Man, I love good customer protection. I think the issue is with my CPU so contacted Intel Europe asking about an RMA. Without even asking me for proof, requiring me to send in the cpu or do anything at all, they just shipped me a brand new $400 processor that'll be here in 2 days. A+ stuff Intel.

The Flood / Re: I've gone into business lads« on: November 27, 2018, 02:45:43 PM »As for Flee, I hope you can find a solution. Most of the time serious component competency issues are more costly to repair than replace, excluding Apple products, due to the eternal shortage of new replacement parts. I recently repaired a 2011 MacBook pro, and though I was able to restore it to working order, I had to inform the customer that the model was notorious for poor thermal management in the discrete graphics chip, resulting in logic board failure. If the system was ever put under a serious work load again the issue would only resurface, even with a 'factory refurbished' board. Luckily he had already found a new gaming machine and only planned to use the laptop for surfing the web, email, and Microsoft Word.Yeah, I'm not looking for anyone to fix it. Just a diagnosis of the problem is all I want. I'm suspecting a faulty CPU so will check for an RMA soon. 277

Congrats, I hope it goes well. I could use some computer repair services myself as I've been having some serious issues with mine.

You never specified what he does but it's a pretty general rule of thumb in highly qualified professions that you never go back down the wage ladder. If that's the case here, tell him to look for jobs in his home state while continuing to work where he is now and not going below his current wage.

I'd look into just general legal cohabitation. In many countries it has no romantic connotation whatsoever. It can be friends, family members or just about anyone with a close relationship. It's an agreement you make before the government to recognize that you are both living together and take responsibility for the residence. It means that you both have to agree to major decisions like selling or remodeling the house, carry the burden of managing the household (as in you both have to carry the costs of stuff) and are held jointly liable for stuff relating to the home (meaning that you both can be turned to to fulfill debts and such relating to the house). That might be a better solution but I don't know the details in Sweden.
Also, Sambo doesn't give you any inheritance rights to the house, so I think you're shit out of luck there. 281

Pray to the Holy Trinity of the European Parliament, European Commission and European Council, and say grace to the Holy Father of the Council of Europe. 3. Every night before bed, recite the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and the first sections of the Treaty on the (Functioning of) the European Union. Only that way shall justice prevail, my friend. 283

OH NO NO NO
>31% of Brits think May is the right person for the job >54% of Brits support Remain >55% of Brits support a new Referendum (just 35% oppose this) >Just 14% of Brits think the proposed Brexit plan is the best solution This is going swimmingly. Just do the right thing and ditch the Brexit already. 284
Serious / Re: Just fuck my Brexit up« on: November 16, 2018, 02:32:40 AM »
Who would've thought that boiling an incredibly complex issue down to a simple yes/no question decided by millions of woefully uneducated and uninformed people subjected to a long campaign of fake news, misinformation, blatant lies and meddling by populists set on riling up the masses against a convenient scapegoat could ever backfire? It's not as if the people who voted remain all wanted the exact same and very concrete thing, while the leavers were a basket case of a dozen different views ranging from an immediate and extreme Brexit to the closest possible allegiance without technically being in the EU. No matter what the final Brexit deal will look like, it's never going to have more than the support of a small % of people. The remainers will of course disagree with it all while half of Brexiters will denounce it as being too hard / soft and not what was promised.
I mean STRONG AND STABLE. MAKE ENGLAND GREAT AGAIN. 285

Gaming / Re: Building a second PC« on: November 14, 2018, 02:44:27 AM »Lol, I can see why you'd say that but this isn't even a loophole. It's just how sales tax is intended to work. Everyone in the chain of making a product or providing a service passes it on to the next one in line until it reaches the actual point of sale where it's the consumer who pays the tax. When I give legal counsel or am asked to cast an event or tournament, it's the person or company hiring me that pays the tax as I'm supposed to include it in my fee. It's simply how it's supposed to work, no loopholes or sneaky tricks whatsoever. I'm only exempt from the VAT on things I buy for the company (and can justify too, like a computer to stream or office supplies). Everything else (99% of what I buy) I just pay full tax like anyone else. That's extraordinarily high comparatively. Our sales tax is only 6.5%.Perhaps, but it's a tax I'm happy to pay. Sure, it's pretty high but I'm fine contributing my part. It translates into high quality healthcare and education being accessible to all, great public transportation, mandatory paid holidays and benefits, good social care, housing and financial assistance for everyone in case of illness, maternity/paternity leave and stuff like that. It could probably be lowered a bit but I'm more than happy paying it. 293

He can say he doesn't care about financial stability but he's setting himself up for failure big time that way.i mean, i guess you're not wrong, in the sense that we could all be more generally responsible with our money, but i just think there's a time and place to be dropping wisdom like thatwhy is it not a good idea to wait until you have money to buy somethingOf course it's a good idea to wait until you're able to afford something, but whether or not you should actually buy it as soon as you're able to depends a lot on what it is and how much money you have. It tends to be a pretty good idea to build up a reserve and have money on hand for whatever might come your way as to invest, get interest, build credit, put it towards big long term projects like property, and to avoid having to go in debt, defaulting payments, hurting your credit score or just screwing yourself in any way. It's perfectly fine to wait and save up for big(ger) purchases, but if you can't afford to just go out and drop as small of an amount as $60 on something you want, then chances are you're probably not in a situation where you should do just that the moment you've got some cash again. 295

And $60 is a reasonably small amount of money by most general standards. In terms of video games it's of course not that little as it's the full price of a brand new game, but I'd stay it's still well within the range of what you ideally should be able to spend on luxury / entertainment at a given time. If you don't have that amount of discretionary spending available between paychecks, then you might want to budget things a bit differently or spend that money elsewhere. 296

I have $0 right now because I already spent my last paycheck on bills/rent/fun/games, and when I get my next paycheck I'll likewise spend it on bills/rent/fun/games. I don't always have money on hand lol, do you? It's not that you have to pay for it, it's that you have to wait before you're able to pay for it. Unless that's not the case and I'm reading too much into it, but saying pointing out that you'll be waiting on your paycheck before buying a game you could otherwise just get right now does give that impression. You do you of course, but it seems a bit strange from a personal finance perspective.Might not be the best idea to grab a brand new game if you have to wait to get paid until you can get it.Huh? 298

Things like healthcare and social insurance aren't too good there. Even with a job, I wouldn't drop $60 on a video game the moment I get some cash again after being completely broke for a while. If you can't afford to pay for a game that costs 60 dollars once you get your paycheck plus pay all your bills and set aside some for savings then you're barely making a salary. I'd be more on your side if he was working in some poor country or if he was out on the street scrapping things to make money, but he has a normal job.Do elaborateMight not be the best idea to grab a brand new game if you have to wait to get paid until you can get it.Kinda stupid thing to say 299
