Not going to happen until this takes a turn for the worse. We're always open to genuine criticism.

So wait. Instead of simply shooting a kid as soon as they got the chance, based on the mere possibility that he may be carrying an actual gun, these police officers actually managed to defuse the situation and subdue him without a single person getting hurt before having him psychologically evaluated.

And Americans are calling this "incompetence"? Not even sure if this is because of the over the top gun culture or the the "shoot first, ask questions later" menality that seems to be the norm there, but that is pretty messed up.

The US constitution does not really, no. The European Convention on Human Rights along with the Charter on Fundamental Rights does a better job at that.

I prefer this picture, it gives a better frame of reference. Just look at the thing.
what it is doing

how did it get there
Perhaps foraging. Bears in my town do the same thing.
And... I have no idea how it got to the trashcan... Photoshop?

I'm actually pretty sure it's not photoshopped.

The thing is a Coconut Crab, the largest arthropod living on land. It can't swim and lives on the islands in and around the Indian Ocean. They eat pretty much anything and have an amazing sense of smell along with the ability to climb trees and such. The one in the picture was probably attracted to whatever food leftovers there were in that trash can and tried to get in.
I wonder how they taste...
They're a delicacy in a lot of those countries, so I guess you could go and find out.

...who?
I assume he's talking about Edmund Burke, a philosopher who is often seen as the founder of conservatism.

Not at all.

The Flood / Re: but who named it Liberalism?
« on: December 11, 2014, 01:52:11 PM »
It's an oxymoron.
It's not. It's just Americans completely turning the term liberal into something it doesn't mean at all.

Assault weapons are not even real; they are made up concepts to incite fear mongering and discrimination amongst gun owners.
You do realize that literally every single concept ever is "made up", right? And like I said, you don't stop at just assault rifles.

And seriously? Gun control is racist now? I've heard more poor arguments in favor of the abolishment of gun control than I can count, but this one has got to be one of the worst.

Serious / Re: For the first time in two decades

Studies have been conducted that showed the assault weapons ban didn't have any impact on crime and crime rates.
Hence why you shouldn't stop at assault weapons.

I hope this does not lead to the reversal of the current and great trend of tightening gun control.

I have to finish like 75% of an online course in a few days :(
100% of the grading for every single one of my classes comes down to the exam.
That's weird
It's just how it goes here.

Locked for obvious reasons. It's been mentioned time and time again that publicly calling out mods or any other member is not the way to deal with this. Take it up with Cheat.

I just don't appreciate the way he talks shit about me like I did something super horrible >.>

A few days ago I think we actually had normal conversation with no problem too. So I really don't get why old shit needs to constantly be brought up (in a twisted manner from what actually happened, at that). It's unnecessary and uncalled for.
Which is why this is going to stop. This is either going to be taken to PM's and sorted out like responsible adults by talking about it and letting bygones be bygones, or is going to be ignored in the mains. Slights and subtle insults are not the way to go about this and will only lead to more tension, drama and inevitably the rules being broken. Anything else will not be tolerated.

And about this thread, do cut out the drama.

yeah, yeah, I namedropped. I won't do it again,
As is much appreciated. If the two of you can't sort this out, in the very least try to ignore and tolerate one another. This isn't going to devolve into constant slights that will inevitably spiral out of control.

11456
Maybe this thread should be locked if it's going to be used as a vehicle for more drama ^
Correct. It's fine so far, but if any drama is going to be stirred up again in this thread, it will be locked.

You just called me fine!  :-*
The only fine here is yourself, booty.

The problem with sports games is that they don't have a story or setting that can change much, unless you go completely overboard and transform the sport into something it's not. The story is limited to bringing your team to victory, usually through some kind of tournament. The setting is the sport's respective field, players and rules. You can't change much about that, nor can you really add to it. The one thing you really can innovate on is making it as realistic as possible and the way your game is controlled.

If you'd take away the inherent stiffness and limitations of those sports games and then compare the changes made to games like AC, I think you'd be surprised on how little actually changes in AC. If you ignore the changes made to the story and setting, it really boils down to minor changes to game mechanics and graphical upgrades.

I'm personally not a fan of sports game and couldn't justify buying a new release like that every year, but I can understand why people would.
