I don't see why this is a big deal either. Bush pulled out several halfassed salutes while holding a dog at the same time and no one gave a shit. Then again, he isn't a Kenyan muslim communist, so he's got that going for him.

Standing is a form of respect.
It's impossible to force a person to have respect for something. All you're doing is forcing people into feigning respect while simultaneously turning them away from whatever it is you're trying to get them to praise. Respect is earned, not demanded or imposed. If you want people to respect your military or country or whatever it is you feel is so important, the only way to do it is by actually making it worthwhile of respect. Something that right now, it very much arguably is not.
I disagree.
And the impeccable logic behind how forcing kids to stand up and mindlessly repeat a bunch words at the risk of otherwise being punished suddenly makes them full of respect of something is...? All you're doing is antagonizing people.
"How dare you not think living in America is the greatest thing ever? Let's punish you repeatedly so that all your doubts and bad feelings will magically transform into respect!" A student like that is like a dog. If a dog is afraid of people, you don't change that by beating him until he suddenly changes his mind and goes "actually, people are pretty great. I mean, being punished and treated like shit by them has definitely made me see them in a different light and respect what they stand for."
How is this not obvious?
Where did I say you have to say it?
Just stand and stop acting like an edgy teenager.
Okay, replace "saying a bunch of words" with "standing up". My point still stands just the same. You are not making anyone have more respect for you, your institution or your ideals by forcing them to do something. If anything, you're making them have even less respect for you because instead of convincing them of the importance of it all and why exactly it is you deserve their respect, you're just punishing them until they do what you want. It simply doesn't work.

Hearing about propositions like this makes my heart overflow with patriotic pride. Anyone else feeling an incredibly loud and obnoxious USA USA USA chant coming on? Because I sure do! Spoiler Fucking morons trying to push stuff like this, of course the students are in the right here.

Intermediate? Government definitely needs to stay out of certain (personal) affairs, but there's a lot more for it to do than just enforcing laws and handling the military.
Besides, pretty sure that the terms big and small government refer to the competences of any government in general, not the distinction between federal and state.

Yes, although it comes with a side effect for me: apathy. The more I learn about politics and hear about the bickering of politicians, the less I start to care.

You know, Bleed isn't as bad as people think. It's pretty deadly if used correctly. Really surprises people when I Bleed them with my Barbed Club and they lose a huge chunk of their health + stamina.
I don't think I've ever been bled in DS2 though. Unless you've designed your build around bleed, you have to get so many hits in so fast that spamming and constant attacks are the only way. And spamming just so happens to make for easy parries for me.

If he was talking during the game, he should've been warned and later asked to leave. Those people should've contacted security to deal with it, this was no excuse to start a fight. No surprise this happened during the US Open though.

The old man and woman are right. I'd be pissed too if someone was talking during a game.
Why? You watch the game, not listen to it. If someone does even speak over the intercom you never hear it because it is overshadowed by all the cheering.
Something tells me you've never been to a good tennis match.

I have an interest in design. Not game mechanics.
Just kidding man, no worries. I don't care enough to discuss this kind of stuff, but maybe someone else on here will.

Surprisingly enough, neither of them are. Who would've thought, right?

> Implying Keyboard is good for 3rd person games. Lol no.
KB+M is superior for everything except flying/driving games, where a joystick/wheel is best.
Depends on the person. For me, keyboard and Mouse is for flying, strategy, and some FPSs
Everything else I enjoy on controller better, as well as most FPSs. Halo on Xbox feels much better than Halo on PC to me.
I don't think you understand. The controller is not better for objective reason, mostly because things like the analog sticks are not as accurate as a mouse.
But analog sticks do offer a full 360 range of motion, which can also make platformers or adventure games better with it.

It actually doesn't have much to do with copyright laws, as mentioned above.
The main purpose of region locks is to regulate what content is shown where at what times. As you all know, international release dates of movies and games can differ quite a bit. As a film producer, the last thing you want is your next big movie being available on DVD weeks before it hits theaters in some parts of the world. By using region codes, you can guarantee that the European release of a game or movie doesn't massively flop because everyone there already bought it online both cheaper and earlier than the intended release date.
A second reason is to regulate content. Certain themes are (or were) very sensitive in certain parts of the world, which is why especially some years ago, a lot of movies didn't just have a "theatrical" and "director's cut" version, but had the movie altered for North-American, European, Indian, East-Asian and South-American markets, each with their own version.
Then there's also hardware differences. I'm not going to get all technical here, but there are differences in television and playback hardware. Think of PAL, NSTC and SECAM, for example. Different TV's with different Hz standards using different DVD players which read discs somewhat differently. Or simply put, the signals are different and thus DVD's were made and optimized with these differences in mind.
And finally, there is the aspect of copyright. This ties in with the different types of content mentioned above. International copyright law is pretty shitty business and the problem here is that film producers can't or couldn't always get the permission to use copyrighted materials in certain countries or parts of the world. By distributing different versions of the movie (or simply not releasing it on a certain extension at all), this could be circumvented.
Due to the importance of the internet and the shift to fully digital materials these days however, this is all becoming more and more obsolete and less and less prevalent.
I know my movie stuff, bitches.

>implying kids learning strong morality and to love one another isn't for the best.
>implying they need to be told lies and be made to believe in fairy tales is necessary to achieve that
I'm not implying or saying that at all. But hey, say what you want.
Did you not just imply that it would be better to teach children the teachings of the bible rather than subjects like science?

I'm not American. People don't believe in Santa here.

I don't particularly see a reason why the government should regulate at what age its citizens can drink alcohol
I feel that imposing reasonable limits on the access young and hormonal teens at the height of their puberty have to a substance that will not only turn them loud and obnoxious and will render their already poor judgment, reasoning skills and sense of responsibility even worse than normal, but has also been proven to have nefarious effects on the development of a young and not yet fully formed brain, is a pretty good reason to regulate a drinking age.
It's pretty demonstrable that allowing teenagers to learn about alcohol at a younger age and understand its effects does significantly more to prevent issues involving intoxication. It's kind of like what happens when you turn 21 and alcohol loses the excitement; it's just a drink that can mess you up if you let it. We mythologize alcohol and put it on such a high pedestal that the only logical expectation is for kids to be absolutely irresponsible with it as soon as they get access.
Just so you know, the drinking age for light beers is 16 where I live, so I'm not part of the people advocating the absolutely retarded age 21 limit. Kids need to be educated about alcohol and have a chance to be introduced to it at a responsible age. But you just can't abolish any age limits and expect kids not to abuse alcohol. Children in their puberty aren't exactly known for their responsible behavior and logical thinking when it comes to stuff like this, so certain barriers are definitely necessary.

Exactly: KIDS
would they rather: >learn chemistry >read
pick one.
Exactly: KIDS would they rather >eat nothing but junk food >eat healthy >go to school and learn >stay home and play video games pick one of each. You really are making an impressively bad argument here. They're children. Non-adults that have no sense of responsibility. They lack the ability to plan ahead or do what's best for themselves. It's why the evil grownups make the decisions and sometimes force the child to do what's best even when it doesn't realize it, like not eating an entire bag of candy for breakfast or taking fairy tales for truth rather than actually learning something in school.

I abuse the fuck out of this sword.
What's so good about it? I also love how Oroboro is making remarks about other builds when pretty much all he ever uses are the cheapest and most broken things in the game. That aside, I do love owobowo.
