I do want to visit Sweden once. If anything, I'll be able to make the comparison US - Sweden myself.

*pays Flee $100USD to say that America is better than Sweden*
Send it to me cash and I'll see what I can do.

Cash? Don't you people use Paypal?
They don't have banks in Belgium, actually.

YouTube

Banks are just such a marvel of American excellence that we, poor Europeans, can't even begin to comprehend that.

Welcome to New 'Murica™
Nah. Just like any other country, the US can never have any claims on any celestial body.
I was joking :P, but eventually those rules will become obsolete. Once we are able to make other planets and moons more habitable (and gain resources etc.) its going to be first come first serve. Just like the Americas were for the Europeans. Which is troubling since the US is going commercial in this. (Essentially the lore of the killzone series. Space X = Helghan Corp)

You know China won't gaf. Any nation that can't go to mars can do nothing to stop it because any nation that can go to mars is going to be a major economic power on earth. There's a reason Japan, Korea, and India are in their own space race now, since that's the new front for warfare (satellites) as well.
I think you underestimate what the UN can still do against countries blatantly breaking important treaties like that. It is true that the countries and unions capable of going to Mars are major economic powers, but we're not even close to the point where a single country can dominate the entire global scene. No major country is going to take the risk of being on the receiving end of global economic sanctions.
Meh. Maybe. But its the same reason China + US get away with murder in the UN with human rights abuses / espionage. Sanctioning them will do more damage to the nation doing the sanctioning. Far easier to pick a side and benefit from being an ally. But maybe I'm being a pessimist.
Looks like I edited my post too late. Here's a repost:

That being said, I do think that these treaties will eventually be amended when space colonisation becomes more realistic. There'll be new agreements and settlements on how we will deal with this, and I doubt it's going to be "first come, first serve". But until something like that happens or an immense global shift of power occurs, I am pretty sure that no country is going to simply ignore current space law because of the looming sanctions and subsequent global outrage."

But in response to what you just said, the difference here lies that the human rights abuses aren't of direct consequence to most countries. Even though most do (pretend to) care about it, no country or union is willing to cause an uproar and instability over what the US did to terrorists in some other country across the world.

Space colonisation, however, is something else entirely. With the increased polution of the earh, global warming, our growing need for resources, overpopulation and whatnot, space only seems like the next logical step. No one is going to throw a major hissy fit about some espionage. But another country basically giving everyone the middle finger and saying "I'm claiming this for myself alone and fuck you all"? That's going to be a full-blown international crisis. And until there's a global shift in power resulting in a single country becoming the only superpower left standing, this is not something I see happening.

You actually put up with that disgusting design?
It is ugly, isn't it? I have no choice but to put up with it though, the older versions bug out my group chats.
Hmm, I didn't have a problem.
If you want I'll see if I can find the link to what I got, once I get home.
Thanks, but you shouldn't go through the effort. It was a problem that many people shared and that was usually solved by upgrading to the latest version. I don't particularly like this new lay-out, but at least it works.

I've only ever had Wendy's, so I'm not voting.
Was it any good? I used to eat burgers there once in a while. Mostly breakfast though.
It was as greasy and unhealthy as it gets and ended up giving my a stomach ache, but it was pretty good while I was eating it. Reluctant to try it again though, for obvious reasons.

I think we all agree.........can we even really discuss this now?
I too think this is strange. Looks like we must've really gotten most of the intelligent B.net people over here, because this used to be an insanely controversial topic back there.
Or it says something about the people in the Flood compared to Serious

indeed
Now I'm curious what the people over there would think of this.

There is overwhelming evidence that the medical benefits do exist, and no one is denying their existence, but instead arguing that the benefits have been blown way out of proportion.
Problem is that these medical benefits are virtually non-existant in a first world country with decent medical institutions, and that they do not always compare to the benefits that come with not circumcising a child.

Besides, cutting off a body part to avoid unlikely problems that are usually easily treatable isn't very solid reasoning.
That's basically what I'm saying, yeah. I just realized I worded that poorly. >.>

Made a minor edit, should probably clear up any confusion regarding that statement.
Oh I know, I wasn't disagreeing with you. More like clarifying and adding to your post.

I fully agree. It's a barbaric and moronic practice that has no place in the developed world.

Septagon / Re: Sep7agon.net Rules Discussion
« on: December 03, 2014, 03:29:38 PM »
We know there has been complaints about mods not banning or warning offenders, which is why warning status was made viewable to everyone.

The mods don't always post in that thread that they're warning/banning someone (and instead use the auto-PM feature) so yeah, I get why it would look like nothing is being done. Hopefully that will change with the visible warn states.
In addition to that, this clarification of rules should make it easier for everyone to understand staff decisions, or the sometimes (seemingly) lack thereof. The previous version of the rules allowed for more different interpretations, which made each member read the rules his or her own way and then feel wronged when others (including the staff) did not share an opinion.

Clearer and more uniform rules should eliminate this kind of confusion and make it a lot more obvious for everyone what kind of behavior is unacceptable on this forum. Rest assured that clear violations of these new, improved and clearer rules will not go unnoticed.

Superhero movies in general are pretty awful and shameless cash grabs. From what I've seen however, DC does seem to make the better movies.

It looks good, nothing autistic about this. I'm not much of a fan of the symbols though. Using the triangle as a basis for every letter seems counter-intuitive and burdensome for everyday use.

Serious / Re: Religion and it's place in classrooms
« on: December 03, 2014, 10:20:39 AM »
It has its place in the appropriate classroom and context. Religion should be taught objectively, with equal attention to the history and cultural impacts of all world religions. Seeing how much of a role religion plays in the lives of billions of people, it only makes sense that students are taught about them.

However, religion has no place in any class that does not specifically deals with this subject and should be limited to courses on history, culture and world views. Furthermore, it should also be taught strictly objectively, meaning that there should be no "convincing" of students that any religion is more correct or deserving of following than any other.

I will, your address, now.
You're about to get ganked you casul scrub.
How wonderful would that be. Byrne shows up and rings my doorbell. Next thing he knows, a guy dressed up in full Giant Dad's opens the door and mumbles "fire up the bass cannon", while two others dressed up in full Smough's approach Byrne from behind.

U dun fucked up now, casul.
