Trouble brewing: AB InBev accused of keeping cheap beer from BelgiansEU investigation finds brewer may have deliberately prevented cheaper imports from reaching consumers in Belgium It is an announcement that could hardly be better designed to get the blood of the average Belgian boiling.
The European commission has said drinkers in the country have probably been paying over the odds for their favourite beers for years.
AB InBev, the world’s biggest brewing company, has been accused by Brussels of charging less for its popular Jupiler and Leffe beers in France and the Netherlands than in Belgium, and using its dominant position in the Belgian market to get away with it.
Such news would undoubtedly prove a blow to drinkers in any country. For Belgians, however, where beer is one of the few unifying cultural artefacts of its multilingual society, the ruling is particularly galling.
Margrethe Vestager, the commissioner in charge of competition policy, said in a statement on Thursday: “Belgian consumers may have had to pay more for their favourite beers.
“Our preliminary finding is that AB InBev may have deliberately prevented cheaper beer imports out of France and the Netherlands from reaching consumers in Belgium. Such practices would breach EU competition rules, because they deny consumers the benefits of the EU single market – choice and lower prices.”
After a year-long investigation, the commission said it believed there was evidence that AB InBev had been pursuing “a deliberate strategy” for at least eight years to prevent supermarkets and wholesalers from buying Jupiler and Leffe at lower prices in the Netherlands and France and importing them into Belgium.
It is claimed the company changed the packaging of Jupiler and Leffe beer cans in the Netherlands and France to make them harder to sell in Belgium.
It is also alleged they removed French text from cans in the Netherlands, and Dutch text from its cans in France, to prevent their sale in the French and Dutch speaking parts of Belgium, respectively.
The brewer is further accused of limiting Dutch retailers’ access to key products and promotions in order to prevent them from bringing less expensive beer products to Belgium.
AB InBev is based in Leuven and has a £38.8bn turnover. Last year it completed a merger worth £76.5bn with SAB Miller.
It said it was working constructively with the commission on the complaints and that integrity was a core principle of the company.
A spokesman said: “It would not be appropriate for us to comment further concerning the European commission’s decision to issue a statement of objections in relation to certain alleged practices on the Belgian beer market, other than that we have been working constructively with the EC since the investigation was announced in June 2016.
“Thursday’s announcement is a procedural step. A statement of objections is not a final decision on the outcome of the case. As a company, we take compliance very seriously.” This will not stand.

Censorship has definitely seen a rapid increase on Google, Facebook, Twitter since 'Net Neutrality', was implemented in 2015. The internet was definitely more free before Obama-era regulations were passed. It's just funny to see reaction of regulation under the dems being reversed.
>regulations apply exclusively to ISP's >blaming facebook and twitter I know you're just trolling so this is just so that others don't get the wrong idea from your posts, but come on now.

If you would all just stop for a minute and give trump a chance
he's just telling it like it is
Not usually a fan of political cartoons but this one does tell it like it is (lol). I'm shocked by how many people who support(ed) Trump are now regretting it or jumping on the "well I didn't want THAT to happen" train. These weren't some minor subtle hints. It wasn't the "liberal mainstream media" trashing him and exaggerating stuff. The man literally called Obama supporting net neutrality an "attack on the internet" and a "top down power grab", and then later pledged to eliminate "intrusive regulations". Same goes for so much of the other stuff he said.

I never see settings for that in my nipponese eroge games
Its usually the F keys. Try F1 or F2.
It's alt + F4 and then you go in the control panel - software - uninstall. Always works for these games.

Probably posted here before but Banjo just showed me this. Gotta say that the tournament is a really good watch. The show went from an occasional thing when bored to waiting for the next episode. Good stuff and the fights are top tier. Goku vs Jiren 2.0 is shaping up to be great.

Tell me this - why cant the internet stay the way it is now?
Because money. The internet has gone through quite a few changes recently with streaming exploding, IoT growing and more new businesses / technologies shaking things up. Some ISP's and big companies want to keep their de facto monopoly. With tech changing, they increasingly started to explore things like throttling. Activists and the people in general didn't really like that, so net neutrality laws started popping up (praise be to the EU, as always, for contributing much to this). In the US, this caught on later in 2015 after some scandals showed that the previous "lite" policies from 2010 were ineffecient and gutted by courts in 2014. Net Neutrality was supported by Obama, the entire Democratic Party and many electronic rights and freedom groups. In 2015, it became part of the FCC regulations which made it binding to the happiness of many. Throttling and discrimination of internet traffic became illegal and was actually enforced as such. And then people voted for Trump, a man who explicitly said he opposed net neutrality. Arguably the most bought, anti-consumer and self-serving corporate businessman president the country has ever had. Trump was elected and followed through with his negative comments on net neutrality. As expected by many, he listened to his big business peers and quickly appointed a notorious anti-net neutrality lawyer (who used to work for Verizon and does their bidding, surprise surprise) to head the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Fast forward just a few weeks and there you go - plans to repeal net neutrality protection were introduced to the public. Things are looking up for big business and their predatory practices while the everyday person and smaller company gets to pay the price. Just as advertised, really. Thanks Trump.

I didn't like him at first but he brings up good points. Net neutrality is like TTIP. Everyone says it's a good thing but no one knows what it is. The name is misleading, it's a government regulation.
This is such a weak argument. Exploring and managing the legal aspects of technology is what I do for a living. I'm pretty confident that I know more about net neutrality than 99% of people on here and elsewhere, and that definitely includes the likes of these people over at Infowars. The name is not at all misleading. It's regulating the few companies in charge of providing internet services to protect the actual people relying on them. There's nothing inherently wrong with government regulation. This argument makes as little sense as going "b-but requiring companies not to put literal poison in your food or cancer in your walls is not a good thing because it's government regulation and it limits freedom". Fuck that bullshit. Regulation is good and necessary in many areas. This is one of them.

This is gay.
I'm just surprised by being carded over a video game, lol.
I'm not.
This is the fucking norm in Target too. Its a business practice. I had to do it. Its done so a lawsuit won't be filed. Even though I actually look older now, I still get carded for booze here.
Its the norm here. Don't expect it to be like the EU here at all. Otherwise you will have a bad time.
Pretty dumb practice, that's all I'm saying.

Only other time I've ever been carded buying a game was when I tried to buy Hunter Reckoning for the original Xbox at like age 12, and that's an extremely violent game with the rare 18+ rating like Manhunt.
