I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

I'd rather have a dead forum with very low activity than an active forum with 99% shitposting.
Possible changes to the boards are currently being discussed. One of the main ideas is to only allow things like politics and religion in Serious so that a lot more threads with discussion value would be made in Flood instead.

Whoa there, Adolf, you can't just ban people for petty infractions.
Says you.
Thing is, we're a small forum >.> We can't just turn into 343i Banpoint because that would be hilariously terrible.
This is something that a lot of people don't seem to realize. We don't have the size or influx of new members that lets us do whatever.

If we are too strict, prohibit anything that doesn't have a ton of discussion value and start banning people for every minor infraction, this place would be dead in a matter of days or weeks. A lot of our members come from Bnet and are accustomed to a certain degree of freedom. Becoming too strict will end up in a lot of users ending up banned, and a lot of others leaving because this place would become nofunzone. Unlike 343 or Bungie, we don't have a "product" that guarantees a large userbase and tons of new members joining every day. We don't have anything to make people come and stay other than the forums and the community itself. If we regulate it too strictly, it'll die.

Same goes for the other way around. If we are too lax, this place will turn into 4chan 2.0. Rarely anything of value would ever be discussed and personal attacks, flaming, drama and shitstorms would consume this place. Members would basically be forced to leave and this place would end up as a cesspool.

It really isn't easy finding the right balance between "everything goes" and "only serious and civil debates allowed". But on that note, the updated rules and moderation process is on its way, and I think it's pretty solid.

I have ideas as to how to get new people here. Almost all of them include a shift in the mentality of the user base which I frankly don't see happening. It's a nice thought though
You should share it. I'm curious now.
I'll share it in the staff chat when I get home.
Alright, great.

This forum isn't exactly welcoming with the problems amongst it's users.
This holds some truth unfortunately. A lot of hostility taking place.

The Flood / Re: The ocean is a terrifying place
« on: January 05, 2015, 08:47:46 AM »
Reminds me of those little crabs at the bottom of the ocean. Or they might have been shrimps. But their main claw arm snaps shut so quickly, and with so much power that for less than a second, the entire ocean is displaced. Their claw makes an air pocket, which then fills in with the pressure of the oecan less then a second later.

That pressure is strong enough to instantly knock out or kill decent sized fish which the crab then eats. That claw snap shuts with so much power that for something much less than a nanosecond, temperatures reach up into the kelvins. Can't remember the name for the life of me. But yeah.
Pistol Shrimp. Awesome little things.

I'm glad I'm not that retarded.
what, did you fucking fail all semester? Need that exam to pass?
For some classes exams make up your entire grade.
i hope you're not retarded enough to take a class like that
Practicums aside, all of my classes are like that. It's to keep the unworthy from passing.

I am glad that the change took place and I personally find that Sep7agon Gaming is a good means to lead towards content creation. However, besides trying to get that started, I cannot do anything about that. I do realize that communication (at least with me) was fuzzy after some point, but I was busy with V2.

If you think there's anything I can do-- especially for Sep7agon Gaming then let me know. Especially if it involves a website related feature and such.
It would be great if there was a banner that featured each new vid, or an open application to get on the channel. That would be great. Or even a way to provide feedback directly tied to the channel
Those are all things that would be great to be implemented. As was mentioned in the Sep7agon V2 thread, the site update is a framework for awesome features to come. Now that it's out, we can start really moving forward in new directions, one of them being content creation.

So no need to panic just yet. These last few weeks have been a little hectic with the new rules, long Anarchy, the moderation update, sep7agon 2.0, the holidays for everyone... But once all that is over and sorted out, we can begin moving forward again. There'll be more talk about this soon. =)

Septagon / Re: Report Sep7agon V2 Bugs or Issues here
« on: January 04, 2015, 05:02:30 PM »
Another minor suggestion would be that when you change the size of your browser window, it would change the boards in the navbar from a click to dropdown to a hover to dropdown menu. Seems more convenient and more in line with the other menus which are all hover activated.

I still don't get why there's so much blank space on the sides, this was one of my issues with the old site too.

There's talks of perhaps adding something similar to what b.old had, with pinned posts/hot topics on the sides.

This gives room for that in the future.
as long as it isn't filled with huge advertisements I'll be okay.

Unless they're those booty-shaking Badoo ads >.>
>better than badoo

And yeah, Icy is right. Sep7agon 2.0 is a framework. There's space allocated for changes and possible future features.
