How do I get the Moonlight greatsword from Seath? I got him to down to almost dead by only damaging his rear tail, but it didn't break off. Do I have to be hitting the very tip or something?
Spoiler
You have to be hitting the end of the middle tail. Seath has three tails, so make sure you're targeting the middle one. The easiest way to accomplish this is at the very start of the fight. Enter the boss arena and just run right past him to the crystal that needs to be destroyed before you can damage him. Wait there until Seath starts an attack of his own. As soon as he does, run for his back. His own attack will break the crystal and he'll temporarily be stunned because of it. If you high enough DPS output (I think the tail needs like 500 damage to come off) and attack the tip of the correct tail, you should be able to get it right there at the very start of the fight.
Spoiler
Okay that sounds a lot better than running around all his wriggling haha, thanks.
I can give you a moonlight greatsword if you're on 360
Well I'm on xboner, but it's through backwards compatibility, so it'd still work. What level are you?
300
oh I'm only like level 80 something I think haha, that's well out of the summoning range isn't it. At least as far as I know, I'm not as knowledgeable on dark souls 1, only finished it just in time for 2
If you use the red soapstone I should be able to summon you no problem.
Alright I'll go get that then, don't have it on this character, haven't been in the painting yet
I can help you co op if you want. I can just drop you the sword that way, too.

Can you summon people on NG+?
I have no idea honestly, I've only beaten dark Souls 1 twice. I know you can on Scholar of the First sin, but the way they worded it sounded like they added it as a new feature, so maybe you can't in that case.

I'm going to the painted world after I kill Manus the Anus, so I'll probably have the red soapstone tomorrow

Yeah he's a lot worse than Artorias and Kalameet but I still want to beat him on my own. I have that pendant that deflects his magic at least. Found it by pure luck since I still had that spooky skeleton lamp from the catacombs on me when I read the message about light.

I love getting notifications for literally every single post in your conversation guys. It's great, really.
You could just edit your name out of the last post before the other replies. If that's not considered abuse.

All right--after a long wait, here's update #7. This will cover everything up to the last time I played in early March.

There's not a whole lot that happened here in terms of progression, so don't expect this to be a very substantial update. I'm trying something a little bit different, however. You know how I was conflicted awhile ago, whether I wanted to do video updates or text updates? I found a way to sort of do both at the same time. You'll see what I mean.

So, where did we leave off?

Well, in the last "update," where I tested out my new Elgato, you might remember me having a little run-in with a group of giant, animated stone statue knights. I had to use a Homeward Bone in order to escape, but not before I picked up some loot: a full set of Elite Knight armor.

Of course, Elite Knight armor is the iconic armor set of the Dark Souls franchise, so I was pretty stoked to have picked up a full set on a whim. However, when I made it back to my cozy bonfire back in the Undead Parish, I was disappointed to discover just how sluggish I became when I donned it. I ran noticeably slower than if I just wore my default armors.

I figured it must have to do with my stats, or something--perhaps I need a higher Strength stat in order to run faster in heavy armor. If not, then the damage reduction must be extraordinarily high to compensate for the slow movement. Under that token, I proceeded to test out the armor against that giant blue demon--you know, the one that I keep having to pass by in order to reach the Darkroot Garden? Yeah, you remember. When I tried fighting him the first time, way back, I got flattened, and I'm ashamed to report that the Elite armor didn't really help much at all in protecting me from its attacks. Seems as though I'll be stuck with my Wanderer's armor for the foreseeable future.

My primary mission has not changed--I still need to grind souls to purchase the two smithboxes at the Blacksmith's. However, after posting the test video, a number of viewers were telling me that I had missed something blatant in the Garden, and I should look around a little harder.

That I did. Indeed, once you cross the threshold of Darkroot, all you need to do is turn around to the right, and there's a hidden passageway waiting for you. The somewhat gnarled path led to a number of areas--the first of which was a dead-end, except for two corpses from which I looted a full set of leather armor, and a longbow w/ feather arrows. The leather armor is stronger than my Wanderer garb, and it's also rather light. Unfortunately, it looks gay as fuck, so once again, I'm opting for my default clothes instead. Probably not one of my wiser decisions, but you know what? I value aesthetic a little bit.

The secret area I found is called Darkroot Basin--the lower part of Darkroot Garden. It's aesthetically similar to the Garden, but much darker and mossier. On my TV screen, the bluish shadows of the basin drowned the earth surrounding it, making it very difficult for me to see whether I'm walking on a solid surface, or off a cliff (and to my death). Fortunately, my cautious steps allowed me to see where I was going just fine without falling anywhere.

As I trekked across the outer reaches of the basin, I had a unique encounter: A colony of giant ice monsters--golems?--spotted and attacked me out in the wild. They packed quite the wallop, and their tough, crystalline bodies prevented me from doing practically anything with my current weapons--so I consumed another Homeward Bone to get myself out of there. Now I only have one left. Fortunately, they are purchasable (to my understanding), so I'm not too worried.

Still in need of some spending souls, I headed out to the basin one more time to see if there's anything I missed.

Oh yeah, I definitely missed something.

Here's what happened (please excuse the choppy editing--I was forced to use WMM for this one):

YouTube

Really, that's the only notable thing that occurred the last time I played. I haven't looked up what may have caused that to happen yet, because I kinda like the mystery, but at the same time, I still wanna know. This is exactly why I wanted to get an elgato, though--there would've been no way of documenting this if it were some rare glitch.

So yeah, that's where I'm at. That's where I've been at, I should say. I'm pretty excited about my payout--over 2000 souls, 1 humanity, a new bonfire, and a cool new shield that actually has a usable effect? Awesome.

Okay, I think that covers everything I wanted to cover.

Now, the question is, when I get back to playing, which smithbox do I buy first?...

I've never actually seen any enemy glitch like that in any Souls game. Maybe stuck on a piece of the environment, but not blatantly glitching out like that. Neat find.

Pseudo-spoilers/tips:
Spoiler
Right next to that glowing door in the forest (unlocked with the Crest of Artorias sold be Andre) there's an illusory wall with a bonfire behind it; just roll into or attack the wall. Also, beginners typically go from the first bell (where you are) to Blighttown, which you can get to by (location spoilers)
Spoiler
going through the Depths in Lower Undead Burg, near the Capra Demon

Ah okay cool. If you wanna wear heavier gear then level up your vitality. It'll increase your equipment load, which you can see as a percentage in the top (I think right) corner. I'm pretty sure if it goes over 70 you'll fat roll.

Yeah.

There's an issue with bloodborne that if the game is left on for a long time the enemies have a very limited move set. Doesn't sound exactly like what happened but it was pretty funny nonetheless.

As far as cheesing goes in the souls series I consider it all fair game. Who's to say that knight wasn't just wore out from your many attempts to break him?

Yes, and there is a ring that allows you to have a higher equipment load and still roll and move quickly.

Want to know which ring it is?

I didn't want to tell him about it because he likes to find stuff himself, but the ring reeeeaaally helps...
