I'd really appreciate it if the horrendous matchmaking in the game could stop putting me in lobbies filled with people who have played hundreds to thousands of more hours than I have and are in the 4000 to top 500 comp range. That and all these smurfs take a lot of the fun out of this game.
Also, double exp weekend. 2173

When the EU is gonna have to foot the bill when Corbyn inevitably turns the UK into Greece 2.0.It was never about Corbyn winning for the EU. It's all about May losing. Some think this will be good for the EU because: - May gambled and lost a lot of the perceived support for her hard Brexit - Brexit minister has already said the UK might have to reconsider things like leaving the single market (and probably rejecting the supremacy of the European Court of Justice) - a more divided Britain makes it weaker in the negotiations and might give the EU more leverage - this will likely delay things even more, adding potentially more time pressure on the UK to get a deal before the deadline On the other side, it'll just complicate things and might make negotiations harder or more likely to fail. 2174
Serious / Re: UK election thread: exit polls predict losses for Tories and a hung parliament« on: June 08, 2017, 07:36:51 PM »How so? Much of this election was about May renewing and solidifying her mandate for her vision of Brexit. The less power she has, the less likely it is the UK gets to continue down this path and demand the hardest possible Brexit or no deal at all. There's other ways to look at it too, but it seems like the election backfiring on May is making the EU quite happy.Gotta wait for the actual results rather than the exit polls, but this is looking great.A hung parliament is literally the worst possible outcome for both the EU and Britain. 2175

It's honestly quite sad how (particularly American) politics have seemed to evolve from that. I wouldn't have voted for McCain, but seeing that kind of stuff shows how much better as a man and more capable he is than the trash that is Trump and the current state of your politics.

Also, my brother told me that even in 2014 and 2015 they didn't even poll small events like these. An example is their Valentine's event which is pretty similar to this. So unless you're a purist who wants every little thing first polled (which the community said it didn't want), the whole polling argument is really shoddy.

A video like this probably isn't even worth mentioning when it comes to the content he gets paid to put out.Sure, but that doesn't really change my point. Dude makes a very decent living of making these videos. He does it professionally, full time and has a large following. He's not some random nobody with an hour to spare on the weekend. Given that, I'd hold him to a higher standard and expect at least a better attempt at painting the full picture here. This whole video just screams "some of my anti-SJW / alt-right / whatever fans play runescape and alerted me about SJW shit going on so I'd better put together a video to support that narrative without knowing the entire and still developing story". And to me, that's the kind of stuff that makes me not want to watch these people at all. It's basically the reverse of leftists making videos about hate crimes before it's revealed they're actually staged by the "victim", which is then followed by many right-wing people attacking them for only seeing what they want to see without knowing all the facts. I just think it's a pretty shitty and often counter-productive attitude. Quote That very same link shows polls for both last year and this year.Gameplay, features and balance polls, yes. Not event polls, which is what this Pride thing is about. If you look at the link, they polled numerous events in 2015, 2014 and 2013. This was followed by the community complaining about these polls being pointless and ruining the surprise. Jagex listened and didn't poll for a single event in 2016 and 2017. Pride is just another small event that lets players wear a purely cosmetic rainbow scarf. That's it. Compare that to other polls in 2017, which talk about things like overhauling the visuals of the entire game and adding completely new areas, challenge modes and features, and it's pretty clear where this falls short. You can easily argue that they should still poll this, but suggesting that Jagex just decided not to poll this one specific thing for their agenda just isn't really true. They haven't polled any event in 2 years and only ask for player input on more significant changes after the community itsellf complained about being polled about events. As for the rest, I'm really not condoning what Jagex is doing. Just voicing some criticism of what I think are inaccuracies in this video and others like it. I don't play Runescape anymore and only care about it with a passing interest (I asked my brother about the polling stuff, he's still into the game). Jagex is dealing with this terribly, but I think the truth is more neutral than what the video shows. Bed time for me now. 2184

He made the video off the information he was given at the timeSo he made a video on a topic he really doesn't know much about and based it on incomplete and one-sided information likely given to him by people part of one camp of the "conflict" as the situation was still emerging. That doesn't really make this any better and only lowers my opinion of him further, especially considering people apparently give this guy 3k a month to put out this kind of stuff as a full time job. Now I'm just curious to see if he actually owns up this and put in a disclaimer, update or annotations to clarify and portray Jagex in an honest light. That'd at least be somewhat admirable. Quote "We're not going to poll this update like we do everything else because we know we're right"They apparently stopped polling events 2 years ago because the community itself complained it was pointless to poll every one of them and that it ruined the surprise factor. I'm not even talking about the actual event or defending it. Seems like poor judgment on the developer's part. Just again pointing out some of the gripes I have with these kinds of videos and Youtubers. I feel like they're rarely honest nor paint a very truthful and complete picture. 2187

Their bans have all been reviewed according to the moderation policy and most have since been unbanned, save for those who actually posted things like telling gay people to kill themselves. This has been coming for a while. I've been legitimately worried about people in the UK ever since the Brexit vote. Sure managed to stick it to the nasty bureaucrats in Brussels, but now the UK is set to withdraw from the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, which is one of the most extensive human rights treaties in the world, along with an entire acquis of legislation protecting the rights and interests of consumers and citizens from state and corporate overreach in numerous freedoms (think net neutrality, ISP monitoring, roaming). Then there's also the jurisprudence of the European Court of Justice which, among others, very recently passed judgement in several cases to safeguard your online freedoms further. Just look at the UK's recent adoption of its renewed Snooper's Charter and backdoor requirements for encrypted services (which would no longer stand under the EU). May's reluctance to actually man up and take a stand against Donald Trump, as the rest of the developed world has started doing, is a pretty clear sign that she's willing to settle for a lot of what Trump is doing to the US in the hopes of securing a somewhat favorable trade deal once the country leaves the EU.
There's already been much talk about the UK becoming a corporate safe haven at the expense of its people to maintain its economy after Brexit, and this is absolutely no different. Leaving the EU has been described by many lawyers as posing the very real threat of a human rights crisis in the UK, and ties along nicely to May's lingering dream of taking the UK out of the European Convention on Human Rights, being the highest protector of human rights in Europe. The fact that she only very recently shelved her plans to make this a central part of her 2020 election campaign because even she realizes how much it would hurt her next week only illustrates this further. Brexit is Brexit, and it is going to be bad, but please don't give in to shit like this. |
