Referenda are mistakes.
I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with referenda. They just have to be: - purely advisory (instead of considered legally binding) - supported by proper and more neutral campaigns pushing a more factual approach (as opposed to slandering tabloid tier media reports and blatant lies / bullshit promises) - on specific issues (and not on incredibly complex and multi-faceted issues that are presented as the most basic yes/no question).

Stay away from Turtle Beaches and Tritton. Go for Astro if you want something high-quality. I have the A50's but I'd suggest the A40's if you don't mind the wires. I tend to play far away from my TV so the wireless is nice, but the battery isn't quite as long as I'd like so it ends up having to be wired anyway.
Another good thing about Astro is that they have an excellent customer service program, with lots of helpful threads on their forums.
As I said above, I'm only looking for a basic headset with decent enough quality - thanks for the recommendation though.

I've never seriously played a game where people are this salty. Some guy was playing Bastion on CTF in his base when his team was 1 point down. I kill him but get taken out myself by two others. He then proceeds to talk about how shitty this community is because people suicide for single kills and gets butthurt when people start calling him out on his own decision to play Bastion in their base when his team is already behind. Dude starts insulting people and mocking their rank (surprising since he was only average himself). Next game he's on my team and decides to get back at me by picking Tracer and then doing the sit emote along with committing suicide the entire game. I really don't think I've ever seen a more pathetic / salty player in this game.
He has now sent me a friend request which I haven't accepted yet. No doubt it's going to be all nice things he has to say. Incredible how sad some people can be, over a random Arcade game nonetheless.

Look into the Sennheisers. They're pretty affordable at this point (around $100) and are pretty damn great.
The things he was referring to are basically this. It's a small microphone that you can attach to any headphones with magnets. It allows people who already have audiophile grade headphones from the likes of Grados, AKG, Sennheiser, Audio Technica and such to just use their music headphones for gaming too by just slapping on a microphone costing less than $50.

There's not much left to be said.
Yes, it's important to trust supposed victims in the sense that their claims must be taken seriously and treated with due respect. No, this does not violate the presumption of innocence when it does not replace actual evidence. Yes, it is possible to support both sides during this process. And yes, this can be potentially defamatory which is why I disagree with the (typically American) approach of publicizing these things in the earliest stages of the investigation.
I've been in courts and prisons and have seen how much of a mess this can be. More often than not, it's an absolute hell to prove. If the victim waits too long, questions arise about the motives and much of the possible evidence has likely disappeared at that point. And even if the victim doesn't wait, it's still hard to prove as the other party can easily pose that the sex was consensual in absence of hard evidence of violence or lack of consent, making it a simple "he said she said" situation.
Take claims seriously and investigate appropriately, but don't convict based on an accusation alone. And exercise diligence with the information disclosed to the public during an ongoing investigation.
