I still don't get why there's so much blank space on the sides, this was one of my issues with the old site too.
A lot of that depends on the resolution of your monitor. The higher the resolution, the more space on the sides. Either way, we've already expanded the width of the threads and boards a little.

I think making the box showing which board you're on should be bigger as well.
Hell no. That would be straight up retarded. If that box were any bigger, it would look clunky as hell.
Well, the way it is now, the text is too small. Like, way too small.
Can you share a screenshot? And include your OS, browser and screen resolution?

Two minor suggestions:

- You have to click on the actual text of the name of the board in the navbar. Hovering slightly next to it will still give you the cursor indicating there's a clickable link, but clicking it doesn't actually do anything.

- Instead of simply turning the notifications exclamation mark red, it'd be nice if it could show you how many notifications you have waiting for you like the previous versions did.

Windows 8.1, Chrome.

Either way, great job Isara. Glad to see all your hard work paid off like this and I'm happy I got to contribute with the testing.

And it's compressed horozontally.
Same for me, it's because of high res monitors automatically scaling elements like that down. Isara gave an explanation about it, but I'm not much of a design guy so I've already forgotten the exact terms. Go post about it in the thread.

I didn't post to find out about my defining traits, I'm simply here to hear something you dislike about me. If me posting MLP stuff on B.net to mess with people three years ago is the only thing you have, I'd be pretty surprised.
Of the current staff, you probably post the least, sans LC, so it really is hard to find stuff to say. You are staff, though, and I can't say I care much for how you manage the forums. There was a time when I appreciated the leniency, but the level of shitposting that occurs in this forum is toxic and the fact that you support the notion that the site needs shitposting to live very disingenuous and glib.
Yeah, I'm in the middle of my exams so I unfortunately can't post as much as I'd like to. I'll be back to posting more in about a month or so.

What do you consider shitposting? Any thread without discussion value?

Kinder pls, no shitposting in Septagon. Locking this unless you'd rather have it moved to Flood, in which case you can PM me.

Something other than "filthy brony scum" please.
Are you implying that you have any other defining traits?

Why was this thread moved?

Fucking mods
Because this doesn't belong in Serious. A thread about some 4chan v. Tumblr war has no place in what's essentially the debate forum.

It's pretty obvious at this point that nothing we say or do is going to save net neutrality.
You can always move to Europe, where net neutrality is protected by law.
Just based on either America or Europe, I would rather have one right taken away than many more
Other than there not being a constitutional guarantee to the right to bear arms, which the vast majority of people here wouldn't ever even want, what rights am I lacking?

Gore's fun, though.
Thank god. Now I can report you without having to open one of your gore threads.
It's not actually against the rules though, I ran it by flee the other day and technically gore isn't illegal thus it's allowed in anarchy.
So blatant shitposting isn't either? I'm gonna take a break from this website I think.
no illegal content
Harassment is illegal
I haven't seen anything on here that can be considered harassment though.

Like Psy said, it's only allowed in Anarchy. The point of the board is pretty clear: virtually everything you can't normally do on here goes in Anarchy, the special board that only comes around every couple of weeks. There's pretty much only three rules: no illegal content (including lolicon), no revealing personal information, no spillage from Anarchy into other boards. If you abide by those simple rules, you're allowed to post anything you want, spam away and behave like a clown while anonymous.

Of course, it isn't for everyone. But no one forces you to visit Anarchy. It's entirely optional, and you even need a special nameplate before you can even enter. So if you don't want to see gore, porn or flaming, you can just stick to the normal boards. The normal rules still apply here, so no need to worry.

Serious / Re: Private companies owning nukes.
« on: January 03, 2015, 08:27:44 AM »
Obviously I disagree, as there is no profit incentive to nuking anyone when the energy put into a nuclear device could be put to more profitable uses (i.e. electricity), not to mention that people wouldn't willingly do business with a company that nuked someone without damn good reason.
I can come up with quite a few reason why they'd actually use the nuke. It's true that there's no profit to be made in actually just blowing something up, but power is money. Nukes could be used as a way to exert pressure and to topple regimes. Bringing things down creates opportunity. Destroying something can allow certain groups or institutions to get a foothold somewhere and form ties.

The movie "The International" kind of deals with this subject. It's about banks involving themselves in civil wars to make profit and gain power. It's greatly exaggerated, of course, but it shows how large and influently companies can covertly resort to horrible things for the sake of power and money.

THE Cindy?

Yeah.

THE Osboc?

Would you believe it, yes. Not that I used this as my old bnet name. I wasn't active enough on public boards to be remembered anyway.

Hey same! Of the four people I knew at the time of the B.net fuckup, one of them is dead, one has moved on from my little group and writes a blog on the comings and going of the middle-east, and the other two I reside with in a small group on Roosterteeth.com, so it's not like I'd have anyone to remember me here from before.
You should invite them over. The more people the better. =)

Inb4 we end up getting a bunch of oldfomans that somehow will pop out of the woodwork.

How old does your B.Net account have to be to be considered an oldfoman? I'm not sure if I'm an oldfoman or a middle-agedfoman.
How old is your account? I'd say +5/6 years is on the older side.

I'm pretty certain I joined on the 10th of January, 2010.
Definitely not new, but not that old either.

You can always move to Europe, where net neutrality is protected by law.
I read somewhere that this bill could also affect Europe somehow, but I don't know how reputable or accurate it was.
There can be slight and indirect consequences for Europe if the services decide to change something themselves, but ISP's here are not allowed to throttle internet speeds and are compelled to treat all internet traffic equally. The main risks in the US are that prices will increase drastically and that ISP's will discriminate between internet traffic, both of which are against the law in Europe.

anyone know why james franco has been doing comedies recently

i never really saw him as a funny guy, but i mean, he has the chops for it
I hope this is just a fase. He's way too good of an actor to be stuck with dumb comedies.

Either Goldeneye on the N64 or one of the very first Battlefield / CoD / Medal of Honor games on the PS1 or something.

The first one that I actually owned and played a ton was Medal of Honor: Frontline. Loved that game and the opening D-Day sequence.

Didn't we already talk about this in a prior thread? Low level information gathering and administrative stuff?
I'm pretty sure that's what the article is talking about. Nobody's claiming that robots will be able to pull of lawyering in a court-room.
I know, but that just makes the "AI will replace lawyers" headline pretty misleading and of little to no significance though. You could replace "lawyer" with virtually any profession, as a few decades down the line AI will probably be able to perform every administrative or simple task.

11009
Didn't we already talk about this in a prior thread? Low level information gathering and administrative stuff? Sure, but that's no different from any other business or field of work. I'm still fully convinced that legal work is going to be one of the final jobs to ever be taken over by an AI.

I wish video games had shit like this in them. It would greatly had to the game since the characters would have a far greater personality.
Not really. It would probably be just as much of a pointless gimmick as the dancing in Destiny.
