I think two of them are players from Unreal Tournament
Which ones? It's not uncommon for good Quake players to have played UT and other arena shooters as well.
Oh damn seems that they didn't make it, Vo0 the painkiller champion did dough
Yeah, Vo0 is performing pretty well in Quake Champions. He used to be a Quake 2 pro before going to Painkiller, so it's not surprising.
Did the australian player make it in?
Yep, Dandaking played in the US qualifiers at 300 ping and made it to the Regionals this weekend. Also, Australia is sending 4 people to the BYOC tournament. It's basically a mini-tournament held at the beginning of Quakecon where anyone who signs up and brings their own PC can participate at a small LAN. The top 8 there still make it into the main tournament. I'm hoping that some of the top European players that don't qualify in the regionals risk it and go play in the BYOC as well. After all, Australia really isn't all that good. Fraze is top tier, Camma and Python are decent too, but that's about it.

The Regionals should be pretty damn great though. Only downside is the lack of balance between Europe and US. There's a lot more good players in Europe than there are in the US, yet both are limited to supplying 12 players each.

Among the top European players, we now have:
Cypher, Cooller, Evil, Demon, Xron, Noctis, Clawz, Nitrino, Voo, Agent, Tox, Fazz, Strenx, Avek, Killsen, Stermy and Base. That's 17 top tier players for 12 slots. 5 of the best players in the world will not be able to attend.

Among the top US players, there are:
Rapha, Dahang, Chance and id. That's 4 (5, if we're going to be very generous and count Griffin) top tier players for 12 slots. 8 subpar players that wouldn't stand the slighest chance against the abovementioned 5 Europeans that will be bumped from the list will still be able to attend and have zero odds of making it out of the first round or two.

And then, the final 8 players will be entered through the BYOC (bring your own computer) mini-tournament held at Quakecon itself. Since this is held in the US right before the main tournament starts, this is also going to be filled with lower tier American players that probably wouldn't even have made it through the very first qualifiers from back in June. Unless some players gamble and put up their own money just to try and qualify here, this is also a pretty disappointing group of contestants.

With the way the qualifiers are now laid out, we're going to see low tier US players qualify that would get absolutely destroyed by top EU players that can't qualify because of player count limits. Damn shame, especially considering that the BYOC last minute qualifications are also going to be US dominated since they're held in Texas itself. Still hype, but it does suck how they laid it out. Instead of having, say, the best 24 players in the world + 8 outliers compete, we're now probably only going to see like 16 of the top players. Bit of a shame, but hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes.

Brackets for the regionals this weekend have been revealed. The top 12 players from each continent qualify for the Quakecon finals in a few weeks. Pretty hype stuff.

Quakecon 2017 and the revival of the greatest competitive video game series in history.
League is becoming less shit?
>moba

Ew.
I've never played one, but I'm also not in denial about League's relevancy and importance as a competitive gaming landmark.
Its relevancy is pretty limited to "one of the first games that poured millions into advertising and forcing a competitive scene", but no one can deny that it's pretty damn popular.

How few people are taking the tournament seriously is one of the dumbest things about this arc. Fucking knock off the girl saiyans already. And yeah, I know, Goku just wants to fight stronger people and whatnot, but it's still lame as shit.

Could one reason for the UK's insane gun restrictions be due to the government not wanting the people to have a good chance of a successful rebellion?
Doubtful. They're caused by the lack of gun culture in most of Europe as well as pretty massive public support of stricter gun control laws.

Soon. I'll try to make some more time for it and post in the Discord again. Just been a really hectic few weeks at work. The H2020 deadlines are coming up soon and I'm working on my PhD proposal, so I haven't even touched my PC in a while.

i'm pretty sure he can enter a bar, he just can't order anything alcoholic

or that's how it should work
Depends.
Smoking bar = he can't enter legally at all
Non smoking restaurant type "bar" he can enter and sit at a table but not the bar itself.

Key word is legally.
Damn, American drinking laws are stupid.

They're not really the same though. Information is data formatted in a way that gives value or meaning.

"The implication is that even in the most extreme scenario that we were able to identify … we expect only a 0.13-percent ($8.4 million out of $6.2 billion) increase in health care spending,” Rand's authors concluded."

So much for the money argument.

Serious / Re: UK Porn restrictions to start in 2018

The most likely solution is that you will need to verify your age and identity by giving out credit card details to the site
For Pornhub there are times when I click on a video I get spammed with those fake game bait and switch links. I'm not saying Pornhub is a dangerous site to have your credit card info on, but I wouldn't trust any site which have bait and switch ads. Do to those types of ads I think it's a bad idea to have your information like that on. The UK government should just leave it to the "check the box" for your age rather than forcing people to post their information on a site which could be a trap.
It is an ISP block, so you will provide your credit card info only to your ISP. So, for example, you trying to access the age restricted site, your provider pops up the page "You are trying to access age restricted site" with field where you are entering your credit card number, then ISP checks if your credit card number is in bank database. If it is there, you'll be then redirected to the page you need, otherwise it pops up an error.
I don't think that's true at all. Details are currently not yet final, but it's the sites themselves that require the verification.
I don't think that it will be carried by sites themselves, at least it shouldn't, because it is hard to make every site who hosts something age restricted implement block, plus owners of sites will probably be against such kind of block, plus in this case sites will really have access to your credit card info, which is dumb.
"The age-check requirement applies to any website or other online platform that provides pornography "on a commercial basis" to people in the UK. It allows a regulator to fine any business that refuses to comply and to ask third-party payment services to withdraw support. The watchdog will also be able to force internet providers to block access to non-compliant services."

Basically, commercial porn sites must have proper age verification tools for anyone trying to connect from the UK. If they don't, they can first be fined and then blocked completely in the UK by British ISPs. So it's not the ISPs who will verify the identity.

Highly flawed law.

So the UK government expects people to just give random porn sites their credit card details? Yeah that sounds safe.
Not final yet, but it's probably the most realistic option.
