competitive because it's just so slow, campy and kind of boring to watch for a number of reasons, but I'm kind of sick and this is some decent distraction.

Ronin is fun as hell to play, but not a fan of the sword core. The fact that you continue taking tremendous amounts of damage from everything and that you can't execute titans while using it is pretty lame. A decent bulky titan will melt your puny 3 bars of health and then just execute you as you're wailing on them in sword core.

Ridiculous. People have the right to consume whatever the fuck they want. It's THEIR fucking body.
Now the government can tell me how much I'm allowed to drink? Fuck off.
The government is telling no one how much they can or cannot drink. The law applies to the providers (restaurants, bars) only. Nothing is stopping anyone from buying as many drinks as they want. Just because restaurants just can't offer cups with unlimited soda refills anymore doesn't mean you can't buy 3 different cups and chug as much soda as you want.
At worst, it's an infringement of human rights.

At best, it's as you described - a money grab. There's absolutely no reason to make someone buy 3 drinks instead of 1, or a large drink instead of a small one. This whole law is so backwards and retarded.

Stop worrying about the obesity "crisis". Let people be as fat as they want to be, and do nothing to hinder them. Having good health is not the government business, it's the individual's choice.
What human right is being infringed? The human right of not being able to get free and unlimited soda refills? Even if you look at it as part of the right to autonomy, claiming that your freedom to choose should somehow extend to you being able to buy a cup that allows you unlimited soda instead of just its original contents is really unfounded.

As for the rest, I guess those are just different views on society. I think it's perfectly reasonable to promote health and public safety, even though I don't know I agree with this particular instance.

Does anyone actually use the grenadier weapons? They seem pretty useless compared to the rest.

Also, two of my biggest complaints:

- Doing damage to titans does not give points.
- Weapon balance making it so that there's really no point in picking different weapons than a select few. For example, why pick any other LMG than the Devotion when it does more DPS, has a higher fire rate, is equally good in close quarter situations and has practically zero recoil? They did a good enough job making all weapons viable enough, but some being objectively better in pretty much every single way is a bit disappointing.

I would like to be. I regularly interact with programmers and computer scientists for my job. Part of our consortium consists of one of the foremost international r&d and programming centers and I can often hardly understand what they're even talking about. Had a workshop with them a few days ago and it's usually way above my head.

"I want to touch men's muscles"
"why can't women be more like men"
"I think Chad likes me"
"all too easy, got a date tomorrow"
"accidentally touched balls while having sex with Chad (no homo), but is it homo?"

This is how I predict this saga of threads to evolve.

Well I'm not a liberal, so that already answers your question.

Yes you are
But I'm neither liberal nor biased. I mean, we're all biased to a certain extent, but I've never let my opinions on politics get in the way of fair moderation. People get slapped when they take things too far. Not because they have a certain opinion.

The Flood / Re: What can I do to change?
« on: January 26, 2017, 12:48:22 PM »
I don't know what I could tell you that people (myself included) haven't said a dozen times before.

- It's the internet. Don't take it too seriously. Everyone messes with everyone. People take the piss out of one another all the time. Shrug it off, go along with it but don't take it too seriously either way. People fuck with each other for the food/music/games/movies they like, for their political beliefs, for the country/state they live and for dumb shit they said months ago. And it's all just banter. Except for when it comes to the weebs because they're legitimately messed up in the head. So don't get offended or upset over it on the one hand, and don't embrace it too much and make it a persona on the other.

- Don't overreact. If you feel like people mess with you more, it's because you give them the reaction they want. They want to get under your skin and you getting mad, leaving sites or making threads and comments showing that you're bothered by some trolling only makes you more of a target. I get shit for MLP stuff. Verb gets shit for his anti-natalism and views on things like mods. Weebs get shit for liking anime. Challenger gets shit for being an Iranian who wears turbans and doesn't like tennis. And so on and so forth. The reason it's slightly different with you is because of you how you react. Anyone of the others would've faced the same thing had they responded to trolling not by quipping back or taking it lightly, but instead went on to attack others, start a fiery defense of themselves, leave and come back, or make threads like this one. The reason people keep messing with you is because you give them pretty much exactly what they want. You're playing the victim card very often when this really happens to us all, but your reactions just make them do it more.

- Don't do what Velox already warned you about. You put out a controversial and unpopular statement, refuse to explain yourself, open yourself up to criticism and then respond posting memes and saying you "triggered" the other people. It's a forum. The point is to talk and debate. If you don't want that, then don't go posting things you know are controversial without backing anything up and then get upset when people call you out for being wrong or trying to spite them.

- Don't try to get in fights, bait or piss people off. This ties together with the above. You take things very seriously, are pretty easily frustrated and tend to take things personally. If you start dishing out, people here with hit back and it'll get to you a lot more than it gets to them. And us mods can't really help. We take action against serious harassment, doxing, really personal attacks and threats. We're not here to stop people from making clear jokes like "try euthanasia".

- Again, it's the internet. People poke fun and mess around. It's how it is and it's nothing bad or too serious. People really don't have a grudge against you, and if one or two do it's because the Skype and spoilers thing. You're fine.

I hope you'll try to take my advice this time. It's the best I can do.

Serious / Re: GOP eyeing bill to build the wall
« on: January 26, 2017, 12:18:08 PM »
The idea came from a conservative blogpost on how the GOP could get Mexico to pay for it. The fact that Paul Ryan has not acknowledged any specifics on the spending leads people to speculate that there is no plan for Mexico to recoup us the cost.

Isn't the idea to get it started with US funds and then recoup the costs from mexico via outgoing transactions (I forget the term you guys use for it) and the aid budget, if they won't pay up?
Yeah, it's retarded either way.

- Build wall using taxpayer money.
- Mexico, please pay for wall.
- Mexico: no.
- Well, uh, then we'll recoup the costs by, uh, retracting it from other things we do with you.

Completely forgetting the fact that they could've recouped those costs regardless of building the wall meaning that they ultimately still end up carrying the real costs.

Suprised he's in the final after being out injured, hopefully he wins since he'll probably retire soon.
It'll be a sad day for the world. I really hope he wins this so, if he does decide to retire, he can do it like this. Beating his old rival in a grand slam final.

The Flood / Australian Open (Go Fed go)
« on: January 26, 2017, 11:28:08 AM »
I was reluctant to discuss this here but Challenger requested this thread so I eventually gave in.

So the Australian Open tennis grand slam is coming to a close and we might be looking at an amazing final. Djokovic suffered a very surprising loss early on and Murray got Brexited out of the tournament by a German who wasn't even in the top 50 because that's what happens when you turn your back on the EU.

http://www.ausopen.com/index.html

Today, Federer beat his friend Wawrinka in a great 5 set game and secured himself a spot in the finals. We'll find out who he has to face tomorrow, as Nadal takes on Dimitrov, who got lucky earlier and somehow managed to cheat himself past Goffin (the Belgian player). In other words, we might see a revival of the great Federer v. Nadal rivalry that dominated tennis for 6 years. Exciting times ahead.

I'd say I agree, but Serious is rarely treated seriously anyway.
This. We try to keep some standard in Serious, but it's pretty clear that unless you're on a strict politics forum there's going to be banter and serious topics will be discussed in a non-serious way.

Still, I might be inclined to agree that allowing clear shitposting alts in Serious is stretching it. Maybe we should put it to a vote in Flood?

It's interesting how many iterations this story has gone through
You mean he didn't just do it right then and there with 6 young women in the middle of a restaurant while his mom and David Cameron were watching?
