Bloody bastards make it look so easy
I can probably teach you some stuff. I beat several of these people in FFA and TDM a few weeks ago. Wouldn't stand a chance now, but still. :p

the aussie guy competing in this with 300 ping is my hero
He already qualified mate. Next up is the big LAN tournament, so he's going to travel to the US to participate in person. Let's hope he's just as good then.

Honestly there's no one here I would mind meeting in person. Obviously there are users I get along with better than others but for the most part y'all are alright.
Flee would probably intimidate me to the point of uncomfortability though, motivated people scare me.
The sexual tension between me and verb would be palpable.
What makes you think I'm so motivated? I actually struggle with that more than I'd like.

That's a pretty bold claim. Do you have anything to substantiate it?

Pretty shitty episode. 17 did awesome but the whole transformation part was cringe and very hard to sit through. Fucking anime man, I wish it didn't have to suck so much.
That was done on purpose...because you know that's the joke. It was supposed to be cringey since the point was to subvert magical girl animes.
Yeah, I get that it's the joke, but ironically making bad scenes still only results in bad scenes. And it's not just that. It's no one taking stuff seriously too. 17 attacking them during the transformation was one of the best things of the episode, and it was quickly done away with.

I think it's a solution that both overestimates the effectiveness of armed teachers in these situations and underestimates the potential risks that come with it. The case in favor of their effectiveness seems pretty flimsy, and I imagine that the costs and logistics are pretty prohibitive, not to even touch upon the risks of a teacher misusing it or a student getting his hands on the gun.

What about it?

Damn, really interesting development. The best American team just dropped their weakest player just before the tournament and took on Winz, a European and one of the best TDM players ever. They have a really strong team now.
Team Liquid, that's kind of rude tbh, unless the "weakest" player decided on that himself in the first place.
No clue. I heard some people in chat say he left to focus on CS:GO (his main game) instead, but not sure if that's true. AZK didn't mention it on his twitter. Still, it's good for Liquid. Winz is an amazing player, probably top 5 TDM / CTF players in the world.

Alliance is out, so that's almost closed the door to Spartie qualifying. He has to travel to Qcon on his own expenses now if he still wants a shot at competing, which is very unlikely. Too bad, but Defendants is also a great team.
And Myztro beat Miasma. Not the outcome I was hoping for, but still a good game and great team.

The US teams are in an hour or two. Most of them are pretty much trash though. On Time is decent with Brick, Effortless, Whaz and Psygib. Good team players with a history of participating in a number of big tournaments. Team Johnson has Necro and Carnage, both of which are decent too, but not much other than that. The only absolute top tier team the US has is Team Liquid. Rapha, Dahang, id and AZK. Rapha is brilliant, easily top 3 Quake players in the world. Great tactician and all round wonderful player who won last year's Quakecon in Duel. Dahang is another very solid dueler who made it to the semis several times before and id is also a pretty legendary name in the community. AZK is slightly less known, but still a very solid player. If any US team is going to really challenge the Europeans, it's going to be this one. Somewhat related, but "miasma" is actually one of my favorite English words. Sounds pretty good.

The remaining teams that are facing each other for the final 2 spots are:
Miasma: DDK, Demon, Juvenile, Lithz. DDK is one of the most famous Quake personalities because he became one of the biggest esport commentators there are and hosted big tournaments like Dreamhack CS:GO. Demon is another big name pro who attended Quakecon duel several times before. He's also Belgian, which is the main reason I'm rooting for this team, as them winning gives him another shot to qualify for Duel. The other two are pretty new names that played team modes in older Quakes.
Myztro: Garpy, Hell, Vo0, Hypno. Good team with a few known players. Garpy and Vo0 both used to be sub-top 1v1 players, but only barely failed to qualify yesterday. Especially Vo0 could really prove to be an upset at Quakecon, so if they qualify as a team they both still have another chance for the duel mode. Hypno and Hell are both good team players.
Defendants: Av3k, Deus, 2GD, Krysa. One of the teams with the least pro players on it. Av3k is their star player who also managed to qualify for the Duel section. 2GD is a well known caster like DDK. The other two are sub-top but decent enough team players.
Alliance: Spartie, Strenx, Busdriver, Syndrom. Another big team. Spartie and Strenx are famous duelers. Strenx is already set for Quakecon, but Spartie failed to qualify and might be given another lifeline through the team mode. Busdriver and Syndrom are both well known players, but not among the very best.
I hope Alliance takes it in their game. For the other game, I'm tied between the one with the Belgian and the one with (who I think are) the better players. Should be interesting nevertheless and I'm already pleased with the two teams that qualified so far.

EU Teams qualified for Quakecon Sacrifice:
2z: Clawz, Latrommi, Silencep, Xron.
Amazing team. Clawz and Xron also qualified for the Duel section of the tournament and are great individual players. Latrommi and Silencep don't play solo modes but are proper legends in Team Deathmatch and CTF gamemodes. Legitimately an all-star team with nothing but top names covering all playstyles.
NoToFast: Fazz, Noctis, Stermy and Toxic.
Another top team. All great individual players that are some of the biggest names in the 1v1 Duel mode. Fazz and Noctis already qualified for the Duel section of the tournament. I'm really happy to see them qualify, because neither Stermy or Tox managed to qualify for Duel so far. The fact that they will now be attending Quakecon anyways gives those two top players another lifeline of competing in the BYOC section and still qualifying for the big tournament at Quakecon itself. This could be great.

This is fucking hilarious. I would post the link, but I'm not sure if it's a bannable offense.
If there's no actual porn on the site, it's fine for me.

Wait what, Spiderman doesn't always generate the web? What is this shit
Welcome to......2013?
Then what does he do instead? Does he have a machine that makes fake webs? Because that'd be the dumbest shit.
yyyyyep
it's as dumb as you think, too, because there are plenty of conflicts that involve him losing/breaking the damn things
Daily reminder that the Tobey Maguire movies are the only acceptable canon lore.
that is how i choose to view it as well
I legit had no idea. That's fucking lame. Also, why does Spiderman keep changing actors? I don't care much about comic books or superhero movies, so I haven't seen any of the movies that came after Maguire.

Did Evil lose the loser rounds as well? Or did he not make it to begin with?
He lost the loser rounds too. As I said, the seeds have been terrible. Evil only played in the last of 4 qualifiers and got into the Regionals right away. But then, it was revealed that seeds were based on time of qualification, not rank as was expected. This means that Evil came up against Cooller (top 3 players in the world and winner of the last big LAN) in the very first round and then against Strenx (another one of the absolute best) in the first round of the loser brackets. It'd be like having Federer, Nadal and Djokovic all in the same starting group with the loser going out. Such a shame, because other sections of the bracket then had only sub top players.

So Wichtl and Cooller both qualified, which is great, but Tox lost. Big shame, because the bad brackets now prevent 2 of the very best players (Tox and Evil) from playing in the finals. Luckily, Tox still has the team games coming up tomorrow so that he might still qualify like that and then ends up winning in the BYOC for a last minute qualification. But as for Evil... We're going to need to see a sponsor or something fund his trip to gamble for another spot in the finals.
Overall though, pretty happy with the EU qualifiers. Shame about those players, but there's still hope and the matches today were already top tier.

We should have are(yes) very own Qua7econ
You want us all to get destroyed by Flee?
If anyone manages to take a single round off of me, we'll count that as my loss. 3 rounds a game, best out of 3 a match. That's just one out of 6 rounds someone else has to win.

European players who qualified for the finals so far:
Xron Cypher Av3k Killsen Clawz Fazz Agent Noctis Strenx
Those who can and hopefully will still qualify:
Cooller Toxiq Wichtl
Unfortunately, due to the crappy seeding and unbalanced division of qualifiers, these top players have not qualified:
Evil (saddest news of the day) Base Stermy Nitrino
I'm really hoping some of the ones who didn't qualify still end up taking the gamble and attending the BYOC to still qualify. Especially Evil still has a good chance.

Gotta love the other stuff though. The tournament set-up (stage and stuff) already looks better for a qualification round than it did for the Quakecon finals last year.
