Subjective or not, I've seen bands of teenagers that can write more intricate and passionate songs than them. That's talent, not riding off a legacy and a reputation as "the best", which is all the Beatles have going for them anymore. They may have done some shit first, but the were far from doing it the best it could be done.

Because they were the first in a wave of revolutionary for the time pop rock music that inspired millions of people to do the same around fifty years ago. The influence and legacy is undeniable, but their music is pretty fucking shitty. If it's not made for radio pop rock then it's overly abstract and shitty 60's stoner music, and neither of those is any good.
