I completely missed this thread because I was abroad. Is it too late to still submit a story?

We are talking about the term "Middle East", right?

I thought it was "Greater Middle East" we were talking about.
Oh, my bad in that case. I thought we were still on about "Middle East".

Hey, I'm just letting you know what's up. It was a term coined by the second Bush administration and people have been running with it since.
I've always thought the term's been around since the 1900's.

Very much so, I feel completely safe here. I live in a very student oriented city, so the worst I fear might happen is getting into a drunken fight with some students at a bar or having your bike stolen.

Don't you know that everyone who isn't extremely right wing in every single way (socially, fiscally, economically, ...) is a liberal? It's become such an arbitrary and subjective notion now that it's often used by conservatives to categorize everyone they don't agree with.
That sounds like something a liberal would say.
Touché.

But, this lash-back was expected, and seeing as mods and monitors are held to a higher standard they can't truly defend this.
I don't think I have anything to defend though. This wasn't my call to make, I just applied. Anyone who has a problem with my appointment is free to address this with me by PM. I'll be happy to respond to any questions or concerns you may have.

Well, we don't know the requirements yet. Who knows how long it'll take before someone hits that rank.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate it. Maybe this would be a good time to finally do my first AMA, provided anyone would actually be interested in that.
We all know you like MLP, what more is there?

: P
I don't really, though. At least, not anymore. I used to watch the show back in the day (like 3 years ago) but never got too caught up with its community. I'm pretty sure I'm well over 2 seasons behind at this point, as I haven't even looked at anything MLP related for at least a year.

The only times I still bring it up is when there's people to be rustled. After all this time, posting pony stuff in a thread is still a surefire way to get a response out of people and more often than not get someone a little flustered. :p

Not many fellow pony fans on here though, it seems. As far as I can tell, it's just me and my fellow bronies Boot, Rocketman, LC and Assassin.

The punishment seems apt.
I have to agree. It's a terrible shame, but unless it can be proven that the man was speeding or somehow negligent in any other way, innocent until guilty should apply and he should only be convicted for the accident.

The witness, Edward Vernon, now 53, recanted his testimony last year, saying he was coerced by detectives, according to Cuyahoga County court documents. Vernon wrote in a 2013 affidavit that he never saw the murder take place, but he was told by detectives that if he didn’t testify against Jackson, his parents would be arrested.

Serious / Throwing chairs at judges
« on: November 22, 2014, 07:00:11 AM »
As some of you may have read about, a man in the Netherlands threw a chair at the judge who convicted the man responsible for the death of his 2 year old daughter and her grandparents in a traffic accident. The reason for the father of this girl's outrage? The man was convicted to a mere 120 hours of community service and temporary loss of his driver's license.

Unsurprisingly, this ruling is now followed by public outrage of people demanding a harsher punishment. All we know is that the man lost control over his vehicle and ended up on the sidewalk, killing the 3 people walking there. Because there is no evidence to support that the man was speeding or that criminal blame falls unto him, he is merely convicted for accidentally endangering traffic, which is what led to this mild sanction.

Thoughts? Video of the incident (the SFW chair throwing, not the accident itself) below.
