Serious / Re: Will furriers ever become socially acceptable?
« on: December 08, 2014, 07:57:00 AM »
I don't think so, no. Society tolerates it and shouldn't discriminate against furries, but I don't see it becoming very accepted. The whole thing is just so outlandish and incomprehensible to the vast majority of people that, at least in the near future, I doubt people are going to accept it as something ordinary and normal.

idk, this scene is still pretty terrifying.
Yeah, it has its moments. I just never found it particularly scary and often thought of it more as a thriller than real horror. Last genuinely scary movie I saw was The Babadook. Good stuff.

"Hollywood style" is possible but relies on a vulnerability in a system, meaning that you're not directly going after a single person, but are looking for a breach in a site or network to find the private information of registered users. Usually however, this information is encrypted so that even the host and admins can't tell what password or registration you used, so even if you got in it wouldn't tell you much.

Most cases of "hacking" take place through indirect means, like what you described along with malware, keyloggers, viruses or any type of phishing that record your information. And then finally, there's also just brute-force tactics. A (series of) computers that try every possible combination through trial and error. There's primitive ones that just start with 0000001 and go from there, but there's also more complex algorithms that use words/combinations of signifiance to increase the odds of getting a hit, something that could otherwise take hundreds of years.

The Flood / Re: WHY CAN MONITORS LOCK
« on: December 08, 2014, 07:06:03 AM »
Cheat gave it to us temporary, while the mods are away. In the instance something happens and we need to lock something.
Really?

Thank fuck for that.
You don't think monitors should be able to lock threads?
What part of being thankful for this new ability is me not liking it?
I guess it was the "fuck" that me made me read that post wrong. My bad.

To be fair, the Thing is over 30 years old. It's a pretty good movie, but not exactly scary by today's standards.

it's probably not going to change.
it would be great if i knew why

i get that this place is trying as hard as it can to emulate the experience of being on b.old or whatever

but shouldn't we like... improve the experience while we are at it?
The reason I doubt it's going to change is because few people would want to. Posting complete random and nonsensical stuff with little discussion value has always been a part of the Flood. Not saying I necessarily agree with that, but it seems to be what most want. Plus, this is the only board out of the five to allow these kind of threads.

People want as little moderation as possible, so unless something crosses a line or disturbs forum activities, it's basically allowed. You're welcome to make a poll to ban threads like these though. If enough people share your opinion, it's something that'll be taken note of. I just doubt many people are going to agree with you.

You know, I honestly hope you continue, so that maybe one day, we'll ban threads like this.
On the Flood forum, only repeatedly making threads like this to the point that it disrupts other activities counts as spam. Isolated random threads like this are not a bannable offense on here, no matter how little discussion value they offer.
yeah, uh

that's basically what i'm arguing against
Just reminding you of the current situation and that it's probably not going to change.

damn well hopefully the weebs will be the next
As someone who's often called a weeb, I resent that statement.
Just an FYI, this forum has a tendency of calling anyone who as little as merely likes a single anime show a weeb. It isn't meant to offend or insult.

I wonder why they were targeted. It does not seem like they were harming anyone.
Rumor has it the Official Chicago Dog Owners Association felt that their pets were no longer safe from being inappropriately fondled.

Their "benefit" over tape supposedly is the ease of attaching and detaching the device, combined with the fact that it doesn't leave marks or residue on your screen like tape would.

Either way, it's stupid and completely useless for any even remotely decent gamer with a sense of coordination. The fact that most games don't even allow for accurate hipfire makes this even more worthless of a product. The only instance where I could see this be of any use is with Counter Strike on PC. Unscoped sniping is dead-on accurate but leaves you without crosshairs. But then again, the product isn't supposed to work on a PC monitor anyways, and the good old tape trick has already been used by CS players over the years.

Basically just another scam to get money out of 12 year olds who think that this'll help them go pro on games like Battlefield and CoD. 1/10.

Whether this counts as cheating, however, is an entirely different issue altogether.

Wait, in Sen's Fortress?
I'm at a loss myself. If it's not the one in the Asylum, the only boulders I can think of are in Sen's, and that's hours away from the tutorial area. There's the flaming barrel the hollow kicks at you in the Burg, but that's clearly not a boulder and you can see that one coming from miles away.

Are you sure you actually played Dark Souls and not Demon's Souls, Verbatim?

In that case you are either not telling the truth, or there was something very wrong with your game. I just played through that part of the game again to be sure, and the only message there is the one telling you that tapping the B button makes you backstep.
You don't remember the staircase, and then the message telling you to go up it. And then a boulder falls on you. I don't know, I can't really make something like that up. It's too stupid and unnecessary.
Well, if you're telling the complete truth, then the only thing I can think of is that someone somehow exploited a glitch that let them interact with others in the tutorial area, something that is usually not possible.

Here is a video of the area we're talking about. The only message anywhere near the bottom of the staircase is the one he reads at 0:55, and it's the one about rolling and backstepping.

While also conveniently claiming there was a message in a place where it is literally impossible for player made messages to appear at that point in the game?
it doesn't matter who the fuck made it

it was THERE

it was a message put there by developers and it was a TRAP

do you honestly expect me to remember exactly what the message said

i embellished the message for comedic effect

jesus fucking christ
While also conveniently claiming there was a message in a place where it is literally impossible for player made messages to appear at that point in the game? Unless you ran into a glitch that no one has ever heard of before, I have no idea how there could have possibly been a message saying that there. I just played through that part of the game again to be sure, and the only message even close is the one telling you that tapping the B button makes you backstep.
